  1. It will be way below the top of the garage. Noise from it won't be a problem
  2. the Foley's implosion had a 500' danger zone around it, so I'm sure this one will have a similar safety zone
  3. I'll be there. Since that's two days before my 50th birthday, I want to make a party out of it
  4. cool! The McLendon Triple! I was 15 when we went there in 1980. Urban Cowboy was all the rage... Some kids from Canada, eh, were visiting- they had just gone to Gilley's to ride the bull. We piled into our cars and cruised up Alt 90 to see some movies. Since I was the smallest one, I got shoved into the trunk along with another small dude named Craig and a tall guy named Steve- all to save the 50 cents a head admission charge... LOL We saw Jamie Le Curtis in Prom Night and some other flick... Fun times!
  5. Did they make the windows larger on this one? They're square.... I think I remember them being rectangular
  6. I think I was standing in the same place as Nate...lol
  7. Workers are attaching the cab to the lift now, it's about to go up
  8. they put anchors for the facade in all the notches on the Travis St side.. I saw them as I drove in to work today
  9. how has that theater lived for 46 years without a fly loft? Seriously? Wow! (no sarcasm intended) it has to be like working in a high school theater.. .you want a backdrop change, you put it on a track system and move it left and right instead of flying it in and out. (i have only been to the Alley once- my minion Blackout borrowed some gear from me to do a show there, and I went in to check on him... they have a nice black box theater, haven't seen the main room yet)
  10. here's a drawing of the piles at the Kingdom Tower... as you can see, there's a shiatload of them - some as deep as 106m...
  11. scavenging the recycleable building materials starts soon, demo starts after that, and the hotel construction starts in March.
  12. notches are most likely anchors for the new facade
  13. immediately across the street at Fondren and Woodway is one of the two nice places to live on Fondren (no way! a nice place on Fondren? LIES!), and down woodway from there is an old folks home and an old Farb place. the train wreck sign has been up for a while, so I'm sure it's not some form of protest....
  14. they're RGB LED. they don't use the green much.... oh, the irony... LOL
