  1. From 2/2/2013. Not a great photo. This thing has some presence on the highway.
  2. Parking garage is about 1/3 done. It's full height on the south side. Visible to the bottom left of the building below. Taken early this morning.
  3. First of all... awesome photos. You might check out the top of the parking garage behind the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. It's 6 or 7 stories tall. I remembering needing to park on the roof for a performance, and then basically sitting there for 30 minutes in traffic (on the roof) waiting for the whole structure to clear. It's been a while, but I recall the view of downtown being pretty nice. While this may sound ridiculous... you could probably get a cool shot from the top of the ferris wheel at the aquarium. Two others that will take a bit more panache... 1) The top floor of the Renaissance hotel is all meeting spaces. If you show up in business attire in the middle of the day and don't be obnoxious, it shouldn't be a deal (buy a laptop bag for the camera). Also, there's a straight shot glass elevator to the top, which is pretty cool. 2) The top floor of the Westin Oaks Galleria is the same.
  4. The McDonalds is officially closed. If you need a burger in the north Post Oak area... God help you. You will have to schlep down to the Jack in the Box on San Felipe. Wah waaaah. Post Oak Park: Retail Center At 4520 San Felipe St.
  5. I'm not saying I don't love it, I'm just saying it's not an office park 40 miles out. It has a very Ayn Rand feel to it...
  6. Update on the political wrangling around this one. A person can dream... http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/01/10/4539292/officials-wrangle-over-rail-study.html
  7. True statement... as is coming into Houston from the East.
  8. Well at least, I think it's a natural gas station (for filling up your car... on natural gas). Built at the intersection of McCue and Guilford. Photo below. Kind of cool. Kind of a goofy spot, though I know that's where their office space is. http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg515/SkylineView/ApacheGas_zps5072899d.jpg
  9. Thanks for the info. So there will now be a Wells Fargo, next to an Icon, next to a Chase, next to a ___ (whatever they built on the tiny piece of land at the edge of Blvd Place... seems reasonable.
  10. Overall site & new steel... Walkathon going on in the bottom left. The u/c apartment tower is going in on the right hand side of the screen about where the long white trailer is. This view looks toward the southwest.
  11. As someone who builds models for a living... has the METRO ever publicly released any of their data? I have to assume that they have (probably several times) hired consultants to put together data and reports detailing income levels, traffic flow, growth projections, detailed breakdowns of density by zip and sub-zip, resi to commercial travel & employment etc... I would love to get the data and just play around with it. I'm not saying I could come up with anything (this is a bit outside my day-to-day), but it would be interesting, and might let the 'common public' put some numbers behind the rhetoric.
  12. I totally agree... */ stands & applauds Much appreciated sir.
  13. Is this still progressing? I realize they are likely working on the interior, but I haven't been able to discern any external progress in quite some time.
  14. Does anyone know anything about the consultants they hired to re-imagine the Metro? http://www.houstontomorrow.org/livability/story/metro-selects-team-for-system-re-imagining-project/
  15. If they push the McD's all the way left (east) and just leave 7 feet for the drive through... I think there's ample room. Photo below to show the footprint of Cosmo, which is not large. I assume this will be similar. Will we get more awesome wall art on Post Oak?!?!
  16. That's pretty interesting. Here's the site... (taken with my phone... it's 8am and I'm feeling lazy).
