You Know Houston is Trash When...

No problem with Rick's. That makes sense.

But for the Chron.com to blast this on the front page of the Web edition?

How trashy.

Paris Hilton, B Spears, Drew Barrymore, female cast of Desperate Housewives, Heidi Fleiss and her gals, etc will soon appear out of nowhere to cash in on the media blitz. Just watch, trash on top of trash. Where's the disinfectant?

You Know Houston is Trash When...

I gues it makes sense. That titty bar is where Anna Nicole started her "career". If it wasn't for her dancing there, she would have never met her money...um..man...

It has all the markings of another trashy move to show Houston in a bad light.

At least we get some spotlight. Maybe they can make another movie like the upcoming enron one, and bring some life to houston.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. We seem to have a lot of lemons, like that diaper lady, so why not.

And its pretty trashy to talk trash about someone who just die. Its just too soon.

I don't really understand that concept. A lot of people (including myself at times) made fun of her situation at times, then she dies, and people are supposed to forget how strange and ironic her situation has become for a certain period of time when this story has surpassed Iraq as the news story on the front pages? What are people expected to say? "Well, I thought she wasn't a role model until she died, and for the next few week, let's be politically correct and remember all her contributions to society even though I can't think of anything on the top of my head right now?" That doesn't make any sense, yo.

Now, I'ma be real. I thought of Anna Nicole before and after she died as a modern-day Marylin Monroe. But I considered both to be regular people that everyone decided to get fasinated on for some reason of another. They knew the right people, slept with the right people, sometimes got married to the right people, died mysteriously at a surprising time in their lives, and people remember them for more than who they were because of the media frenzy they created for themselves.

Anna Nicole was a topless dancer who became even more famous after marrying one of her customers, who happened to be a senior-citizen billionaire. I thought she was smart. She knew she would be rich and famous someday, and knew how to cash in. Usually when I think trashy, I don't think of someone who's worth over $10 Million bucks, let alone $400Million. But some of these celebs are smart. They know a pay-check when they see one, even if it's by marriage and death.

Who's talking trash?

This story should be burried somewhere in Section E, page 20, that's all.

Rick's Cabaret dirty pillow salute is not front Web page material. But trash likes trash, so maybe it is. The Chron.com obviously thinks it knows what its readers like.

BTW, I just read the article. It seems like the Chronicle weren't the ony media covering Rick's salute.

Of course its ok to talk about her. I think when we talk about someone like that when they die, makes us trashy too, but that doesn't mean we can't talk, or forget how strange, stupid, whatever we want to call it, she is. Just admit that we are trashy too, and not hold any high ground.

I think it's better that people tell the truth about how they remember a person. If U thought about a person a certain way, then they die suddenly, it's hard to imagine that you'd feel different about that person's life. So why say otherwise?

Besides, it makes a person's feelings more sincere when they say how they truly felt about a person, postive or negative. Just don't remember someone for something they're not, that's all. If she started her career as a topless dancer, remember her for that. That doesn't make her trashyto me; a few of my friends became dancers, too. She married for money. That may make a few consider that actions as trashy though. Does that make the person remembering her trashy for thinking that way?

She actually started her career as a golddigger while working at Gigi's up on 290. That is where she met the billionaire.

I'm guessing her Rick's career was before Gigi's.

EDIT.. I'm wrong.. Gigi where she met the billionaire was '91... Ricks was '92 according to the Chron article

Have you all noticed that the front page of the Chron.com site has had other "events" on there here recently, that well, for the life of me I could not figure out why they were there. The other day they had some bizzare event at Ovations on there. What is up with all that? Did anybody else see it and am I the only one that found the things they were covering, I don't know, not exactly front page news to say the least?

I've seen it too. A lot of front-pagers these days promoting Houston Lifestyle and Nightlife. (Such as "A Night At The Museum")Sometimes when U click on it, it would take U to an event photo gallery of different people at that event. No harm. Perhaps the idea is to promote Houston's trendy places while keeping up web-traffic.

Iv'e heard and seen some creepy things in my life but seeing those two get-down & getting funky in the club must have been quite a scary scene! I would have picked up my drink and ran! This was before viagra right? How could he, I mean, it ......I am very confused & frightened now.

Seems with that kind of $ he could have had her visit him at his castle and all. Not in public...See where this is going?

Anna gave him a raise, and he gave her one in return...

The funniest part about the article is that it was also reported as news on 740am today, and they had a soundbite of the dumbass DJ at the joint, yelling at everyone to "come on, stand up and drink up, party on ! That's what Anna would have wanted, trust me, I KNOW !" Very comical for a "tribute".

I'm sick of being known for whacky tv personalities, even stranger real life characters, oil barrons, and vapid movie stars. No wonder the world thinks we're trash.

We are!

I'll be honest; When Midtown Coog posted up the topless-dancer tribute making the front page, first thing I thought to myself was "I wonder how long it would be until there's a story stranger and more irrelivant than that one making the front page of the Chronicle." I guess I only had to wait a couple days, huh?

To th Chronicle's credit though, that shaving story made the front page on quite a number of papers this past weekend. I didn't know people cared

I'd say the Bald Britney pic is the strangest front page I've ever seen on the Chronicle.

I am sure there have been funkier stories in the Chron than we realize. Funny thing is all the young-uns think this is shocking when all of these stunts have been done BEFORE and its nothing new. Sinead O'Conner & Annie Lennox did it years ago. No big deal.

Manson Girls in 69 to "free Charlie". Silly

Nothing new...yaaawnnnnn....

She just looks like Uncle Fester's daughter now. We can call her Baldy or Chrome Dome.

Actually, this photo is kind a cool. The girls just socializing, mingling, talking about religion...its all so innocent and so are they.

Like Dr. Pepper, so misunderstood...but so well liked!

Front page news, again! This time: Woman tells of relationship with Anna Nicole.

Don't you just love it when the Comical discovers a story that is old news for most everybody else in town? The Houston Press did that very same story back in 2000 just before the Houston trial over Smith's claim to half of her late husband's estate. The Chron acts like they just found out about it, which is probably true.
