Are there any other good spots in downtown that could work for the HSR station?
-
I hope this project is successful. We need more options besides just apartments in downtown.

Parkside Residences: Multifamily High-Rise At 808 Crawford St.

I really like this building. This side of Discovery Green is starting to fill up nicely. Hopefully we can also get more on the other side, especially Block 251.- 1,224 replies

I thought all of these residentials were getting the incentive.

I understand and respect Skanska's reasons for postponing the project because of the questionable economic environment, but I'm just disappointed that we're only getting a seven story parking garage for now in such a prime spot, especially because I feel like the building that they ripped down had potential to be converted into pretty cool residential units. I hope they are able to eventually find a lead tenant because I really like their proposal.
-
You're right, the tower will probably eventually get built, but it could be a while. It's still a little disappointing.
-
Yes, we knew they were starting the garage first, but the tower was still listed as a proposed project on the previous maps. Now it isn't.

Everything is getting pushed back. At least some developers still have confidence in downtown, like Marquette.

Wow, this is very disappointing. I wish they would have just kept the Houston Club building and converted it to residential.

If this gets built, I hope that it puts more pressure on Houston to get a new supertall.
-
The way I'm reading the article is that they are planning on building elevated track along 1-10 once they get inside the loop, so they would be avoiding Washington Ave and all other neighborhoods. I'm on my phone right now, though, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

This looks very similar to the Chicago Catalyst, but with a different base. I like that we're getting a glass tower over here.

I'd like to see the old judicial site sold to Texas Central for them to develop around a HSR station at the post office site.

Do you think this will be another Ziegler Cooper design, or will they maybe go with a different architect?

I agree. With this building being renovated into a Le Meridian and if the old Days Inn becomes a W like iah77 said, then downtown could lose its two biggest eyesores.
-
Great news! I hope they get rid of the garage next to the building. That thing looks bad.
-
This is even better news with it being a new construction. Do you know where this may be going in downtown?
-
Wow, this is great news!
-
I'm not sure if it's big enough, but Market Square Park would have a nice backdrop. But I agree with Luminare. Discovery Green and Buffalo Bayou are probably the most likely candidates.
-
Thanks again. I really like how thin it looks from this view compared to other angles. Your pictures today look really good. The glass looks silver, especially in that first picture. Good job!
