  1. R U sure Treasures has 52,000 people going there a night? Also, soccer's the greatest sport on Earth, and the world knows it...
  2. He was the oldest living president if I'm correct. Is the oldest now Bush Sr.?
  3. We hosted in '94, and every game was in a football stadium.
  4. I say draft the highest DE or OL in the first round again. With all the standout QBs more than likely being the first 3 or 4 drafted, and quite a few WR available, I think the Texans will be left with the highest DEs in the draft. If there's a standout WR available, yeah, get'em. I'm not sure if that guy will be available though. We'll probably be #8, possibly double-digits in the draft depending on if we beat the Browns and how other teams fare this last weekend. The Texans are going to need a LOT of pass and rush protection next season to accomodate Carr, our current WRs, and RBs. We also need much more improvement on defense. Talent and skill seem to be there now for the Texans, but their protection needs improvement, and pass coverage looked non-existant 50% of the time. When it was there, it was impressive. That needs to be much more consistant.
  5. The Texans beat 'em for a reason. Colts were playing for a high playoff spot against a team they've never lost to, and quite frankly, they underestimated how Houston would come out. The Texans, however, were playing for their jobs. They HAD to prove they had the personel to beat a quality playoff contender. Prior to the Colts, we beat the Jags twice, the Dolphins, and the Raiders. That was it. And we supposedly drafted Williams because we wanted to be "capable" of beating Manning and the Colts. I think Indy's defense wa exposed, and they have no choice but to improve it. They know Dayne exposed their weakness. But I think Peyton and the Colts are hungrier than any other team in the playoff because everyone's already ridden them out of considering them to be able to win in the post-season, the same way people never thought the Texans would be able to beat the Colts this season. I think Manning's offense will be high-scoring, and the defense will do everything they can to keep opponents within field-goal range, but that's it. Dungy's gonna find a way to win with what he has against the AFC teams this post-season. Like I said, Indy was exposed this past week, but at least they know their weakness. Some of these other teams may not have an off-playing day until playoff time when it's too late. The Eagles are a well oiled machine, and I thought they would win the Super Bowl when I saw HOW they beat the Texans on opening day. No one on the Eagles took the Texans for granted. McNabb was healthy and the team was just loose. Now, Garcia's sitting in for McNabb, but the team is still loose and not taking anything for granted. And their DL is just ridiculous. y'all saw when the Cowboys were on the 1-2 yard line, and how the Eagles were able to collapse them for 4 straight downs? That wasn't a fluke team they beat like that; the Cowboys can play. I think the Bears are the best team in football this season, but the Eagles have the best style of play when it comes to taking nothing for granted and being a blue-collar winner. I don't know Davis' future, but the Texans have a decent group of WR. Anyone in mind you're talking about in terms of another WR we should draft?
  6. My prediction at the beginning of the year was Eagles beating the Colts in the Super Bowl, and I'm sticking to it.
  7. You said this just the post before... And That's why I thought it was a comparison. I'm curious what places you're talking about that are the norms, unique, and that never talk about how great they are. Also, I'm assuming from your name that you're a Midtown resident. I've only been there for nightlife twice since being back, and it was fair but not OMG. All the clubs there seemed to be "certain shoe, certain look" kinda clubs, and they didn't feel very vibe-ish. Either they were off-nights, or there's a redundant, try-too-hard attitude there. I'll have to go there a few more times to find out, or maybe I just need to try chillin' in the bars and cafes there more, 'cause it felt much more real there than Midtown's clubs did. But if Midtown's your reference of all of Houston, I say you should try cruising around more. -Downtown Main Street has been hoping everytime I've been there, and it didn't matter if I was chilling with millionaires or friends with a budget, there's something for everyone with every look there. Just a fun vibe all out, and it's still getting better because of all the opening developments nearby within the next 2 years. -Montrose's jazz and bar scene was great, but I didn't see anyplace there pedestrian friendly. U gotta have a car and know where to go in order to vibe right there. -I love Uptown because there's plenty of places to go where things are just real and relaxing. I love studying there and chilling after a party in that area. Bellaire SWAT and Sugarland as well. Town Center really impressed me. Nothing like that was there before I moved to Korea. I'm not saying "Houston is the best because of these areas" or bragging or anything like that. I'm just saying that in the short time I've been back, Houston looks like a different and more developed scene. Prior to me leaving, vibe in Houston meant cruising on the Richmond Strip...and that was basically it. It was an unorganized mess as a whole. Now, Houston seems really cool overall. If I didn't think so, I wouldn't say so.
  8. At one point, Carr was #1 in the QB ratings. Was that a fluke? The problem I have with the Chronicle and a lot of the critique on Carr is the fact that a lot of fans seem to reflect the Texans' winning and losing solely on Carr. It simply isn't the case. Case in point: Texans vs. Raiders. The Texans won the game, but from what I heard (I didn't see the game) it was Carr's worst game of his career. From the other games I saw this season, Carr was consistant as an individual. When the Texans had a weak side (offense or defense), they were always exploited, especially when it came to defense pass coverage. Carr's biggest problem in my opinion is the fact that he's only consistant because he's a conservative QB. He and Kubiak didn't do enough this season to take chances. Not enough confidence shown between each other. Vince Young had a great year this year because of the confident plays between Young and Fisher where neither felt pressure and everything revolved around the trust in the O-Line. Same with Brees, McNabb, and Romo. No pressure to try trick plays. Carr partially helped win over the Colts because of a burst of confidence in his play when he passed for the last touchdown that game. I haven't seen that kind of spark in him most of this season. I think if Kubiak works with Carr this season on that spark, Carr can be great for the Texans in '07. He's great at listening and following the coach's orders. If Carr's there next season and has a conservative approach again throughout next season, I really don't expect anything different from his individual results.
