  1. Would you mind giving a tutorial in how you post pics (what website do you use) I still can't figure out how to get anything but a teeeeny pic on here...
  2. I'm probably at fault on occasion. It is very easy to type so quickly you don't realize your grammatical errors. I wonder.... when I was learning my grammer, computers and typing weren't the norm, they were still 10 years off from being common. Will today's children type grammatically correct in 20 years more often than we do now?
  3. I don't think it is a scam. I'm no wholesale expert, so I might be oversimplifying, but, I think these are just hedging decisions made by management. Back in Nov, when you didn't know WHAT the market would do...they could choose to ride it out and hope gas falls, or go ahead and lock in a position. If a company hedged before February, it isn't pretty. But, if a company had hedged for a couple of years last summer (before hurricanes) then everyone would've been happy. Hindsight is 20/20. Interesting like what products can be offered and to whom. Now, again, I don't know a whole bunch about the mass market side of the business, but up until this year, Reliant couldn't offer products in territory other than PTB. Now they can, but it is still restricted I think. TXU has the same issue. Once all the rules that were enforced to encourage competition are expired, I THINK TXU, Reliant and all of the other Incumbents will step up their game and make it more interesting. I just wish Reliant would go ahead and fire "Tom". That guy drives me NUTS!!!
  4. I work right next to Foley's and I can tell you that not a day goes by where I don't see lots and lots of Foley bags...I think more retail would work if there were more of a selection...people wouldn't have to hurry home to find a gift, they could do it at lunch or in the evenings to avoid rush hour. Just my opinion though, I've no facts...
  5. I'm not saying there aren't margins on the prices we get charged...there are. But it isn't 100% of the story. Those high NG prices we saw last year are still beating the industry up. Just because gas is not through the roof now (still 2-3xs as high as when the market deregulated) doesn't mean that gas wasn't hedged at those high prices, meaning the current lower market doesn't mean bubcas to their ability to lower prices. Depending on what product from which company you decide to use will depend on when you see that relief. As far as I know, no company is offering a product which indexes you to the current NG price. So when you sign up for a campaign, you are essentially locking in the rate for a predetermined term. As for whether dereg works or not...I think it is still to be seen. I think we need to get rid of the PTB and some of the holdover rules from dereg (2007 I think all that starts) and I think you will see it get more interesting.
  6. Anytime you are downtown and need a hit, give me a shout... I keep a stash By the way, in case you don't know... ITS OPEN!
  7. No, but great thread, I've been wondering the same... It has to be something that can take dry spells, but can also take flooding spells...I do see some homes with their ditch planted, and I like the look of it. I've also wondered at simply covering the ditch, or putting in a standpipe and covering it. I'm sure permits are needed, right?
  8. it goes both ways, sir. the only reason I PM'd you before was that the thread was closed before I could reply to your comments.
  9. Actually Reliant would be THRILLED if you got off PTB...if you currently use Reliant and have never asked for a change since dereg, you are paying the most. (I HATE how our commercials do not make that clear) Reliant now offers several products for customers on PTB (Price To Beat, the rate that everyone defaulted to after deregulation), you can get a 5% discount, or as much as a 7% discount with a contract. If you call Reliant, ask them about the details (campaign code 208524), there is no obligation, but a GUARENTEED savings if you get off PTB. With that said, you will have a guarenteed savings if you switch away as well. www.powertochoose.org. Best tool you can use for your budget. The WORST think you can do for yourself is stay on PTB.
  10. wow. you are just your very own fact checker aren't you? There are some hard truths on both sides of the immigration coin I think. This weekend, as I was melting and warping in the heat while trying to do my very own landscaping, I had to stop (to rest) and think (to figure out a way out of this) about just how much work immigrants really do for us. Several neighbors were dumbfounded that I didn't just go "down to the tracks" and hire some men to do it for me. There would have been many men willing to do the back breaking hot work for 20 bucks, just so they could feed their families, then again, for some, their families are home in Mexico, but then again, they EARNED their money to spend how they see fit, then again, are there legal Americans that would be willing to do it for $30, then again, many would rather collect government checks then work, then again, they might not be getting the chance because they are being pushed out of the market, then again... I agree, we have some things to figure out, but we are what we have made ourselves, and we can't just wipe the slate and start with a certain set of people and tell everyone else they can't play.
  11. that must have been a fun game to watch with that view!!!
  12. I wish I saw that! Yeah, that house is somewhere in the Dunlavy, Westheimer, Montrose, Alabama square. I don't remember exactly where, but I do remember passing it by lots when I lived down there.
  13. If I'm reading the map right...isn't State Highway 19 also defunct?
  14. I think we've seen it (at least in the metro area). I was looking forward to a day off of work but at least people wont have their homes ruined...
  15. Thunderbolts and Lightning? Very Very Frightening...for meeee, for Meeee, for MEEEEEEE. dang it, now that song is going to be stuck in my head for hours!
  16. White Oak Bayou at Montrose was flooded this morning at 10...almost up to that red sculpture! 31 feet per the city...I wish I had my camera with me!!!
  17. I just don't get how all of these CVSs can be profitable. There are SO MANY of them, and they always seem to be void of customers...how is it that the Heights can't get a grocery store, but midtown can get two pharmacies??? Any one with the right type of business experience to explain it? Should we just start now prophesying what will go into all these boxes when they go bankrupt? (yes trophy, strip club, we know )
  18. The way I look at it is that God created the UNIVERSE right (not just the Earth)? Well, I'm fairly certain that the entire universe is not bound to our 24/365 rotation...so, what is a day? Genesis doesn't say how God created, just that he did. Now, if God chose to create the universe with a "Big Bang"...
  19. The ad thing actually makes me mad. There are a lot of people in this world who do not want to see bodies. Placing it in an exhibit hall where you can choose to go look is one thing...placing it on banner and flyers and distributing them in public places where you may see something you don't intend to is something else.
  20. A group of us went on Tuesday night (the inventor was giving a talk) and it wasn't bad at all. We went at 7:45 and there were people, but not a lot, and not very many kids. I'd say a weeknight is your best bet. I thought it was interesting, it doesn't really look as creepy as I thought it would. You kind of get into this surreal head space and it seems you are looking at really neat plastic reconstruction. I'm glad I went, but I don't really want to go back. Trophey, ANOTHER booby post? You need to get out this weekend!
  21. People stuck to the major roads because, if you remember, there was no gas! If you ran out of gas in the middle of tim-buck-too and a cat5 came barreling in...you wouldn't be a happy camper. That was my main concern, I figured that if it did come in and people were stranded, someone was bound to come pick everyone up and take them to a safe house. Yes, I'd leave again if they told me to. Yes, people freaked because of Katrina, but this was a cat5 that looked like it might come straight for us. I am now worried that if it happens again, not enough people will realize the seriousness of it and people will get hurt or worse.
  22. is that the little square above the D on the main street side? I just walked past (that place stinks almost as bad on the outside as the inside!! WHO eats that chicken???) the ornamental concrete is indeed back there...I wonder what shape it is in...
  23. shhhhh.....its a secret, so don't tell anyone i told you.... on foundren between richmond and westheimer (I can never remember exactly where between those two streets)
