They should replace one of the parking lots with a fenced dog park.
-
oh come on.
-
Unless they plan on using those houses as additional businesses... I hate them. Stop tearing things down for parking!

Elevators - ooh la la. Fancy. I don't mind the aesthetic though.

It was a huge missed opportunity when they tore down half of the original campus to replace it with... low density garden apartments, but uglier.

They really did a great job on the windows.
-
It's a what exactly now?
-
Not really. Is it all of them or any specific ones that are confusing? I will say I think a second lane always makes a roundabout a bit more confusing and stressful. This one isn't too bad, but I do think the inside westbound lane when turning right from Washington is a little confusing. Can you continue into the turn or do you have to continue through the roundabout from that lane?
-
Yes of course. The people of Houston, a city of immigrants that's more than 1/4 foreign-born, will never be able to learn how to use a roundabout. We are just that dumb.

About those Metro proposals along Richmond in Montrose
Texasota replied to trymahjong's topic in Transit
That would be great. These things really help at unsignaled intersections. -
I'd also say it looks better in person than in photos. There's a depth to the detailing that's really only perceptible with the naked eye.

The sidewalk in front of Heights Social is fine. This is just an ugly, cheap looking building from the outside. But that's also exacerbated by its immediate neighbors. This is perfectly fine infill, but its best neighbor is that awful bar with its unspeakable name.
-
That just looks like HDR abuse to me.

Shell Building, Restaurant - 1808 N. Shepherd Dr.
Texasota replied to hindesky's topic in The Heights
yeah if they close the bikeway is a convenient scapegoat. -
uh, no offense, but this is just some exurban strip mall development. They're not even trying for a "town center". It's just strip malls and pad sites.

Lower Westheimer Road Construction
Texasota replied to trymahjong's topic in Traffic and Transportation
No left turns on to or out of Stanford - they're proposing a center island with cutouts for bikes and pedestrians to pass through. As someone who used to live on Stanford, I am *hugely* in favor of this. -
I haven't seen any issues with traffic over the last week, even with work still ongoing as you get closer to Shepherd.
-
It's an obvious (and fantastic) location for an infill station. If Metro owns that much land, hopefully they can load it up with a Bcycle station and protected bike parking to take advantage of the trail. And a little coffee shop.
-
Bcycle has subsidized membership options, and bikes have maintenance and occasional replacement costs. "lucky enough to live next to one" - again, the system becomes more useful to more people the more you expand it. This just isn't the zero sum game you're trying to portray it as. You don't have to use bikeshare; that doesn't mean it isn't useful.
