  1. They've since been removed all the plan drawings, but here's the Manhattan Construction link... username: mcg\houston password: houston https://planroom.manhattanconstruction.com/SiteDirectory/Manhattan_Houston/Jobs%20Bidding/Forms/Default%20View.aspx?RootFolder=%2fSiteDirectory%2fManhattan%5fHouston%2fJobs%20Bidding%2fHouston%20Dynamo%20Stadium&FolderCTID=0x0120007CC36E994D0E694EAB4EB97A00166254
  2. Considering what most MLS venues look like, I'd say the Dynamo are getting an architectural statement. Pizza Hut Park - Dallas BMO Field - Toronto PPL Park (just opened last year) - Philadelphia New Dynamo Digs....
  3. Architectural drawings were found on Manhattan Construction's work page for Dynamo Park.
  4. How about we think bigger, so it has a larger impact to justify making it an interstate. How about expanding Interstate 27 south of Lubbock into Austin (where it would connect to 290) via US 84 and US 183. Then expand I-27 north of Amarillo into Denver via 287. The new Interstate would connect the Rocky Mountain region (and using I-90, the Pacific Northwest) with the Port of Houston and the Gulf of Mexico. How about that? As for I-69, Im all for it ...resign now!
  5. In regards to EaDo Promenade, Canetti briefly mentioned he is part of a committee pushing to get this project built. Never knew that ...but I guess it helps.
  6. NEWS: Dynamo CO Chris Canetti was just on radio with Glenn Davis, stated following: A. Stadium target date opening April 5, 2012 B. Dynamo like play first 2 weeks on road, the open stadium C. 34 suites, all located a mere 8 rows from field. (As I alluded to earlier, in rendering, suites are sandwiched in between upper & lower decks. This design likely makes lower bowl sideline seats the club seating section. Think Toyota Center) D. TRIZ documents, which has already been agreed upon, have to be signed by city & county. Formal agreements should be done by Wednesday afternoon.
  7. Given the fact that the Dynamo are printing flyers and Metro is rerouting bus lines in the area of the stadium, I'd say there is a chance someone knows that the TRIZ will be approved...
  8. It may be time to move this to the "Going Up" forum! According to sources on BigSoccer that are close to the team's Front Office, ground breaking will take place on Saturday, January 29th. Then there's this from Metro to add fuel to the fire... And here's fresh Stadium Renderings of what is likely the final renders, which shows a covered supporters side on the south end, sideline suites in the middle of the full 360° bowl (zoom in close, you'll see the boxes), the scoreboard on the north end, and the elimination of the tower lights on the corners that we've seen in previous renders. Lighting will now likely be tucked under the sideline canopies... Enjoy!
  9. I suggested this awhile back on the Post Office thread ....felt the idea bares reiterating on this thread.
  10. On what station did you hear this? At this point in the game, I'm thinking construction could actually kickoff even sooner than that....
  11. ANSWER: It will be further back near the other highrises The site is the Northeast corner of Greenspoint Mall on the site of what was JC Penney by the intersection of Greenspoint Dr and Greens Rd. JC Penney is currently being demolished to make way for the building and a movie theater in between the mall and the office building.
  12. Pitching this idea to see what opinions it will generate ...here goes. What if Metro were to build their grand lil Intermodal Station on the Post Office site? Give the sites location, this might kick-start the commuter and light rail service to Katy and Cypress via the railroad tracks near Washington which end at the Post Office site. Amtrak is next door and they could probably be convinced into joining as well. And the Southeast Brown line could be extended from its end at Capitol & Louisiana to turn and head due north on Bagby to the Intermodal Station. And since the site is sandwiched in between two HOV ramps on either side, P&R Express busses headed North and West of the city could easily make a stop here as well. Add Greyhound and local bus service, as well as area cabs parked curb-side and this could be a serviceable Intermodal Station for the city ....located DOWNTOWN. Best of all, if the Post Office still wants a new facility, they could build it on the site of Hardy Yards ...land swap with Metro. Thoughts?
  13. Cavatore's in the Heights ....great Italian food with a great pianist, Michelangelo! Absolutely surprised no one has mentioned this place...
  14. I'm not so certain. A few reports have IAH as being the largest hub for what will now be the world's largest airline. United has long wanted a piece of the Latin American pie. Now they have the Latin American gateway in their control. Our airport will soon become a busy mess.... which I'm not looking forward to.
  15. Considering how much the design concept has evolved over the past few months to what we have now, I doubt the design changes too much from here. I think the most recent renderings are a good idea of what we will likely see at the site. I'd say the renderings are likely unveiled during All-Star Week. It would be a no-brainer since it would focus more attention on the stadium and be good pub for both the city and the league. EDIT: Oliver Luck did say in a recent Chronic article that Populous Architects would be attending a Dynamo Game sometime in May. BTW - I WANT PALM TREES. Nuff Said.
  16. Curious to know but, where is the dup thread? Didnt see it here and this project looks completely different then the originally proposed "Americas Center" twin-tower development.
  17. Dynamo Stadium is apparently already generating development in the East End. Found this... anyone got any info? http://www.eadohouston.com/downloads/2010%20Design%20Plan%20for%20EaDo%20Promenade.pdf
  18. Dynamo Stadium is already generating development in EaDo http://www.eadohouston.com/downloads/2010%20Design%20Plan%20for%20EaDo%20Promenade.pdf
  19. IIRC, this project has been in planning since 2002, possibly even before that. Those renderings are from the original concept but considering how the economy has changed since, I'd say its a safe bet there will be a different, much less elaborate design once they can finally find a way to fund this thing.
  20. Just thought about this.... Because of its orientation, MainPlace should have a huge impact on the skyline view inside Minute Maid Park, especially with the sky garden facing the ballpark and being lighted at night. Too bad no one will see it though since the Astros will probably stink this season...
  21. A rendering Ive never seen before....With a FULL ROOF and a Downtown view. Someone please send this over to the folks at BIGSOCCER as Im cant seem to access the forum from my iPhone. This stadium needs to be built Downtown. Time to rally the troops once more....
  22. Per the HBJ, construction is supposed to start this month. And they've provided us with a few details of the redesign as well..... Linkage
  23. Hate to BUMP and old thread but, I figured it was better to put it in here, then anywhere else Today as I was talking my usual lunch hour stroll through Downtown, I noticed the old State Bank building at 420 Main (NOT the Byrd Building) is under construction/renovation. Scaffolding now surrounds the entire building on both Main and Preston sides. Carol Kenny, whom handles leasing didint give any details as to what's going on. But I do know they have been trying (unsuccessfully) to lease the space for a while now. Anyone know whats going on?!?
  24. Xtreme Pita is the place open there now. Chicken ETC is coming soon....the have a few more spots built out, just vacant. But when this food court is completed and full, there will be alot of lunch traffic with it being sandwiched inbetween Mid Center Food Court and the othe food court that Prince's is in. And the you have Reliant Energy Plaza next door to that....soon, that are will be mad-busy come lunch time.
