hindesky
According to the Engage Houston web site they said 2 months ago that it will finish mid July, '22. I don't see that happening, I think it will finish Oct. '22 at the rate it's going. https://www.engagehouston.org/mkttrail

hindesky
They have added a bout 30' of concrete trail from under Studemont. The bridge looks done except wall and/or railings. The retainment wall is coming along. Edited August 8, 2022 by hindesky
Arboosto
I'm impressed with how quickly the culvert was graffitied. I think it happened within days of the concrete being placed.

hindesky
I still believe a late Sept. or early Oct. finish date.
sapo2367
I like the graffiti tbh, they should keep it.

hindesky
I would say about 100'-120'+- of trail needs to be added, hand railing by the bridge and landscaping/grass sod. I'm guessing mid Oct. finish.
TXK
Looks like all the concrete is poured and there's a line of sod all the way down the trail. They were watering the sod when I rode by this morning. I also believe I crossed 4 trail counters on the White Oak and MKT trails, would this be them trying to get a traffic baseline before this segment opens?
hindesky
I went by on Studemont and the only thing I see missing is the hand railing over the culvert bridge if they actually have plans to include them.
hindesky
Looks close to opening. Hand railings are staged in two areas but not yet by the culvert. Worker is roughing up the concrete for the center stripe paint.
pokemonizepic
Paint looks done and railing are up closer to the MKT side, on the side of white oak bayou they aren't installed yet Edited October 6, 2022 by pokemonizepic
bookey23
Anyone know if there's a plan for the huge swath of dirt alongside the MTK trail, which I assume is currently being used as a path for heavy machinery? I don't expect anything too groundbreaking there, but it would be great if they added some benches and some trees, since they have a lot of room to work with. I walked on the MTK trail the other day at peak heat and it was scorching without any trees on that side of the path.
hindesky
It's open, kind of surprising they didn't put hand railings over the culvert.

TacoDog
Can a railing be built that is strong enough to stop a bicyclist from knocking it over but light enough for debris to knock it over in a flood? And cheap enough to replace it 🙃
