  1. Anybody know they will be there at 6 or earlier that wants to be the designated party leader?  Your primary role would be to describe your attire so that you can be used as a beacon for all people arriving after that time.

  2. I'll be there. Seriously though, who do I look for since I've never met any of you? I don't want to go around the place walking up to random groups of people asking them if they're my internet friends. I've never been to this place, so is there a certain spot/table you all will be hanging out at?

I think on the first page it was said to meet upstairs.  When you're up there, yell "thunder" and HAIFers will respond back with "flash".  Drinking begins after that.

  3. Hmmm...I wonder if this was the 38 story residential building my friend alluded to.

lockmat: But this one is 23 acres, that's huge! How could that fit downtown? How many blocks would that be?

Maybe it was an error and is supposed to be 2.3 acres? That's pushing it too though because a downtown block is about two acres.

  4. Does anyone know how the building/garage will be set up on the lot? What direction the building/garage will face, etc? I didn't see any answers to my own questions with an earlier post.

I don't know that anyone has seen the renderings but I'm assuming the building will run parallel to Main street with the garage going on the south side of the lot.  This is based on the way they have the crane and drilling up to this point.

  5. Hopefully it's a another tower. The interfin tower is suppose to be 40 stories & I wouldn't consider its location downtown.

Correct but considering my friend, downtown could be an area with tall buildings.  They were specific with SkyHouse being downtown though so I'm thinking they meant actual downtown.  I also had the thought cross my mind that they could have meant they were taking over One Park Place but they confirmed that it was a building not yet built.  Couldn't get any more info out after that :(

  6. I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday who works for a company that does project management, financing, owner representation, etc. for many residential and hotel properties around the country.  They said that they just signed contracts to assist with the SkyHouse as well as another 38 story residential building downtown.  I don't know if they meant the Interfin tower or if there is actually a plan for a tall residential building downtown.

Anyone in the know that can confirm/deny this?  Swtsig???

  7. A couple of pictures I snapped on my way out yesterday.

This first one is where my most anticipated retailer - Beer World - is going to be.

This second one is the new plaza with an amphitheater that is nearing completion.  There is field turf in the center like you see at City Centre or the other plaza already in place at La Centerra.  This chunk of turf is considerably larger than the one for phase one

  8. Probably height increases of the crane as the building goes up. Those cranes can assemble themselves. See video

I couldnt see the extra crane components on the webcam, but if there are several... that would be my guess as to their purpose. .

Your guess is correct.  The extra crane sections went in at about 5:00 this morning.

  9. They quoted none other than swtsig on downtown's happenin' restaurant scene

It also gives a nice summary of what is going in and what has been accomplished

That was a good read, thanks for sharing.  Nice to see everything put into one presentation.  Lots of positives to take from that, have there been any recent plans or releases for the next phase of Buffalo Bayou? I'd really like to see those.

  10. Dress up as your favorite Star Wars character.

So how will I identify you haifers when the time comes? Will we have a secret handshake? Or wear name tags with our user names?

I say we keep it architecture related...http://s7.photobucket.com/user/brijonmang/media/01scapspan_zpsfd11f630.jpg.html'>01scapspan_zpsfd11f630.jpg

I like the idea of doing something along the trails...I mean I'll be driving in from the burbs regardless so if one of you centrally located guys wants to be the guy to pick a starting place, by all means name a good one.  I'd like to check out a new one or at least something I haven't gotten to yet.

  11. I know you are a Tech fan, but if you can stand it, take a drive up to A&M. They have an entire campus of Soviet bloc architecture up there, including a football stadium.

Oh trust me, I know.  Seen it with my own eyes.  I just didn't want to start some "my school/your school" crud on a thread incredible enough to showcase the pinnacle of Houston post World War II architecture.

  12. Honestly not trying to be rude to anyone but I'm not quite sure why the same Houston Chronicle article I posted on just the next page over is being posted again.

Anyway, 30 to 60 days? Try now!

    Crews are gutting the building.

I hope the new design incorporates the existing barbed wire.  I really enjoy that Eastern Europe/Cold War era brutalist look.  Not enough of it here in town IMO.

  13.

Wow that is almost an exact replica of the 10 Waterway building set to go up in the Woodlands.

Edited to attach photo: Lockmat originally posted this in the 10 Waterway thread. http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=3375

  14. I'd be driving in from the Cinco area after work so I'm game for whatever.  Like I said, I'm a noob for this so I don't know how these usually go down.  An area that offered multiple options would be good though and I like both suggestions you put up.

Anyone else out there interested??? Bueller....
