  1. 3/30/2013: Weekly Update. Work to frame out the roof of the northeast portion of the underground garage / floor of the frost bank / parking lot.
  2. After (what seemed like) a long hiatus in terms of visible progress, this project has kicked into high gear. All wood construction.
  3. Green fence up around the old store now. Saw people carrying things out a few days ago.
  4. Post Oak will be widened significantly. The transit down the middle is roughly an additional 30 feet of ROW (accounting for the existing median). I put some info in another post a while back (http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/27043-bus-lanes-down-post-oak/?hl=%2Bpost+%2Boak). I'm anticipating they take pretty much every inch available (1200 loses the front lawn, CPK gets a sidwalk right up to their front door etc...). Part of the plan is better sidewalks, so that is something to look forward to.
  5. Couldn't agree more. The volume of trees removed is staggering... and ongoing (the view from 610 is starting to look pretty horrendous as the dead-wood is dragged out). A 'replant Memorial Park' campaign started last year, and you can see the baby trees around the loop. I read somewhere that volunteers have planted thousands of trees in Memorial, but It's a drop in the bucket and will take 30 years to get the canopy back to what it was. Stupid drought. Link to the Memorial Park conservancy website: http://www.memorialparkconservancy.org/ (Side note, the rodeo gave them $250,000 which is pretty great) I love that park.
  6. Great post. For the record... let me say that I would not know the difference between concrete, lean concrete, or a soil stabilization material. It was grey and came out of a cement truck, that's all I know. Photos from this week... 3/13/2013: They dug out the perimeter and uncovered the footings (thanks PurdueEnginerd). 3/15/2013:
  7. This thing has a $hit-ton of steel sticking out of the ground. It's standing about 6 feet high, on top of the 15 feet that goes down into the hole. Sorry for the quality, it was a shot-gun photo on my phone as I rocketed by.
  8. It's not much, but this one showed up among the trees. It's immediately above the gables (in front of the power lines) on the left.
  9. 3/9/2013 Weekly Update (of the McD): They filled in each of the holes with about a foot (?) of concrete, covered them up, trenched out everything for the plumbing, put that in, and covered it up.
  10. I agree with Golyadkin. I was early in criticizing the frontage, but with the wall gone, you can see a bright glass lobby that will face Post Oak. It's not going to blow anyone away, but it's a good fill for the area. Better than an empty lot.
