i believe it's open til MLK day.
I was around the 12/26, and the security guard mentioned 1/12.
Maybe they bumped it up a week, but MLK day makes sense, but it is usually cold throughout February too. They should have kept it at least until Valentines Day weekend.
BTW, it looks much smaller in person than the photos reveal. Kinda disappointing.

Negative. There used to be one in the marquis plaza thing there on I-10 and whatever it is now... A long time ago.
huh, you are kidding me right?
Nope. I've been to RR. This was across the walkway from the old Cafe Adobe and the movie theater there.I've been at the Marq*E Center when it first opened, and Vann's Skate Park was still around.
There was NEVER ever a Rain Forest Caf

See my other posts about our country going down the drain.
Back on topic... I havent set foot at this place in years... too much crime and seedy types.
Yeah, you must be mistaking this for Sharpstown Mall.
I don't see the riff raff you speak of, just a bunch of wannabe gansta kids, but it's all cosmetic, nothing to fear.

This might as well be merged with the existing High Street thread since the entire piece is solely about that project.
Curious as to what will become of the first structure that was started. Looked like they had finished putting up the building's framework and were about to start working on the individual floors.
I agree, vote for merge.

Now that WAMU is dead... what now?
The building was almost half way built. With all the exposure, the structure is probably getting mold infested on the inside and should be torn down.
At least the prime lot can host a different structure now, better suited for the current densification of that area.
-
does this mean it will not get torn down if it loses the River Oaks shopping VS Water Wall thread here on HAIF
Waterwall won baby!

So maybe rent-a-cops on golfcarts won't feel the need to annoy certain photographers anymore?
Sweet. Maybe now they will allow pets to be on the property too.

West Oaks mall is not far behind.
No so, unlike Sharpstown Mall, West Oaks had a complete renovation similar to Memorial City. Looks wise, Sharpstown looks dated and the collection of stores within is questionable.

But it's too short to redefine the Galleria.

To generate traffic from Google and generate more ad revenue for Editor so he doesn't have to sell any more of his wife's purses to make rent.
Okay just make me feel bad now why dontcha. I just thought it was a silly idea.

Now we're talking. If we can get someone that is anal retentive enough to put together a database of downtown retailers and then map them out, we'll have a viable thread that Puma won't hate on.
Why reinvent the wheel? I am sure there are tons of links on other Houston related news/blogs that cover this better.

Passive-aggressive thread detected, tunnels likely to be targeted by the end of the first page, ABORT ABORT
Exactly, I see lots of repeated topics in here.
Surely everyone is aware that there is a major national department store downtown. Right?I shop at that Macy's; it's convenient for me. Not often, but that's because I'm not much of a department store shopper.
I have honestly never been inside the downtown Macy's yet. Is it even crowded ever?

CVS and Payless Shoes
I cracked a smile on that, too funny. Yay, I ♥ CVS too . . .
-
Post your info about where to go downtown.
I vote no and rank low. pfft!
Think of something more engaging please. This could be cover with the Pavilions or Tunnel threads.

Wait, which building?
I think he was talking about OPP. . . ya you know me.
-
What he said.
So bkjones, you're down with OPP!
Yeah, you know me!

I can't help but notice ONE thing this rendering: What appears to be a second Convention Center Hotel (w/attached skybridge to GRB)
To be honest, I think this is a leak on that second Convention Center Hotel. We know the city has a desire to see this project through. And its kind of hard to dismiss how much detail was put into this building on this rendering, especially when you consider the rendering also coreectly depicts renderings for the other under-construction projects. I would have dismissed it if Gensler had depicted as a darkened opaque box like some of the other buildings. But the fact that they have illustrated so much detail on that second Convention Hotel leads me to believe this is a leak of a project we dont know much about......yet!
Discuss.
OMG, Brand New Information!
I can't help but notice that ChannelTwoNews already mentioned that.
Discuss.
Also note...in the upper left corner. a vague form of what would be Dynamo StadiumYou must have been reading the Discovery Tower thread and forgot that we read that too?
I tease, I tease!

Houston Embassy Suites Hotel set to break ground in March
Houston Business Journal - by Jennifer Dawson Reporter

19 stories! what da hell!
Yup, it's been posted, heard, and discussed already, without all the direct copy and paste issues from the Houston Chronicle.
-
nice...I guess they're trying to create a 'Central Park' look/feel to compliment DG.
Now Discovery Green need more mature trees.
-
I like the design very much and think it will compliment OPP and the park nicely.
19 or 22, I too can tell it's the old rendering, so maybe the news media got it wrong, or maybe it's 19 floors of hotel space above a 3 story lobby.

That is one of the worst looking webpages I've ever seen.
Straight outta 1996 yo!
-
Does anyone care...? I have the last page...I can scan it...but I don't want to if there's no demand.
Do we get to see that back of the 80's babe?
I don't think I have ever seen a swim suit like that at a family friendly water park.

Hi lock,
As far as we can tell, it's still doing well. We haven't been there since that one visit. Some of my neighbors say it can still be very crowded during peak dining times.
Yeah, a future Marq*E Center.
Busy at the beginning with people discouraged to visit a second time. Bunch of first timers are going out of curiosity it seems.
I got an email from the Pearland Towncenter website that says it will partially reopen today. I haven't been over there yet to assess the damage from Ike.How was the damage, is it fully reopened?
-
Thanks for the pics.
This place looks awesome so far. No qualifications...
It just bothers me that this looks WAY better than the Houston Pavilions, yet it does not get the recognition it deserves.
Here's one (can't find anything else):the music in the video is a complete cheese fest! Stupid generic techno music.
They don't need to try that hard.

Red Robin I know for sure, and yes. . . they was and maybe still is a water fall like decor, but I think that was part of the club before Drink Houston took over.
I think it was Surfer's Paradise.
