  1. I drove by on Thursday night because I thought I heard music and lo and behold... Live band! I was pleasantly shocked to see so many people strolling around and sitting on/around the lawn. Can't wait to see the crowds when the development is finished. I really am surprised at how well they're pulling this all off so far...

Sounds like it will fill out nicely during the holidays.

  2. I know -- I can't stand those ads. I've been back and forth with the ad serving company trying to stop them. But the ad serving company has been less than helpful. I'm considering cutting the ad company off until it gets its act together.

It's not so bad, I have seen worse before on here, and heck, at least it's not animated.

  3. Interesting post in Wall Street Journal from "Inhistoric.com"

"11/1/09 The date on which the NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL will all be playing games, one of the few times in sports history that all four professional leagues have played on the same day--"

    enjoy!

And that's my b-day. I turn 30. Way more important!

  4. Anyone else feel like going to the gym to get ripped? Maybe take some creatine? Anyone else notice it's like a meat market in here.

I am enjoying ad-free HAIF, but can't help but notice my pre-login time period has gone from "Lower your Interest Rates" to getting "Pumped" up in the gym.

I wonder if I will ever be like Paul or Mike?

  5. I'd like to explain myself for the bizarre posting behavior I've done recently, but not until the "Jerk Meter" (and possibly "The HAIF/Alcohol Paradox") threads are locked. unsure.gif

    Short version...I'm sorry.

    Long version...coming soon.

Can't say I am curious, but I guess I will take the wait and see approach.

  6. Bah - wish I could go. I haven't been to Lone Star in a while but the last few visits were pretty interesting/entertaining.

Can't make it, going to the gym and then dinner.

But thanks for putting this together.

  7. Actually, I wonder if there's a way to make the negative and positive only appear for certain users.

Taking it one step further -- link it to a PayPal API so that every time someone uses the [-] they end up donating money to charity.

Oh, like a probation period, then you have to reach a certain threshold of +'s before you can redeem yourself.

  8. I bet 1% or fewer of the folks who take the carts to their apartments, ever bring them back. I would even venture to say that 99% of the folks taking them, do not give a hoot about the environment. The people taking them, are the people who cant afford cars...they are the people who dont care what your front yard looks like, they are the people who consistently throw trash on the ground...

For those of you who ARE environmentally friendly, they make these cheap little carts that fold up to nothing, and roll....You can actually BUY them yourself, use them yourself, and store them at YOUR house....

When you push that cart out of the parking lot, your not being green, or a good citizen, your a thief...plain and simple. You might as well just not pay for the groceries that you put it in that cart.

I see that too often. It's disappointing to see them stroll with a cart towards their home when they know it's wrong, and they will return to the store and steal another one again.

Jesse, please stop making new threads without searching for a previous similar topic.

Ah heck, I am so happy someone else tags repeaters too!

I doubt KyleJack was suggesting anything close to trouble. He was subtly pointing out if you're going to get in a tizzy about what you perceive as a violation of the rules, you'd better adhere to those rules yourself.

For being a member a little over a month, you sure are active and seem to know your way around.

I have to ask, what was your previous HAIF name?

This is not actually true. I had a pretty close friendship with all of the cart thieves that were bringing product to my cart chop shop operation and I'm quite sure that none of them were arsonists or anything more serious. They did make me a lot of money on carts, though!

I actually packed a smaller shopping cart and trucked it back to my local HEB.

Sadly, the small carts (the ones inbetween a basket and full size cart) are all gone.

People kept them. I am sure for use in the backyard and what not.

  9. I think a proper jerk meter would be to say "you're being a jerk."

the - and + buttons are all fine and good way to see if people agree with what you're saying or if they're calling BS on it. If you don't have an opinion one way or another one it, simply leave it be.

I think that's our new minus-minus. a minus would be "Eh. Don't agree with you", or "You're so full of it." a minus-minus could be "OMG, you're being such a Jerk."

A better solution, rid the "profile" attachment of -/+ and leave it attached to the post in question only.

  10. Actually, I've reached the conclusion that's not my political beliefs. It's either that I'm not old enough to drink (what, three years?) and I live in College Station. I'm younger than you, so you discredit anything I say. Talk about being closed-minded!

I lived in College Station for 4 years, I can't say I enjoyed it much.

But no, it's not because you live there, though, I hope that you wise up and leave as soon as you can from that cookie cutter town.

  11. It's gotten to the point where I don't think I would ever give you a +1, just out of spite.

I think the only time I gave you a +1 was when you actually contributed something I genuinely appreciate.

    Everything else is filler.

Just ignore the issue and it will go away. But this won't happen over night.
