  1. I just wasted over 2 hours on that site? OMG very interesting and SO well presented. I never thought freeways were so interesting. The chapter about belt-way 8 and Memorial Bend and Jersey Village contraversies are very interesting though.
  2. I grew up around the Dairy Ashofrd roller rink. Try that one.
  3. This is my 2 cents on this, but this is the lamest argument I have ever read. I did laugh, but only because at how stupid the topic was. Can we get back to talking about memorial city mall and not about a versus battle between the galleria?
  4. Houston Pavillions and Riva Place!?!?! how could you get them confused?
  5. Going back to that post earlier from Toni, I bets she is refering to the Tremont Towers, I was reading a post in the Crater Houston Alliance Threads and found this. http://www.hobb.org/hobbv2/index.php?optio...d=25&Itemid=147 ------read below-------- Think you can't afford to live here? Juliet Homes/First Texas Residential and Bernie Kane, "creative accounting superstar," will magically make it appear that your income is double to get you in, even if you have a negative net worth of $18,000. Hey what a great guy. He'll pay your first 6 months of mortgage payments, maybe 2 years of association dues, throw in a washer and dryer. He'll do whatever it takes! --------------------------- I wonder if she is complaining about them, and yes, SPAMing the boards.
  6. That sounds interesting, I wonder if it will get some street traffic from pedistrians, since it is the closest to the sidewalk. Having a cafe or a bar would be great, even though another anchor store will be greatly missed. I love the area between Dillards and Neimans to see so much pedestrian traffic, That is the only place in uptown that has that feeling, and it is not even an intersection. And Foley's is considering closing down. . that is news to me. Here is an article about the T&C NM closing down ------------ Houston Business Journal - 12:28 PM CST Thursday Neiman Marcus to close Town & Country store The Neiman Marcus Group Inc. is closing its 142,000-square-foot Neiman Marcus store located in the Town & Country Mall. The store, which opened in 1983, will be closed by mid-September. The Dallas-based luxury retailer added that its 160 employees will be offered transfer opportunities to other stores or will receive severance packages. "The decision to close this store was very difficult as we value the customer relationships we have established in this market," said Burton Tansky, president and CEO of Neiman Marcus Group. "However, this store did not meet our long term operational goals." Neiman Marcus has had a presence in the Houston community for more than 35 years with its store located at the Galleria. That store will continue to stay in operation. The company said Wednesday it is considering putting itself up for sale as it explores ways to boost shareholder value. Neiman (NYSE: NMG) added that it will not disclose developments until its board has approved a transaction. The company has hired Goldman Sachs & Co. as its financial adviser.
  7. Wrong again, "google" the neiman marcus town and country location and you will find articles saying that it was supposed to remain, but now it will be closing down for good this fall. It will not be incorporated into the new developement. Sorry to break the news, but the Galleria NM, which is going through a wonderful renovation, will be the only one in Houston after the holiday '05 season passes.
  8. The reason why there are no windows was because they did not want a view of the south, so that is why they have the halls, elevator and such on the south part of the building and the north side can be covered with windows.
  9. I think they look silly that they were designed to look like several small buildings next to each other, but have an outdoor staircase, simply covered up, not even A/C'd for Houston summers. I hope that they installed sound proof window, being so close to the freeway. To get back on topic, I love the person who made that comment that the Mercer looks like a stained unrinal.
  10. Afton Oaks is nice along with Greenway plaza. They are sanwiched in between Memorial and Rice Village. I would recommend NOT living passed the belt-way 8 if you are planning on living in memorial. Unless you have a job in the west side of Houston, traffic congestion in and out of town will become a part of daily life for you. Just some helpful FYI.
