So Metro posts a non update, update.
Thought I would share the news.
September 2009The question was asked; When will construction start? We at METRO know that you are anxious for the Uptown Light Rail project to get started, and so are we. As soon as there is an update with definitive information we will let you know. Thanks for your patience, and thanks for your support of the project.

Well, for the FM 2920 location, it was short lived. We ate there a couple of times and the food was good, however passed by a few days ago and it is all boarded up. What's up with that?
Well, where the heck will Jesse and the Rippers play?!?!?

This afternoon Council Member Anne Clutterbuck and Parks and Recreation Director, Joe Turner, Upper Kirby TIRZ and Management District Board Chairmen and others will dedicate the first set of new trees to be planted on Kirby Drive between Richmond and Westheimer.
From the press release:
It's gonna look amazing.
200 gallon trees is not a bad start.

Did anyone post the construction cam, yet?
Nope, but this was probably the best quality construction cam I have seen.
Great find.

Awesome! I'll be working overseas for a about a month and half starting next week... It's going to be awesome to come back to downtown with (hopefully) HP hoppin (lucky strike, mia bella, cork wine bar, 3 forks, etc... open!) and the DG area becoming very vibrant. Seems like it has taken HP 1 year to get going but it's going to be awesome coupled with discovery green and the surrounding developments...
Another hotel will bring tons more activity to the HP. Anyone who does not have a car and walk around!
Go Houston.

Jax's shot puts into perspective the relatively minimal impact DT has on Houston's skyline.
Dude, really?

I'm sure the shopping center will cease to exist in the next 5-10 years, so no biggie there. And I think the entrance in the allexy/driveway is fine. Paris is made up of alleys and I remember the entrance to my hotel being just up the alley.
For such a new shopping center, it's sad if that were true, but I would welcome a better use of that land at such a prime location.
It has great potential to pull sidewalk traffic from Macy's
As it stands, there is not motivation for people to cross the intersection, and then walk across a strip center style parking lot.
Let hope, if they do, we can so retail near the street in the next redesign.

Did anyone know this was being built? I searched and could not find anything on it. Sure it's not headline news, but it's 15 stories and they made it pedestrian friendly.
Not sure how much discussion this will get since it's finished, but thought I'd post a notice anyway.
C2N said it best, it's been finished for a while, and both hotels are back to back.
Not the best "pedestrian friendly" design, but better than most suburban designs.
The shopping center next to it screws up that potential, and the front entrance is just a driveway/alley, rather than a street.

Still better looking than an Xbox. Those things have always been ugly to me. Too bad it's the only platform I've seen a Hello Kitty game on, so it's the only one the wife would allow in the house.
Then should might love to attach this Giz version of the Hello iPhone Kitty on her wallpaper.
Also a $50/$100 price drop this weekend on the Pro/Elite models this weekend, and Target is throwing in an extra controll with the Pro.
So as it stands, Xbox 360 with be $199, $249, and $299, with the middle model being phased out.

Ya know, 99% of the waterwall photos out there all seem to be head-on and from the exact same spot (some of mine included).
Just adding a little perspective and getting a little more in the background really adds a lot, i think.
Nice work.
Too funny, you are absolutely right. Heck, that's what I try to accomplish too, head-on shots.

What? Change my Username? Just ask Editor! He'll do it for you.
I am happy with mine, I was just unaware we were able to do that.
-
I know, im not talking about you. I'm talking about other people here. Im not going to say names 'cause its pretty obvious.
How the heck did you do that?

I am predicting a $100 price drop, as they have been gettin their arses handed to them by the competition.
A few months late, but it happened predictably today.

There is simply not enough Erik Barajas love on this thread.
He's like a clean, non-greasy, non-prostitute-dating version of Christiano Ronaldo. Rowr!!!
Stupid question, might get a stupid answer. Is he the son of Mike?
Update, a quick Google.

Not about the project Blvd Place.
Wow, it's finally happening!
610 & San Felipe is being reconstructed and repaved! When it's finished, it's going to be so awesome.
I heard on the morning radio that east? bound lane of San Felipe @ 610 will be closed until August 24th.
Yup, Uptown District sent out a flyer.

Oh Yes - Houston in the 80's
1. Oil bust 1982-1986
2. Unemployment of 9.3% in 1983
3. Dozens of Banks and S&Ls go bust
4. Shamrock Hotel torn down
5. Nolan Ryan traded to the Rangers
6. Much of Market Square destroyed
7. The Katy Prairie begins to be destroyed
8. Houston Gamblers formed (what a joke)
9. Sheila Jackson Lee first elected to office
10. West U tear down phase begins
Someone needs their diaper changed?

It might be old news, or a surprise to some people. But Paula Abdul, an unnecessary or important part of American Idol, depending on how one views her, is gone from the show.
Her Twitter.
So we are stuck with Kara, who is just as useless, but not as charming.

most likely it's the mediocre food.
That title belong's to Chuy's if I recall correctly.

Saw this on the Visit Houston Facebook page: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/moms/6551657.html
If it ends up being anything like the African exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo, then it will be awesome. The plan sounds very similar.
I might have not been to the see in forever to not know that the chimpanzees were gone.

"A condo bldg at 50% occupancy with half of those a bad debt bubble"
OPP is not a condo bldg.
Okay okay, it's a high-rise apartment, but really it's no different than a high-rise condo.
Potato, PoTATo.

??? Nobody is talking about a condo building here... whatever the occupancy level. We're talking here about an office building. 100% occupied, at that.
I think it was in reference to Discovery Tower's nearest neighbor, One Park Place.
