  1. RedScare, I think Bush is probably the most talented and essential dude they can draft. You seem to think otherwise. What and who do you have in mind?
  2. Dude, wussup wit week 9?!!! Week 13) Texans @ St. Petersburg Retirement Home Week 14) Lakewood Church @ Texans Week 15) Texans @ Survivor Guatamala Week 16) Huntsville State Penetentary Cell Bk#187 @ Texans Week 17) Jerry's Kids @ Texans Week 18) 2004 Super Bowl Halftime performance roster @ Texans Predicted record with same coaching staff: 6-11 Seriously, I don't really care who coaches the team next year. All I want is Reggie Bush. Bush is the ONLY reason why this past season could have any good come out of it. Can you imagine if after the god-awful year we had so far, we still end up with the 4th pick in the draft?!
  3. I am kinda tired of the "Houston has to become urban to become a city" arguement as well. That being said, I think if anyplace in Houston outside of Downtown needs to make a pedestrian environment the bigger priority than any other, it'd be the Galleria-area. Uptown is such a great place, but I can see it profiting much higher once people feel comfortable about walking from one store inside the Galleria to a shop outside the Galleria. I think both businesses would profit much more. I agree with da Houstonian in Iraq as well. I think underground parking-only in the Galleria area would be badass, and a huge plus to the retail scene. Question is which business would be willing to invest in that, or where would funding for that come from. But he's right.
  4. RedScare is 100% right, but I'm curious as to what the mindset is of the stores across the street from the Galleria. Who exactly is their target, and how can those businesses survive long term, if things don't change (pedestrian friendly)?
  5. I hope Minute Maid turns out to become another Wrigleyville in the near future, but with our team ending up with the World Series pennant like the team from U.S. Cellular.
  6. I saw this same story on MSNBC. That's hot news, yo. Can't wait to see the concept of the hotel.
  7. I agree very much with this. I REALLY would like to see the Galleria remodel the exterior as well. Good point Bloomingdales would be nice (wishful thinking here.) But if I had my way, I'd expand and attach the Dillards department store building to the mall across the street, and make, like a MAD retail, another department store area, and food court in the current parking lot area of Dillards. That is, of course, after Lord & Taylor and Macys were filled to capacity.
  8. Of course. But the Cubs would deserve the extra appreciation. They would no longer be laughed at. I'm curious what the Astros will do this off-season. I hope Roger comes back, but more than anything I hope our newer talents become stars. we could be unstoppable for years to come
  9. I hate parallel parking. I LOVE the palm tree idea. And I love this project for Rice Village. Does anyone know when it's due to be complete?
  10. That sounds like good news. I'm glad the Lord & Taylor project is progressing. Not only do I hope Macy's goes through with the apartment idea at the former Macy's, but I also hope that in that area of the mall at least that there s a few 24-hour retail in there (newsstands, a small food court or something). I'm also hoping for a movie theatre in that area too. But at the same time, I'm rooting for a Galleria 6 to come up.
  11. There is no secret that Sugarland is trying everything in their power to become a city more known than Woodlands or Katy. I won't be surprised if a riverwalk with boat rides would become one of Sugarland's next project. Yo, is the Sugarland Town Center right beside First Colony Mall, and if not, exactly how far apart are they?
  12. Just to clarify, where would parking be for the convention center once this park is underway? Is there a parking garage there? (stupid question )
  13. If Midtown keeps developing the rate that it is, it may very well end up in the next 20 years looking like one huge architectual dynasty, similar to a New York or Chicago from afar. But I think it all depends on the Midtown area.
  14. I do feel like some of the city leaders feel this way sometimes. This light bulb thing is stupid, and it does very little to show off these buildings. (Better than nothing, I guess ) I want it vegas-style like before. (AT LEAST during big world events for our city.)
  15. not that expensive for a city like us. I think if the city officials or some of us didn't care about Houston's image, we would have never pursued a Super Bowl, Olympics, or built all these convention centers and hotels. Besides, as a Houstonian, I think Houston looks good, but it can look SOOOOOOOO much better. We need to show off our architecture. It really IS something Houston can be proud of, and we need to showcase what we got.
  16. I'm saying that five Octobers ago, we lit up downtown with the Power of Houston so nobody but us could see it. Now we got the World Series here, and the World gets to see Downtown in black? It needs to be lit up Power of Houston-style NOW!!!
  17. Yes, Parrothead. I was thinking of the exact same song once we walked that dude with the bases loaded
  18. OYE I'm looking at Houston's skyline during Game 3, and I'm thinking of how quiet our city looked in the background. Why do we have to have casinos on a strip to have our lighting downtown shine like Las Vegas's Strip? We're trying to showcase a vibrant downtown, not try to be like any other quiet town.
  19. WTF!!!! Big & Rich is singing the National Anthem in Houston?!!!! I hope Paul Wall commits a drive-by! What does Big & Rich have to do with Houston, anyway? William Hung has more respect for the job than Big & Rich! And I would LOVE to see Janet sing the anthem for us! Seriously! " ...And the LAND of the FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE..... (insert nipple slip here) " Oh, and here's a couple songs for da Astros Jukebox on da White Sox: Ying Yang Twins "Wait" AC/DC " TNT" David Bowie "Fame" Afroman "Because I got High" Green Day "Brain Stew" Twisted Sister "I wanna Rock" (what's up with HAIF and Twisted Sister? ) Lil Keke "SouthSide" and my personal favorite, 30 foot fall "F*ck y'all, We're from Texas"
  20. Honestly, with the current hurricane vunerabilities of Galveston, I think it's a bad idea. La Marque, or a suburb directly betwenn Houston sounds like the best idea to me for Galveston's sake, because I think it'd be a big economic opportunity for Galveston and that suburb. A theme part IN Sugarland, Katy, or Woodlands would fail if Houstonians don't go to the park. But whatever you do, make it big. THREE times bigger than Astroworld. If it's small, I know I won't go.
  21. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/3384341 I love the tradition of watching OU vs. UT at the Cotton Bowl, but that may change soon. Dallas may even renovate the Cotton Bowl Stadium so both schools would battle there longer. What do you think?
