  1. It looked from the renderings that this would be a block sized base with a tower built on top. But from the above pic it looks like they're building the tower portion from the ground up and building the base separately connected into the tower. Is that what is happening here?
  2. I don't even think the redesign would look that bad if we weren't comparing to the original renderings. If this were an entirely new project it would be a fine addition to downtown. But after seeing the early design this definitely feels a little... deflating.
  3. It would be even better if this info were at the top of each page.
  4. Btw, does anybody have a subscription to the chronicle? I'd like to read the article on the $1.5 billion dollar study on south Montgomery County... http://www.houstonchronicle.com/neighborhood/woodlands/news/article/Study-1-5-billion-needed-to-ease-congestion-in-5764802.php Highlight the title on the webpage, right-click, select "search Google for...", then click on the article in the search results and it will open with the entire article available to read. Or copy the selection and paste it into Google's search bar then you should be able to read it after you select it from the search results.
  5. This is quickly becoming a very serious question with all of the development uptown and suburban style street grid that is already gridlocked. It seems like something will have to change with the streets at some point.
  6. A Whole Foods Brewery? Do you think an organic, vegan, all natural, free trade hangover hurts less than a regular one? If so sign me up!
  7. I could be wrong but I think you're both saying the same thing...
  8. Do you have any more info on this development? Nothing happens when I click on this project on the Hutchens Mote website. It doesn't say it's in Katy, do you know the locatio0n?
  9. WOW awesome news! Thanks for the info DScott.
  10. I love that last pic. It kind of gives off a Gotham City from Batman The Animated Series vibe!
  11. I noticed work happening on this site last Friday. I really hope this turns out as a nice mixed use development. We need more dining and entertainment options in the area.
  12. It looks like the Texas shaped lazy river is still part of the plan. I'm going to book a room for a night when this opens just to try it out. Love it!!!
  13. Actually that's the way a normal distribution works. If we assume intelligence to be measurable and plotted on a bell curve then exactly half of the population would be to the left of center (dumber, as you say) and the other half would be to the right of center or smarter. However I seriously doubt there is any correlation between the name of one's neighborhood "starting with "wood" or ending with "land" or containing the words "master planned"" and the measure of one's intelligence. Particularly considering the fluidity with which many people change neighborhoods throughout their lives, i.e. I used to live in the city of Houston now I live in Cinco Ranch. Therefore I am now less intelligent than I was or was significantly below the mean when I lived in the city and this lack of intelligence caused my move to the "master planned" community. But what do I know? I live in "the burbs" so I am therefore ignorant and awful and have no valid opinions. At least as far as many on this site are concerned. I know I'm off track and shouldn't bother but some times I like to rant also. What can ya do?
  14. Good catch! I didn't notice that. It definitely looks like a tri-oval race track. Very interesting...
  15. I know phase 3 includes an office building, a Trader Joe's, and an apartment complex. Does anyone know what else will be included?
  16. This weeks Bizarre Foods America with Andrew Zimmer was all about Houston. It was a great episode and really showed some of the variety of foods in Houston.
  17. Has this development started going up yet or are they still doing site work?
  18. I really like the way this tower looks. Should be a great addition to the uptown skyline.
  19. WOB was packed when I went Friday night. Luckily they have a large outdoor patio area because the bar itself is kind of small. They had a band and even though it was busy they had good service. They have an almost overwhelming beer selection. I stopped trying to pick my own and just asked the waitress to "bring me something new". Overall a great addition to the area for beer lovers (they don't offer spirits) and I'm sure I'll being going back again. I live nearby and would be willing to have a meetup there sometime in the future if anyone would be interested. It would definitely take a bit more forethought than I tried to get away with Friday. :-)
