  1. You don't quite understand - word of mouth can easily be passed from kid to parent... and many people who go to LHS have wealthy and influential parents!
  2. Hmm... the condo will look funny alongside the Four Leaf Towers. And, as usual, another school zoning post (even though not too many people in condos have kids to begin with)... Zoned Houston ISD schools: * Briargrove Elementary School - http://www.bgroadrunners.org/ * Grady Middle School - http://ms.houstonisd.org/gradyms/ A choice of: * Lamar High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/lamarhs/ * Lee High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/leehs/ * Westside High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/westsidehs/ Profiles: * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Briargrove_ES.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Grady_MS.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lamar_HS.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lee_HS.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Westside_HS.pdf
  3. The Vanguard High School plans to move in to the old building...
  4. http://es.houstonisd.org/suttones/Sutton/History.htm - The school was "relocated" to Sharpstown.
  5. I had the opposite experience - I went to River Oaks Elementary School. In the 5th grade we travelled to Port Houston Elementary School to learn about the ship channel. The school's cafeteria felt like a prison to me!
  6. I would tell your friend to check out the apartment complex in person - Maybe ask the manager for a tour. All I know about the complex is where it is zoned for school - Your friend probably isn't concerned about that, but I am including this anyway... Zoned Houston ISD schools: * Briargrove Elementary School - http://www.bgroadrunners.org/ * Grady Middle School - http://ms.houstonisd.org/gradyms/ A choice of: * Lamar High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/lamarhs/ * Lee High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/leehs/ * Westside High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/westsidehs/ Profiles: * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Briargrove_ES.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Grady_MS.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lamar_HS.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lee_HS.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Westside_HS.pdf
  7. The (Houston ISD) schools that Riverside Terrace is zoned to include - Four separate elementary schools: * Lockhart Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/LockhartES/ * Macarthur Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/MacArthurES/ * Thompson Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/ThompsonES/ * Turner Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/TurnerES/ Two separate middle schools: * Cullen Middle School - http://ms.houstonisd.org/cullenms/ * Ryan Middle School - http://ms.houstonisd.org/ryanms/ All residents are zoned to: * Yates High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/yateshs/ Profiles: http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lockhart_ES.pdf http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Macarthur_ES.pdf http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Thompson_ES.pdf http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Turner_ES.pdf http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Cullen_MS.pdf http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Ryan_MS.pdf http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Yates_HS.pdf I heard wealthier residents of Riverside Terrace get transfers to schools on Houston's west side...
  8. EDIT: I notice that, in the 2007-2008 school year, a lot of apartment complexes south of Westheimer that are zoned to Briargrove in 2006-2007 will be instead zoned to Pilgrim in 2008. I took this list: http://www.houstoncl.com/briargrove/briargr003.htm And with the help of these two maps: *2006-2007: http://dept.houstonisd.org/ab/schoolbounda...iargrove_ES.pdf *2007-2008: http://www.stgeorgeplace.com/HISD__school_zoning_2007.pdf ... I found a list of apartment complexes zoned to Briargrove that will stay, and complexes that won't. Keep in mind any complexes zoned to Pilgrim for 2006-2007 that are east of Fountainview will be zoned to St. George Place for 2007-2008. 9. Bambolino's moved to 1525 Westheimer. By the way, I wonder why the Sweet Mesquite/Starfire Grill (3801 Bellaire Boulevard in the city of Southside Place) closed.
  10. Since the project is a go - I'll post the school stuff below. Anyway, the old and new buildings are as different as night and day - The old building is bland while the new looks so flashy. I'd like to see how this turns out. I've been told that Houston ISD loves condominiums; they get few kids and they get a lot of taxable money! Schools (Houston ISD): * Poe Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/poees/ * Lanier Middle School - http://ms.houstonisd.org/lanierms/ * Lamar High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/lamarhs/ Profiles: * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Poe_ES.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lanier_MS.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lamar_HS.pdf
  11. I would like to see that Target someday - I would also like to see what accompanies the Target
  12. I am a high school student.
  13. The final name appears to be Camden City Centre It is at 301 Saint Joseph's Parkway at 77002. The zoned Houston ISD schools are: * Gregory-Lincoln Education Center (grades Kindergarten through 8) - http://ms.houstonisd.org/gregorylincoln/ * Reagan High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/reaganhs/ Profiles * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Gregor...onCenter_ES.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Reagan_HS.pdf
  14. The townhomes are zoned to the following Houston ISD schools: * J. Will Jones Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/Jwjoneses/ * Gregory-Lincoln Education Center (grades 6 through 8) - http://ms.houstonisd.org/gregorylincoln/ * Lamar High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/lamarhs/ Profiles * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/JWJones_ES.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Gregor...onCenter_ES.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lamar_HS.pdf
  15. HSPVA wants a bigger and better building - It's not like the old location will go to waste, though - HISD plans to move another school into the old building
  16. 102 Quitman is zoned to the following Houston ISD schools: * Ketelsen Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/ketelsenes/ * Marshall Middle School - http://es.houstonisd.org/marshallms/ * Davis High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/davishs/ Profiles: * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Ketelsen_ES.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Marshall_MS.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Davis_HS.pdf Here's a note - Ketelsen was established in fall 2002 as a merger between Lamar Elementary School and Lee Elementary School - Both Lee and Lamar closed spring 2002, and Ketelsen was opened in fall 2002. Websites: * http://es.houstonisd.org/lamares/ * http://es.houstonisd.org/leees/ Remember: If you aren't satisfied with your zoned schools, you can transfer your kids into other schools.
  17. http://www.houstonisd.org/HISDPortal/depar...4872298,00.html This page says the project is still at hold. Grayhomes, are you looking at 4001 Stanford? (that is where HSPVA's building will go) * EDIT: Actually 4001 Stanford is the OLD address! I have no idea why the bond page doesn't mention the new address! Or are you looking at 1101 Taft? (this is where the new Gregory-Lincoln will go) See http://www.houstonisd.org/HISDPortal/depar...4882212,00.html about Gregory-Lincoln
  18. Montione Villas is zoned to: * J. Will Jones Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/Jwjoneses/ * Gregory-Lincoln Education Center (for grades 6 through 8 only) - http://ms.houstonisd.org/gregorylincoln/ * Lamar High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/lamarhs/ Profiles: * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/JWJones_ES.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Gregor...onCenter_ES.pdf * http://dept.houstonisd.org/profiles/Lamar_HS.pdf
  19. http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/kho...ar.1e0e4f4.html They let Ashley Benton go on bond! How dumb was that? The gang members may find her...
  20. Katie, this particular Riverside Terrace is the neighborhood in the Third Ward area.
  21. Barnes and Noble will be in a pickle - they are messing with the wrong people! If Lamar didn't have uniforms, I would encourage kids going to that school to wear T-shirts in support of the theatre and bookstore. In fact, the people who created the uniform policy should realize that this hurts community efforts (since wearing T-shirts supporting movements in a large school spreads word about the movement really, really quickly)
  22. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westbury_High_School_(Houston)
  23. The apartments are in the village, and they are zoned to the three mentioned schools. See http://www.ricevillageonline.com/show_map_...es.php?show=250
  24. Wait, Rice Village will have residents within its boundaries? From what I can tell, there are no condos and apartments actually in Rice Village. If Rice Village gets residents, this is where they would be zoned to (assuming zoning boundaries stay current): * Poe Elementary School - http://es.houstonisd.org/poees/ * Lanier Middle School - http://ms.houstonisd.org/lanierms/ * Lamar High School - http://hs.houstonisd.org/lamarhs/
