  1. As far as I know, it's still going to be the smaller Whole Foods. I suspect the whole project is recessed from the street a bit because of the light rail proposals. Also, from what I read on the variance request from 2200 Post Oak, there is a city code that prohibits buildings from being within 15 feet of the property line alone a major road. If anyone has any other specific questions on this project, I can go back in the next few weeks and I can ask them then.
  2. Ok. I just had probably the 10 most enlightening minutes about this project. As I mentioned before, I live across the street from the development. I noticed on blvdplace.com that the address for the leasing office is in the only structure currently built, and I was bored, so I decided to walk over and see if I could get any information about the project. I have no idea why I didn't do this sooner. They were really happy to hear that this project actually has people following it and excited about seeing it go up. Here's what I got from them (the big important things are in bold): -In the next few weeks, they will be moving the temporary power supply for the Pavilion closer to the building, opening up the area for construction. -Groundbreaking for Phase 1 (the Whole Foods and the little shops around it) WILL be in June. -The residential tower (in the small block formed by Skylark and Post Oak Lane) will begin construction at approx. the same time as Phase 1. -They are a little concerned about both projects starting at the same time, as there isn't really a lot of room their for trucks to coming and going. -The Pavilion will be demolished in September. -Construction on Phase 2 will begin before then end of this year. -Construction on Phases 3 and 4 MAY being before then end of this year, and if not, than early next year. -The project WILL contain a total of 3 towers: the residential tower, a hotel in the back, and the 10-story tower at the corner of BLVD Place Dr. and Post Oak Blvd. seen on the left in this rendering: -Also, that rendering is apparently new. They told me that the render of final design for the exterior of the Whole Foods (that picture) was only completed last week. There was another view they had posted on their wall, but it isn't on their site, apparently. For comparison, here's the old rendering of that angle: -The parking garage will being construction by the end of this year. It will be 7 stories tall, and MAY have an additional 2 stories for a gym at the top. -The person I was talking to also made mention of one of the towers being 60+ stories tall, and quickly back tracked from it. He was probably thinking of the old plans, but I like to think that they are going to build something massive and just don't want to let anyone know.
  3. I drove by the site about a week ago and didn't notice anything. But then again, I wasn't exactly looking for anything at that point.
  4. I don't have a subscription there either, so all I could tell you is what is in that blurb.
  5. If you look at the pictures from the bizjournal article, it appears they are also planning on constructing a new building in the vacant lot next to the old structures: http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/print-edition/2011/05/13/efo-residential-to-transform-1111-rusk.html
  6. I think it's funny that the subtitle for this thread is still "Irving Headquarter Not Moving To Houston".
  7. And how is this destroying 4th ward? It's being built on what is currently a vacant lot, and the one building that is there, the Settegast Building, is currently boarded up and is being renovated as a fine arts center for this school. I really don't see how this can be seen as anything but positive.
  8. It's been its own school - not part of Jones - since 2002. As long as it's been Carnegie, it's been separate from Jones. When it was part of Jones, it was just a Vanguard program at Jones.
  9. Could you ask them if they have a time frame for groundbreaking? I would myself, but I haven't the faintest clue how to send someone a message on twitter.
  10. It seems the site of the old Marquee Apartments on McCue right across Westheimer from the Galleria was sold. There's already a really basic idea of what's going to go up there: They are saying it's going to be a 237 unit apartment building. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/print-edition/2011/04/29/dinerstein-cracks-galleria-area-with.html This is the same company responsible for Millenium Greenway, that new-ish apartment building that wraps around the Chevron station at Wesleyan and 59. The site is the one that backs up to the 2200 Post Oak site.
  11. Well the problem is that they have a large chunk of vacant space there. What my understanding of the project is is that they will demo some of the shops in the front, opening up the whole layout, and move all of those front shops into vacant space in the rear, which will greatly increase the total percentage of their space that is leased. No one goes there anymore, and store keep leaving. I've said for several years that the place is dying. Hopefully this can turn it around. Now all they need to do is get rid of LA Fitness and put the skate park back and the place will be full of people again...
  12. Judging by the map on their website, it looks like they are going to demolish the pavilion and use the space for a traffic circle for drop offs/pick ups and part of the walkway between section 6 (the already built one) and sections 4 and 5:
  13. According to the BLVD Place website, Phase II will be done in 2012. It doesn't say what part of 2012 though. I just hope they get going on something soon. I just moved into my new place about a month and a half ago, and it overlooks the site, and however nice a big field is out your window, I'd rather have a Whole Foods, or at least some construction to watch. Currently this is my view off of my balcony: Hopefully, once they get working, I'll have some photos of it that are actually interesting (and don't necessitate me getting dressed to take them ).
  14. This is the Perennial Post Oak development. But the rendering looks like they've done a moderate redesign on the main tower. Here's the brochure for the old plans: http://www.theperennial.com/images/downloadable_packet_128.pdf
  15. I remember seeing that sign appear almost 8 years ago. I used to live on Bering, like half a block from the site, so I got really excited. I usually laugh when I see it now, thinking that the whole thing was scrapped and the sign was just forgotten. Good to know it's still going to happen. And I found the page on their website regarding this site: http://www.adplayers.org/capitalcampaign.html
  16. You can check the "Perennial - Post Oak topic for the more recent updates on the 2200 Post Oak site. Most recent update is that the owners of the site filed some paperwork with the city to allow the building line to be closer to the road than normal regulations would allow. That was right at the turn of the new year.
  17. If that's the case, the 24 Hour Fitness is going to have to be demolished soon, unless the June start date means the start of the demolition work.
  18. Found out everything that's happening (sorry for the double post. can I not edit my previous post?): My linkhttp://www.uh.edu/plantops/resources/projects-log-folder/Major_Capital_Projects_Main.pdf It's from July 2010, but it lists all the planned or current projects. The thing at Cullen at the PGH entrance is nothing more than an expansion of the Fleming Building. I hadn't been into Fleming since the work started, but apparently they are renovating the whole thing. The whole powerplant is being renovated, and they are replacing two of the cooling towers and two boilers. Other things include a planned 2,400-spot parking garage at Roberston, renovations of about half a dozen buildings, extension of the Valenti School of Communications, and a third building for the Bauer College. What is conspicuously absent it the University Center renovations.
  19. I thought that was the building going up at the corner of Cullen at the PGH entry drive. So if this is going up at Calhoun, WHAT IS GOING ON AT CULLEN!?!? And does anyone have any information about what they are doing at the power plant? The whole area is fenced off.
  20. lol. As I was reading though this thread, I saw this, and was getting ready to post the pictures here. Glad I kept reading. I found this site about an hour ago, and the two threads I've read so far have had quotes from me from SSP. As with BLVD Place, I live across the street from this site, so as soon as anything interesting happens there, I'll let you guys know.
  21. Cool! I was quoted from another site. The Ritz Carlton is one of those things that we probably won't know for sure until the building is done and the signs go up. Initially, it was going to be a 50+ story Ritz, then two 30+ story towers, then one 30+ story tower, then it was cancelled entirely, then they said it was going to happen, then they cancelled again. Now all we have is that there is a planned "luxury hotel" on the site. One thing I like to see from all of the site plans is that the Hanover Residential Tower has not changed at all. That tells me those plans are pretty set, regardless of what the press releases say. As for progress on the site, I can keep you guys updated daily as soon as something starts happening. Even more so in about a month. Right now, I'm in a unit in my building that on the first floor looking away from the site, but by the end of February, I should be moved into a unit on the 6th floor with a pretty good view over the entire site. Right now it's a giant field of grass, but, as I told SSP, the minute something interesting happens, I'll let you know.
