  1. Wow really? I remember mentioning that this would be great if they considered this. Where did you get the info?
  2. I posted about this in the walkable neighborhoods post. This is exciting news for Houston!
  3. Is it just me or is everything that's happenned the past week a bit surreal? A new tech district, 50 miles of new bike lanes in the next year, and now the proposal to make Main Street a Greenway! Crazy! Lol
  4. No sorry, it was just an announcement today I watched on Facebook so I don't have any further details. BUT the county commissioner was very clear that they are going to work, and I quote, "feverishly" to get this done in a year and it will all be done by independent contractors. I was impressed by the commissioner because he practices what he preaches. He rides his bike everywhere. What I found a bit ironic, is with all the naysayers regarding the approved bike plan a few months back, they are using that as a guide for this. Those critics questioned everything about the plan, mostly funding but they can't say a damn thing now.
  5. I didn't want to make a new topic. The county commissioner, the mayor, Metro, Houston Parks and Rec and a few other groups announced today that in the next 12 months, starting today the city will add 50 miles of high comfort bike lanes on city streets. 50 MILES!!!
  6. I couldn't agree more! I didn't know Station Houston was moving in! This might be the biggest announcement of the year already.
  7. The structure isn't windowless. It's just the cladding on top.
  8. http://www.khou.com/article/news/local/midtown-sears-building-transforming-to-new-tech-hub/285-537101002 The Sears isn't going anywhere
  9. NIIICE! This is the main component of the building I've been waiting to see.
  10. A little disappointed that a local designer wasn't chosen for this but oh well.
  11. I mean the metro is huge. I promise you, both HEB's will be packed.
  12. It's basically just about establishing diversified tech in the industries Houston is strong in. As well as creating a culture for creatives, which this city desperately needs. One strong example is the overwhelming support the Houston Outlaws (our eSports team) received by many young tech savvy Houstonians. Many of which have wanted to explore other cities such as LA or NY because their interests are there. If we can keep even a fraction of those people here in Houston, to help our city grow and develop, then we're in for some great change. You have to cover all bases of tech in order to keep talent here in Houston.
  13. A managed district is almost necessary if you want to reach a certain level of potential. Houston has so much talent but nowhere to officially put it. This city has focused so much on production and profit making for so long, that's why it's not easy to see this city becoming an innovative city. That's why we need an area dedicated to innovation. Houston can't become what we want it to become until it decides to take that next step as a city.
  14. If we can get all those lots on the north end of Minute Maid Park filled up, our downtown will start to compare to other cities like Chicago. I'd love to see downtown double in size.
  15. I swear, if I ever did a mockup like that at work, I'd be fired lol
  16. I'm seriously tired of these developments. I don't mind the businesses but damn can someone build closer to the sidewalk?
