  1. All of the restaraunts and bars near Gray yesterday were PACKED since there was nice weather and tons of people walking around. Cafe Layal seemed to be the only place to not really have that many people.
  2. Started a new project back downtown this week after being in the energy cooridor for the past year and a half. I couldn't be happier.
  3. Sucks for the Midtown location for the time being, but I'm glad to see Regent Square moving forward. It's been a long time coming.
  4. Another article from the Chronicle discussing the new bars/restaurants opening up in this area. http://www.chron.com/life/articleComments/New-crop-of-talent-is-bringing-downtown-back-to-4272917.php
  5. I'm surprised that there will be an Alamo Drafthouse here as well. The one in Midtown hasn't even began construction yet, so I wonder if possibly they decided to change locations?
  6. wow just drove by that MCD last week...poof! Looking forward to the Astoria going up, I really like this building.
  7. Site plans http://www.crosspointproperties.com/3001_Louisiana_Plans.pdf
  8. I came across this and haven't seen it before. It looks like an office building with a parking garage built on the lot next to where they plan to build the new Alamo Drafthouse. http://www.crosspointproperties.com/all_properties.html
  9. I've seen alot of work going on inside of Phase 2 everyday I drive by. They've recentley covered up the windows so you can't see inside, so hopefully things will open up sometime in the near future.
  10. While I doubt the Midtown location will open this year because I haven't seen any construction yet, hopefully this means ground breaking will happen sometime soon... "The Alamo Drafthouse also plans to open its first inner-loop location later this year. It will be located in the Midtown area at 2901 Louisiana St. as part of a mixed-use project developed by Crosspoint Properties." http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2013/01/25/under-construction-work-underway-on.html
  11. I love mixed-use developments with grown floor retail like most people, but as the barracuda stated, not every building in many walkable neighborhoods across the country has ground floor retail. As long as apartments are built pedestrian friendly with wide sidewalks, street furniture, ect, then I think it's a win for Midtown.
  12. I live at Post and all of the restaurants are always busy, especially in the evenings and weekends.
  13. This apt complex and the new MATCH building will definitly jumpstart this area for redevelopment
  14. Looks like this project should be moving along soon. http://www.bisnow.com/commercial-real-estate/houston/loch-ness-of-financing-2/
  15. Oh yea I forgot about the retail building planned for the empty lot next to Cafe Layal. I haven't heard anything about it in a while so hopefully it is still on board.
  16. Downtown! I'm 26 and work for a consulting company. My previous project was at Shell downtown, now i'm stuck at BP in the energy cooridor. Once this one ends, I'm praying I can land my next one with Shell or Chevron so I can be downtown again. It also helps that I live in Midtown...

  18. bummer... http://swamplot.com/the-mostly-glass-building-that-wont-be-replacing-the-downtown-macys/2012-12-28/
  19. I guess we have the same minds. When H&M announced it was opening stores in Houston, I thought opening it in the Pavilions would be huge. While it sucks that this is closing down, bookstores in general haven't been doing that great lately. Hopefully they can land a huge tenant to occupy this space.
  20. ok enough about homeless people, they're in every major city. Back to Christmas wish lists lol...
  21. 1) More Mixed-Use development/Less strip malls 2) Speed up the development of the Alamo Drafthouse 3) Scout square development across from Blackfinn to open the restaraunts/bars that were mentioned a while ago. 4) Grayhound station moves 5) Did I mention more mixed-use?
  22. Hopefully It's another residential highrise development taking advantage of the Chapter 380 program.
