  1. I'm not familiar enough with the site to know.

    Found the link: http://www.houstontx.gov/planning/DevelopRegs/docs_pdfs/drcreport.xls

    see row 48

Cool, lots of information in there.  I didn't see anything to specify though so I guess it's for the whole block at this point (based on the plat by Jones and Carter).

I have a lot of contacts at JC but unfortunately they are on the single family residential side...that said, I will still try to do some digging to find out what I can on this.

  2. Couldn't locate a thread for some projects going up in my area, so here goes.

    2. Tanglewood Court on San Felipe by Fountain View. It's a pretty big lot, I wonder if they'll keep those HUGE crepe murdles?

Thanks to anyone who has info.

Crape myrtles  :)  Sorry, my profession wouldn't let me NOT say anything about that...also you called me out on the Texaco building in the skyline thread.  Deal with it.

  3. Well done Channel2...I was going to do something similar but it looks like you covered it for me.

Here is a before and after shot using one of the photos cloud713 provided.

The perspectives don't exactly line up correctly and I had to try and compensate despite buildings being flipped around but hopefully this gives another idea to the possibility for the future.

  4. I was reading a blog post about downtown developments and had come across this part of the post.

Will someone shed light on this?

The Texas Leftist is a blog that is actually operated by one of the members of this forum.  I think he is talking about the Hines after it was announced that it would be taller than 50 stories with the crown but I think Chevron and 609 Main will be just about even when you consider the base of the Chevron tower.  This doesn't have anything to do with the rumors going around about the 102 story tower.

  5. I agree with TowerSpotter, it looks great. I'm awful with photoshop so I'm not dogging you in the least. I just love how rough the original actual image was to begin with.

Don't worry I was just giving you a hard time.

I'm having trouble finding a quality up to date picture of downtown from the N/NE so if anyone has one out there I'd be happy to do another version if you can provide a good base picture.

  6. Haha, the idea was just to see how the skyline would look with the proposed buildings. You did great.

Thanks, I was thinking it might be worth doing something from the north where you could basically see all of these minus the Chevron building.

  7. I love how awful the original quality of this picture is before the photoshopped additions. As grainy as all the existing buildings are, the whole thing looks like it is photoshopped together haha

If I use another picture and start over will you forgive me??

  8. From TXDOT

Another way of describing this is to do a “tax gap” analysis, which shows how much the state fuel tax would have to be on that given corridor for the ratio for revenues to match costs. Applying this methodology, revealed that no road pays for itself in gas taxes and fees. For example, in Houston, the 15 miles of SH 99 from I-10 to US 290 will cost $1 billion to build and maintain over its lifetime, while only generating $162 million in gas taxes. That gives a tax gap ratio of .16, which means that the real gas tax rate people would need to pay on this segment of road to completely pay for it would be $2.22 per gallon.

Do you not see that as a bad example?  That stretch of road will be a tollway.  It will pay for itself.

  9. Nope, just two. Back when the original HAIF was around I lied and told everyone I worked for EDI, when I was only 13 or so.... Just thought I'd be honest, now that I'm somewhat an adult. I also lied to Dalparadise about owning a Townhome on Blossom (It was my dad's). I think we argued about it for an entire page on a topic.

Anyways I said there were originally four planned, which I based that off of an article I had read about possibly doing more projects in the area.

    Can you all forgive me?

    No

  10. It's been a couple of weeks so I figured I'd add a new picture from the webcam:

They are putting the forms in place for the 5th floor.  You can see how they operate so fast now.  When it is time to move up a floor, they simply pull the forms out from the floor below it and move it up one level.  They pour 1/3 of a floor plate at a time, and then following day come back to pour the columns of the area where they just poured the floor.
