The Woodlands College Park High School At 3701 College Park Dr.
VicMan replied to bachanon's topic in Points North
2400 in 9-10 isn't so bad - Lamar and Bellaire in Houston ISD have over 3,000. Alief Elsik and Hastings each have about 3,800 total in two campuses (9 and 10-12). Does 2000 per school sound better?- 28 replies

Plano ISD now has five 9-10 campuses with about 1,800 students and three 11-12 campuses with 2,500 students each. Would it be better if Plano ISD simply had eight 9-12 campuses?- 28 replies

It looks like McCollough became a 9th grade campus, with TWHS handling 10-12...- 28 replies

There's also the Bellaire Theater in West University Place... It later became a Discovery Zone and I think it is now either vacant or a part of Whole Foods.

That's good news to hear - More chain hotels need to be built downtown. The economy and trade within the Houston city limits needs to become more and more centered in Downtown. The chains that do not have a hotel in Downtown include: * Marriott * Ritz-Carlton (Especially since the old Uptown hotel is now a St. Regis) * Sheraton (perhaps a W Hotel - Houston needs a W Hotel) * Sonesta * Wyndham

The Soccer team should keep the Astrodome used. In the meantime, Houston ISD should use the 'Dome more often. It should be the home stadium of the following high schools: * Bellaire * Lamar * Yates If there is no nearby stadium that serves Westside, Lee, and maybe Sharpstown, the Astrodome can be a good home stadium too. If a better stadium is ever built to serve those schools or if the Astrodome gets plans that would convert it into a theme park, then HISD can stop using it.

Houston Potential Projects That Were Never Built

What about the Ritz Carlton? I think Ritz should come back to Texas and build that proposed building in Houston. -
Horn Elementary School At 10734 Bissonnet St.
VicMan replied to VicMan's topic in Katy and Points West
Horn is at 10734 Bissonnet, Houston TX 77099 According to the zoning maps, Horn in the general zoning area is relieving Boone and Smith Elementary schools. In fact, Boone's attendance boundary is somewhat shifted to the left. This caused Alexander ES's boundary to shift left also, taking a piece of Hicks ES' boundary. As for the bilingual zoning, Horn relieved Chambers, Kennedy, and Landis. Horn was Elementary number 23 before it was given a name. EDIT: Horn students go on to Klentzman Intermediate (Grades 5 - 6) and Olle Middle (7 - 8). -

I noticed that the Alief ISD elementary school boundaries were altered between 04-05 and 05-06. A new school, "Horn", appeared on the map. Is this a new Alief ISD elementary school?

Seven Lakes High School At 9251 South Fry Rd.
VicMan replied to VicMan's topic in Katy and Points West
Katy has the following high schools: * Katy * Mayde Creek * Cinco Ranch * Morton Ranch * Seven Lakes * Katy Taylor * An alternative school So yes, Katy has seven high schools. If I remained in Houston, I would be choosy in determining which HISD schools I would want my kid to go to, as I know that HISD has some really good schools. -

"see what happens when a school district spends there money more wisely. Inner city school in Houston have no excuse. HISD needs to clean up its adminstration and wasteful spending. Schools need to drop all this special course and get back to the basics. Money can be spent on learning the three R's versus silly courses like diversity and tolerance training. I mean, ours kids won't read or do math, but they definitely know how not to offend someone because they had diverty and tolerance courses. " What wasteful spending are you talking about? "Money can be spent on learning the three R's versus silly courses like diversity and tolerance training. " Those courses don't exist at my school, and I doubt they exist at schools like Lamar and Bellaire... And yes, HISD is building brand new schools too. Four new HISD elementary schools will open this school year (while five closed after last year). -
Katy ISD built a new high school, Seven Lakes High School, to relieve nearby high schools. Any thoughts on the new building?

The School At St. George Place At 5430 Hidalgo St.
VicMan posted a topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
A new elementary school will be built for the Galleria area that will relieve nearby schools. The School @ Post Oak will relocate to the St. George Place school when it opens, as will Briargrove Elementary. Briargrove will move out once the new Briargrove campus is complete. St. George Place will also take some of the zoning boundary of Will Rogers Elementary School, which is closing because the land it is on was sold. -
South End Junior High School At 1300 Holman St.
VicMan replied to VicMan's topic in Historic Houston
My sister went to Lamar, and it's a pretty good school. What could be done here is that people in one school's attendance zone have the option to attend the other, and vice versa (this is done with West Briar and Revere Middle Schools). -
What if HISD turned it into a year-round high school stadium? (Perhaps it can be the "home" stadium for Bellaire HS, Lamar HS, and a few others)

South End Junior High School, located at 1300 Holman street. I know that HCC is using the old San Jacinto High School as a part of HCCS Central. However, I wonder if HISD can buy the building back and remodel or tear down and build a brand new building for a new school. Perhaps people who are zoned to Gregory-Lincoln want a zoned school that is closer to them than Lamar (the current zone school for much of the Gregory-Lincoln area) is. However, HISD could mainly make this school into a magnet school that could relieve nearby high schools such as Lamar. I'm not sure if HCC is willing to let go of the San Jacinto building, though..

TWHS has two Campuses McCullough has about 2,500 students and covers grades 9 - 10 The main TWHS campus holds the same number for 11 - 12. However, this may change with the opening of College Park.- 28 replies
