  1. I couldn't agree more. This is going to be a major tech hub area of the city. The next 4 to 5 years are really going to bring Houston over the hump. I think of the Sears building as a icon to Midtown much how the WALD building is to EaDo.
  2. They were power washing the sidewalks yesterday. It's amazing how much better the property looks.
  3. What was their response? I'm curious. I don't want to lose a beautiful building because of the ego of a few a**holes. It's still a very important building for this city.
  4. Wow that's ugly hahah but I'm excited about this place. Eado is becoming my new favorite hood.
  5. Damn that sucks. I didn't know it was closed either. F Harvey!
  6. So me and a friend of mine walked from our job to Buffalo Wild Wings the other day and there were so many sidewalks in very poor condition filled with mud and trash. I contacted the MMD and all they did was refer me to 311. But how does the district overlook things like this? It's pretty damn obvious when a sidewalk could use a quick cleaning.
  7. Wow that's a big city type of design, beautiful concepts. Has anyone heard and updates on the suit store that's supposed to open up in the building?
  8. This would easily become a tourist attraction. It seems they are planning a separate building for this though, not in GreenStreet.
  9. Man this city is really starting to come together. Walkability is better, construction is booming, and old buildings are being repurposed the right way! I think us HAIFers are in the prime of our cities renaissance. Much how New Yorkers were in the early 1900's.
  10. I thought it was always that washed out green industrial look
  11. I wonder if Koolhaas was used to help fully grasp the concept of what Lovett wants to do. Maybe they were confident he could help get that point across with the potential of the site.
  12. I def have to agree with that. I'm really starting to second guess this whole freeway construction. I like the "idea" of a freeway cap park but not as much as seeing this whole are change on it's own.
  13. Wow that's insane. I never knew that. I started following the forum in 2000 and remember reading about the Cotswold Project. Crazy how far things have come.
  14. Remember when everyone was wondering if they were even going to build this? Lol
  15. It's called politics, the same engine running the bullet train. Right now there is no incentive to push for it politically. But once this bullet train gets going then the next thing is going to be how can we connect the region to it. Plus you're comment is looking at things very short sighted. Not desirable RIGHT NOW is true. You could have said the same thing about Memorial City 20 years ago. You think the train is just going to exist with no economic impact? It's going to have a massive impact politically and economically on both cities. It's a great location because it's literally a pivot point in the city. Really this train could help Houston finally get the transit system it deserves.
  16. I think this is a great location. This is going to encourage a light rail line to Downtown from Uptown. Plus you can extend the build out of Uptown because of the BRT line with more stores, etc. This is exciting! Not a fan of dallas but I'm def a fan of Houston becoming a major hub for many economic reasons.
