HoustonMidtown
are they going to tear down that big warehouse for this? I don't know why, but I've always thought that was kind of a neat building. I can't even think of anything remarkable about it...but...No - the warehouse on the corner isn't part of this development - it is for sale though....These apartments took over the old Allen Park Inn hotel - it closed after flooding during tropical storm Allison.Im wondering what they are going to build across Allen Parkway where the old paper recycling building used to be....it was torn down a few weeks ago....more apartments probably ? Htowngirl
Im wondering what they are going to build across Allen Parkway where the old paper recycling building used to be....it was torn down a few weeks ago....more apartments probably ?The old Sacks' waste paper? My apartment overlooks that property. There is some blueprints & contractor information hanging on the gate outside the place for a condominium tower. Since the week of the demolition, I haven't seen seen really anyone at the property. In the past couple weeks some (yellow & black) real estate "For Sale/Information" signs have gone up all around the property. I was wondering if the condo deal fell through (although they haven't taken the blueprints down), or if they were advertising to put retail or offices in some of the floors of the building??? Not sure. Also, I know I will be VERY UPSET to lose my view of the Galleria/Allen Parkway skyline with the rate my rent has been going up since my apartments were bought out by AMLI... VicMan
As for yet another school info post..These apartments will be zoned to:* Wharton Elementary School (http://es.houstonisd.org/whartones/)* Gregory-Lincoln Education Center (for 6-8) (http://ms.houstonisd.org/gregorylincoln/)* Lamar High School (http://hs.houstonisd.org/lamarhs/)Profiles:* http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Wharton_ES.pdf* http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Gregor...onCenter_ES.pdf (Note, the campus is a K-8 school, yet the Bel Air is only zoned for 6-8)* http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lamar_HS.pdfGregory-Lincoln's building looks like a prison. The good news is that construction started on a brand new school building.Of course, Houston ISD also has transfer and magnet programs in case you wish for your child to attend another school. TxDave
I do miss the Allen Park Inn. It was an inexpensive, clean place to stay in a great location - I stayed there many times when visiting Houston. Is ZOM still involved in this project? They have been done some projects in Dallas, including the Mondrian in Uptown.http://www.mondriancityplace.com/index.htmlThe planned project in Houston looks very nice, but I am a little underwhelmed. That is such a high profile site - couldn't it be more impressive?

citykid09
Heh...It looks like an apartment version of Hermann Hospital(the newer Memorial buildings, not the older one). When I first saw it, I thought it was Hermann Hospital. Then I clicked the image to make it bigger and I noticed that it was a new apartment building coming.
