  1. Prediction: we will have rain on November 30, the day after the Texas Renaissance Festival ends and I don't have to work 12-hour days outside in black velvet.
  2. I left my Post Oak building at 4:30 and drove right through the intersection as per usual. Saw four protestors, who looked to be no more Iranian than I am. As demonstrations go, the May Day one from a few years back was better.
  3. AFAIK, Joyland is having trouble with the soil Greezy is supposed to sit on. That's why it has yet to be reinstalled. Dammit.
  4. I grew up in Missouri City, so perhaps I'm a bit biased ... but Stafford is the trashy part of the Fort Bend region. Very trashy, like busted armchairs on the front porch and tireless cars on blocks in the yard. Missouri City (the Quail Valley subdivision) or Sugar Land (Sugar Creek and First Colony) would be far better choices.
  5. Ah, sweet "progress." Not. I lived in Stuart Zidell's apartments on Briarglen and Bancroft for several years. I loved the Mid Lane area. It was hip without being Montrosely self-conscious.
  6. I can't find it on HAR anymore ... how much is being asked for it?
  7. For late-night goodness, nothing beats Jack in the Box tacos. If you have time to go in and sit, James Coney Island's chili cheese dogs are fabulous. It's hard to eat those while driving.
  8. Dayum. Now THIS is a perfect apartment for me! Wonder if the eccentric Mr. Cohen would take a shine to me.
  9. Y'all are making me want to put up a Tourettes post to see what the filter changes everything to.
  10. There is that. I hadn't considered the removal factor. Okay, then, Austin, because socialites are marginally less obnoxious than self-righteous granola-heads.
  11. I'll be damned. I thought Wastebury was always a hood-rat school, what with the gangstas and the chained doors and such.
  12. Neither. Austin is full of hippies and Dallas is full of socialite posers, and we don't want their suckiness to get here any faster than it has to.
  13. I'm frankly surprised that this thread has gone to 37 pages, considering soccer is for Eurotrash, Latino men who are far less macho than they think, and gay guys.
  14. Yeah, and we've never heard THIS before.
  15. So I'm heading into H-town on 288 this morning, and I see that sign, and I think, "It's six-freakin-fifteen in the morning and STILL DARK out here. How on earth could I possibly be of service in this situation?"
  16. In my neighborhood, which has PERFECTLY GOOD sidewalks, people - mostly of the geezer variety - walk in the street.
  17. Yeah, it's in my garage behind an old chaise longue that needs reupholstering. Just kidding ... WANT WANT WANT. That is cool!
  18. Growing up in Quail Valley in the '70s, we were culturally deprived. Gulfgate was the closest movie theater to our house - my best guess is that it was 15 miles away.
  19. For comparison purposes, the Texas Renaissance Festival grounds (the part open to patrons) is just over 50 acres.
  20. Since no way to modify original post that I can discover ... Price range: as cheap as possible. One bedroom is all that's strictly needed, but a den or study or second bedroom would also be good. Term: six months, since I'll be moving ASAP after that. Lifestyle: yeah, I forgot to mention I'm 40 and don't party outside the house much. Important factor: security. Good gates or a security guard are a must.
  21. Move date probably mid-February, and I work in the Galleria. Currently, I'm looking in the Spring Branch area - inside the Beltway and north of I-10. Would like to stay in the west half of town. Advice, opinions, ideas?
