  1. Live sports bar is no Christian's Tailgate, not even close. Lives food sucked, the ambiance sucked and the service was terrible.
  2. Yeah it's too bad we don't have professional sports teams in baseball and basketball, that would be another 162 games for MLB and 82 games for the NBA. An added bonus would be if those teams were competitive and made it to the playoffs, like the Western Conference finals, that would be even MORE games to watch at the bar.But yeah, sucks Christians only has 16 games of football a year to draw people in.
  3. Look, I'm glad they're refurbing an abandoned homeless urinal, how bout that. One less abandoned building in downtown.
  4. I think I read once that I.M. Pei originally designed Texas Commerce Tower at 80 stories but the FAA made them knock it down to 75. Don't know if its true but we would still have the tallest building West of the Mississippi if it was.
  5. I never understood this ridiculous ordinance in Houston that basically puts a hard ceiling on our skyline. I've lived in downtown/midtown for years and I have NEVER seen a plane come "dangerously" close to any of our buildings, the flight path to hobby misses downtown altogether. What makes it utterly ridiculous is the fact that when I fly into NYC-Laguardia, I can practically see people waving at me on the Empire state buildings observation deck. Houston ALWAYS has some stupid rule or person or backwards way of thinking holding it back, I swear. Go figure.
  6. It really does, that looks freaking AWESOME. It looks like something out of NYC or Chicago.
  7. Gross. I think that looks like vomit, just my opinion.
  8. This ^My buddy who is a tower op usually gets to work about 30 mins early for the climb. He says that's his exercise for the day. The good thing is they only have to make that climb twice a day, because once you're up there, there's no coming down until the shift is over.
  9. Well to be fair, Manhattan's had a bit of a headstart on us, not to mention a major geographical advantage.I for one would love to see what the little ol' city on the bayou is gonna look like in the year 2115, assuming humanity survives for that long, but I'll be long dead by then.
  10. The renderings again, Philip Johnson/Alan Ritchie architects. I think there is definitely a little Transco tower inspiration in this building, all it's missing is the black spotlight housing on top.
  11. Or maybe second? How big is Chicagos? Would you say Chi-towns skyline goes from Roosevelt to North blvd? How many blocks is that? How many miles? I know Manhattan is an insane 13 miles long of nothing but buildings.
  12. Ya know, I used to think it was just a pipe dream, but now with this project, the 54 story Museo, and other future high rises, along with the Pierce elevated coming down, I can really see the possibility of the skylines merging to make one giant skyline, it would rival Chicago and Manhattan. (Still a pipe dream)
  13. Uhhh, what? I think we've gone off topic here, I'm confused.
  14. Interesting question.I don't think adding a station is feasible, they are placed strategically equidistant from eachother, adding a platform would disrupt the flow not to mention the huge cost and construction. Three blocks isn't a lot in other fair weather cities, but in Houston, three blocks in 90% humidity in the middle of August with a 115° heat index is brutal, enough to ruin your day and your outfit.
  15. Mother of God, FIFTY-FOUR FLOORS!!!!This would be the Transco Tower of the Museum District, second tallest building outside of downtown Houston.
  16. Ok,don't do this to me Urbannizer, I can't handle another Bank of the Southwest, Shamrock, Chevron Tower right now, too down in the dumps with the oil bust.
  17. Or a Top Golf on the roof of the George R. Brown....
  18. That's my dream! For our downtown to really grow into something that competes with the big boys it needs to grow outward, with more skyscrapers north of Chase tower and south of the Pierce elevated.Once the Pierce is torn down, we could effectively DOUBLE the size of our downtown if you start building skyward in midtown. It's all the same street grid pattern!!
  19. Yes, tower crane bases become part of the finished structure.
