  1. Also, during rush hour these buses will almost certainly be substantially faster than driving, and there people who live along this corridor. Even if they don't walk except from the station to their destination, it will be a tempting alternative to sitting in traffic. Or at least, it would be for me.
  2. I agree with that; I just don't agree with your assessment that Lucienne is part of the problem. Part of that might just be my hope that Lucienne will actually be a good restaurant, rather than *just* a hotel restaurant. Oxbow 7 is open nights a week, and I think the food is mediocre and overpriced. That's one thing Downtown does not need any more of.
  3. Anyway, plenty of restaurants (particularly more chef-driven ones) are closed one day of the week. Often that's a Monday, but Lucienne went with Sunday, and not even the whole day. They are doing a Sunday brunch. Their hours are actually pretty expansive - 6:30am-10pm M-F (with a mid-afternoon break), 11am-10pm on Saturday (with a mid-afternoon break), and 11am-2:30pm Sunday. In no way is that suggestive of any sort of "Nobody stays downtown on the weekends" mentality.
  4. See, I assumed it stood for something, like: Kickin' Butt Till Dawn, or something, for people who don't like saying "butt."
  5. Wait wait wait wait. So they are going to include the banking hall as part of the food hall? Because that is definitely not shown on the floorplan. Don't get me wrong; I potentially support it. It would double the size of the food hall for one thing. But they had better not screw it up. That space is too good.
  6. How about Swamp College? I would also accept University of Buffalo Bayou.
  7. That is absolutely fantastic. I look forward to seeing what the long-term plans end up being.
  8. That's an indirect fix. Residential parking permits (with visitors' passes) would actually address that problem.
  9. Hopefully quickly. Campo needs to be shamed into starting the second building as soon as possible.
  10. That's bizarre. Why so much wasted space? To clarify, a surface lot in and of itself is wasted space, but this one looks oddly inefficient. What's with the huge drive lane on the left, or the weird slip lane at the top? Was this even designed, or did they just start painting without measuring anything first?
  11. My understanding is that the plan is for Polk to stay connected. That said, you are correct that the freeway cap will not extend that far, so it will look pretty similar to how it does now, except the freeway will be wider.
  12. This is intended to be a food hall. They absolutely *could* add clothing or similar retail, but I would really be surprised by that. And New York has a number of food halls with no other retail, as do lots of other cities. Houston is a bit behind the times on them.
  13. ...and yet the market will provide. Which just goes to show how absurd the City's parking requirements outside the CBD are.
  14. I mean, that's sort of what they've been doing, though I don't think anything's been demoed. It's such a huge site, they wouldn't need to tear down any of the buildings; just break up the concrete parking lots and throw down some sod.
  15. I'm aware of all that, but I can dream, can't I?
  16. Eh, maybe we'll get lucky and developers will stop building on greenfields and focus on the all the vacant land we still have in the city.
  17. I mean, there are patios on Main Street with a 0' setback.
  18. Yeah, this project absolutely would have happened with less parking. This was forced on the developer by the city, and resulted in a lesser product than it needed to be.
  19. Well, no, it would increase its capacity substantially. It would make it harder for people in cars to speed down Washington to get Downtown, but that seems like a good thing to me. You people have I-10, Memorial, AND Allen Parkway. You're fine.
