MidtownCoog
I don't know many employers who get into the personal lives of their employees. That's actually an illegal practice, unless they volunteer the information of course.

ricco67
Knqn, I know this will be an interesting response....But there are people who don't have any class at all as to what's proper. There is brown trash just as much as there is White trash. (I'm hispanic, BTW)But anyway, welcome to the board. Shall we continue or move on?Ricco
MidtownCoog
I suggest a trip to Manvel to see some nice chicken coops. It's the real deal, living in a trailer on an old gas field. Seriously
ricco67
I know you're serious. Trash is trash, no matter what color it is. The question, what color are you pointing out that I might see in manvel? I'm an equal opportunity bigot. ANY race can be stupid, uninformed, over-opinionated, and just lack any class whatsoever. Period. Ricco
dbigtex56
So far as trashiness, lack of class, etc. - often the problem is that these people are used to rural life, and haven't adapted to our 'citified' ways. Therefore, chickens, outdoor storage, clotheslines, loud music... It's not a matter of a person's race or ethnic background. Not everyone has had the advantages that some of us have had, and more can be accomplished with patience than with hostility.

SeriouslyYou don't even have to go that far. There's a rooster living in the backyard of a place next to the tire shop near the Pierce Elevated in Midtown. MidtownCoog
If you are talking abourt NTB, I saw the same rooster(s).The Viet place near Main and Elgin used to keep some in a coop out back. They would escape all the time. I think the city put an end to that practice.

MidtownCoog
Did anyone listen to the NPR series this week on Immigration? How timely. I had to laugh when NPR used the terms like "Mexicanized" or "Joining the Mainstream." Some of the exact thoughts were presendted that offended some of you.The real debate becomes doing your own thing or joining mainstream America. Here's a link for those of you who missed it. There is a LOT of information here.http://www.npr.org/news/specials/polls/2004/immigration/The question of Mexican assimilation is a valid one, and is examied by NPR in this story: Mexican ImmigrantsMorning Edition
