  1. Wow you've been everywhere! No wonder you know everything!
  2. A Whole Foods Brewery? Do you think an organic, vegan, all natural, free trade hangover hurts less than a regular one? If so sign me up!
  3. This link doesn't seem to work anymore and I haven't seen any activity on the other pads on this site. Does anyone know what's going on? I was hoping for some new shopping and dining options to start popping up around Costco.
  4. I could be wrong but I think you're both saying the same thing...
  5. I believe many people have the oil refinery image of Houston from Urban Cowboy.
  6. WOW, just WOW! I absolutely love this video. How great it would be to get transported back in time just to walk around American cities in that era!
  7. WOW a pickup in a rendering rather than a luxury car!!! I think that's a first!
  8. Do you have any more info on this development? Nothing happens when I click on this project on the Hutchens Mote website. It doesn't say it's in Katy, do you know the locatio0n?
  9. WOW awesome news! Thanks for the info DScott.
  10. I love that last pic. It kind of gives off a Gotham City from Batman The Animated Series vibe!
  11. The head smashing of Prince Oberyn by The Mountain reminded me of The Toxic Avenger from 1984 when a character in the film had his head smashed while using a weight machine. I watched the "behind the scenes" of TTA and thought it was funny that the head was actually a melon with a wig and a face painted on. The head smash in GoT was so over the top that it also looked like a melon getting smashed and I laughed at it. However as a first time father with a 5 month old in the room I realized that very soon I would have to start making decisions about what I'll watch with her and what I'll allow her to watch. I most definitely will not let her watch Game of Thrones. I feel rather desensitized to movie violence, particularly as someone with an interest in film special effects, knowing how they're made and having watched so many violent shows and movies in my life. I've always felt the "sexpositions" in the show were more gratuitous. Do we really need a bi-sexual orgy in every episode where one of the characters recites an inner-self revealing soliloquy? Got is a great show but would still be a great show without the gratuitous sex and violence. Of course those aspects of the program have us talking about it and many others as well so it probably serves it's purpose for the producers. Eventually something will come along that will make Got look benign, as is always the case with controversial content in mass media. I love it though and will not be letting my kids watch it.
  12. Glad I'm not the only one. So anyone care to chime in on what that means? Too much to ask.... maybe....
  13. I noticed work happening on this site last Friday. I really hope this turns out as a nice mixed use development. We need more dining and entertainment options in the area.
  14. The island is already there and being built out. I tried posting a pic of it but it didn't work. You can see it on Google Maps satellite view.
  15. It looks like the Texas shaped lazy river is still part of the plan. I'm going to book a room for a night when this opens just to try it out. Love it!!!
  16. I noticed this recently. I was talking at work about the 40 story residential building going up near Greenway and how it was similar to Aqua in Chicago but no one knew what I was talking about. Many of the people I work with are native Houstonians and many of them live inside the loop but they just have no idea about/interest in development. Really all I do is read HAIF and Swamplot but I've become the local expert on development in Houston to the people I work with. I even had our HR Manager ask me about new residential buildings going up because she wants to live in a prestigious apartment when her lease is up next year (I recommended "Little Aqua". Skyhouse, or The Ballpark Apartments). So yeah some marketing is probably not a bad idea.
  17. Actually that's the way a normal distribution works. If we assume intelligence to be measurable and plotted on a bell curve then exactly half of the population would be to the left of center (dumber, as you say) and the other half would be to the right of center or smarter. However I seriously doubt there is any correlation between the name of one's neighborhood "starting with "wood" or ending with "land" or containing the words "master planned"" and the measure of one's intelligence. Particularly considering the fluidity with which many people change neighborhoods throughout their lives, i.e. I used to live in the city of Houston now I live in Cinco Ranch. Therefore I am now less intelligent than I was or was significantly below the mean when I lived in the city and this lack of intelligence caused my move to the "master planned" community. But what do I know? I live in "the burbs" so I am therefore ignorant and awful and have no valid opinions. At least as far as many on this site are concerned. I know I'm off track and shouldn't bother but some times I like to rant also. What can ya do?
  18. Damn! I thought this thread was going to be about plans to put a riverboat casino in downtown Houston (yes I know gambling is illegal in Texas). Still fun to think about!
  19. Good catch! I didn't notice that. It definitely looks like a tri-oval race track. Very interesting...
  20. I know phase 3 includes an office building, a Trader Joe's, and an apartment complex. Does anyone know what else will be included?
  21. I've never heard of The Institute or the Festival but both have been added to my "To do" list. Thanks!
