  1. How many? Just kidding. I love the reference to HWY6 There is nothing high-speed about a street with stop light, it is bad enough they are trying to pass tollways as freeway for us non- EZ tag users. Just waiting in line at the toll booth defeats the purpose of getting on it to begin with. But I digress.
  2. He is European, he still needs to adjust from the SI (Systems International) to the English units!
  3. Ok, when I think River Oaks, I think San Felipe and Upper Kirby, both or which are nice areas. And you thinking more on the Allen Parkway/4th Ward side?
  4. Hopefully you have $$$, becuase River Oaks is top dollar land. The Uptown area and the Museum District is great too.
  5. I hope I am not repeting information. I heard on the radio this morning that the expected demolition date to start in late 2006, with the Landmark Theatre being demo'd in early 2008. Here is a link to a petition site with already over 20,000 signatures update: ok so the link is a repeat, I just found it earlier on the last page, but at least it might find some new eyes just in case people only read the latest post.
  6. I agree, but the need to introduce some outside landscaping with the project and some trees. I have to agree with the parking lot overwhelming the entire site. It is just too much surface lots. They should build 2 garages and either side and wreck out the surface lot for some much needed greenery.
  7. I bet Sharpstown happened too. so long Foley's Looks like the Galleria one with be the last one to linger before it ultimately dies.
  8. The Galleria really needs residential towers, and a small grocery store. It will truley be a city within a city.
  9. I am just spoiled with Stadium seating, and it would be nice. Also, if they could make it bigger and add more theatres, like 6 instead of 3 (I think I has 3), it could better complete with more variety.
  10. I could imagine that the mark-up they have to maintain was the hardest part, so people went further out of town to get better deals Is the new mock-up anywhere else other than the print edition of the Chronicle?
  11. Can't they just save the front facade and have a new interior, I think that is was most people are attached too, the entrance and the marquee.
  12. Wow, our Houston downtown does have one thing in common with the Woodlands town center, lack of people to be seen in photos. How depressing it looks compared to the weekends.
  13. The Target off Westhiemer had a private party that day too, and it will open on the 23rd. It has a uniquie feature in that it is built up 8 feet from the street level and has a brick wall on the street side.
  14. That is true (and annoying), I think after 7 days it becomes a dead link and you have to sign up for something, but either way, the "editor" might have to take it off eventually. I was just checking to see if you did know. Don't forget non-terrorist Persians!
  15. The Dome does NOT need to be torn down, it is a strong reliable structure that can be reused. And just so you know musicman, it is bad practive to copy and paste the ENTIRE article, no matter if you gave the orignal author credit. HAIF has had issues with this from both the Chron and HBJ. Post a blurb, and then the link.
  16. You must have not been there for the All-star game (Baseball and Basketball), Superbowl Weekend, The Essence Festival, etc. The Houston Galleria is the BIGGEST target of anything touristy that has the potential to bring Hollywood celebrities to Houston, and causes a mad rush of "star-struck" fans to clog the stores, especially Neiman Marcus. It is a cirucs on those days, just seeing the people wander around looking to see if Jessica Simpson is looking at a perfume.
  17. I actually agree, I am amazed at how little the people north of I-10 going up Gessner care about their neighborhoods. There is SO much litter on the street compare to the south end going towards memorial. The comment was fair in my opinion.
  18. I wonder what will happen to the old Joe Auto shopping center, is that the location of the condo mid rise?
  19. Well, they are building it from scratch, so it is up to the planners. It is proven research that grid neighborhoods with small blocks improve pedestrian activity.
  20. If we have another hurricane hit New Orleans, it will get GREAT business! page!