  9. Kinda curious. What cities are you refering to as hip and trendy that makes Houston look so bad in your opinion?
  10. I had a c.d. alarm clock while in the Army, and each morning, I'd wake up to "The Big Payback." That was also my last song when I finished spinning in Korea this past May.
  11. Carr officially gets to keep his job. They should still try to get a veteran QB or QB in the 2nd round that's starter-quality just to give Carr a run for his money next year, but whatever the Texans do, DON'T draft a QB in the 1st round 2007. Beef up the OL or DL even more.
  12. Your opinion's respected, but World Cup's far more insane than the Stanley Cup to me. I think that will depend on the egos at Toyota Center. Chuck Watson and Les Alexander haven't always seen eye-to-eye when it comes to hockey business. Both have wanted at some point to own an NHL team in Houston. Now that the Penguins aren't for sale but looking for a new home, that would mean that Alexander AND Watson would have to be comfortable with having a third professional team and second hockey team at Toyota. I can see Alexander conforming to the idea because of money he'd get from lease, but if there's nothing in it for Watson, it's hard for me to see him wanting to keep the Aeros at Toyota.
  13. It was painful to watch. Basketball aside, leg injuries ain't fun. I hope he fully recovers before he gets back on the court, and doesn't rush it.
  14. I'm curious if this Trump/O'Donnell thing will still dominate the headlines after three weeks from now.
  15. I just moved back to Houston from South Korea this past May. Prior to that, haven't lived in Houston since May 2001. I've been to 17 states, visited 3 countries, and lived in another in the past 7 years, so yeah, I've been outside Houston once or twice.... I'm just being real. I've been to quite a few clubbing districts, and we do agree on one thing: There's a difference between people being cool and people trying to be cool. Houston's definately a cool city. Most places I've seen have been a wanna-be city where they try too hard to be like another city or follow a trend. Houston, no question, is a trend-setter town as a whole, and people here have established it's own style that's unique to it's own. I'm scared to ask how you entertain yourself while living in Houston if you've never left your house at night before...
  16. Houston's by far the largest city and biggest market vying for an NHL team. The biggest negative is the fact that Houston has 5 professional teams representing it, which means that the NHL would always have local tv and ticket competition year-around, wheras in Pittsburgh, NHL is the only professional team playing there in January-April whenever the Steelers aren't in the playoffs, and even during NFL season, the Steelers play only once a week. Hartford has no professional teams Winnipeg also has no professional teams Portland has one professional team (NBA) Kansas City has three professional teams (MLB, MLS, MFL) Houston has five professional teams (NBA, WNBA, MLB, MLS, NFL) Another thing to think of is the arena... Hartford, Winnipeg, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City would probably have a new stadium bid. Portland would either have a new stadium bid strickly for the Penguins, or have them in the same arena as the Trailblazers. Houston: Toyota Center (built NHL ready) would be the home. As easy as it sounds for Toyota Center to be the new home, it also has a complication or two knowing that the minor league Aeros play there, and would have to either move to another city, fold completely, still play at Toyota, or go to a smaller arena in the Houston area TBA. Contracts will have to be modified. Also, Alexander has the exclusives on Toyota Center. What kind of deal would he give for them to have Toyota to use when NHL has the same on and off-season as the NBA, while knowing that Alexander wouldn't own the NHL team?
  17. There's another Larry King on at 11pm tonight. Will it be the Trump one? Cause if so, I'm taping it >
  18. Well, respect is a two-way street. If I were on some crack and watched a Rosie film, maybe I'd enjoy it... Look, it was a bad night at South Beach, alright?! I said Shipley, she said Krispy, and she made me ride Six Flags Magic Rosie. Trump paid me to do it. He wants me to hire RedScare as my lawyer and sue her for emotional distress...
  19. Yea, Rosie Cheeks lost her mind by dissin' the Donald for no reason. He did the right thing by the way. People calling Miss USA a role model is an overrated statement. How many people remember Miss USA's name before the drinking incident? If anything, The Donald should have punished the other 49 contestants for losing to a crackhead. They should be ashamed of themselves, yo. And Rosie just needs to focus on the good things she's been doing for people, like her and her girlfriend adopting kids and taking care of them. She could REALLY help those kids if she were able to figure out a way for her and the kids to fit inside her house at the same time though...
  20. Lakewood will never fall now if Greenway could help it:)
  21. We better start winning consistantly again before the Nuggets figure out the plays for Iverson and Anthony in mid-January.
  22. Oye Oye Oye. It either has to be one of the top 5 best theme parks in the country in terms of rides and entertainment, or it will fail miserably within 5 years in the Houston market. There's enough entertainment in Houston for people to not want to settle for half-ass like Six Flags made Astroworld...
  23. Hooters should look into being the namesake for the new Dynamo stadium.
