I see they are enlarging the Home Depot on the North Loop. They are adding on to the south end, and they are expanding the parking lot to 25th Street. That will also give them an additional entrance from the south.

Good news. They are trying to compete with the Lowe's at Ella and I610 which is much larger and newer.

I actually use both stores since they are so close. If doesn't have, I go to the other one. It also allows for comparison shopping.

Also, Home Depot always had a side entrance/exit through Pep Boys.

And HD is 24X7.

Lowes is not.

Coog - they changed that a number of months ago. It now closes every night, much to my chagrine. Still, that's got to be one of the busiest HD's in Houston. Lowes could make a killing, and I really really try to shop there, but their service is wretched compared to HD.

I consider both about the same. I started using them since the first of the year. I really don't see much of a difference.

My only complaint about Lowes is that lack of self checkout (and its a new place).

Have any of you ever noticed the slight pricing difference in Lowes vs. Home Depot? I usually find everything at Home Depot 5-10% higher. That's just my experience though.

I've noticed it too. I guess Home Depot follows Targe Pricing and Lowes follows Wal-Mart pricing
