  1. Oops...sorry...I forgot to mention that I was there for 30 minutes each time. I even showed my receipt compared to my parking ticket and was told too bad, so sad. This garage is connected to HP via skywalk
  2. I had a first date at the Chocolate Bar on W.Alabama and it was the best first date I've ever had (we went there after dinner). The company was of course great, but we got to sample candy, laugh all all the crazy things dipped in chocolate, and then sit down and have a huge slice of cake and play a boardgame. I don't know if that's the type of thing you are going for, but it was really fun to me
  3. I've read all the pros and cons presented on this topic and all I've got to gripe about is the $9.00 parking in the designated "HP Parking Garage" directly south of that bookstore/Forever 21. I understand parking downtown and paying to park, but there are misleading signs in this garage that advertise $3.00 parking for HP customers, and it's never been honored (I've parked there 3 times and charged $9.00 each time...my bad for being an idiot 3 times) AND no parking validation! What in the crap!?
  4. I love the northside, so I hate to say this...but there are few places that are great. I agree with the post below; Baker St. is prob the best you are going to find. There is Blvd. in The Woodlands...an ok place...they have a dj and people make their own dance floor. The Woodlands Waterway has a Baker St. too, but I think the Willowbrook location is better.
  5. I loved Fajitas!! Oh gosh, I forgot it even existed! Too bad it's gone now. Wasn't there a Levi Jeans store outside of Sears? It had wood panel walls. And how could I forget Contempo - that was my fav store! I remember Maggie's too...had that toy train that would circle around the place
  6. I have the same feelings about Macy's - ick. I haven't been in Foley's (Macy's) at Greenspoint in a looooooooong time. I actually used to work at the Gap right in front of the Macy's a loooooong time ago. There was a 5-7-9, music store, Bag and Baggage, and other stores I can't remember in that wing. I also loved Coach House Gifts right next the the movie theatre and Chick-fil-a.
  7. My friend's mom used to work at Hamilton Junior High (intersection of Heights Blvd. and 20th or 19th) and always told us stories of that school being haunted, especially the auditorium. I've also always heard that Reagan High School on 13th is haunted. I've never seen this school, but the stories always related to the second or third story of the school being vacant and haunted. Anyone know if the top story of Reagan was left vacant for a long time and if so, why?
  8. As far as I know (I used to work in this building) the balconies are not usable. I've looked at them many times out of my window and always wondered what purpose they served. They are very small with a tiled floor. The only time I saw them utilized was by a window washing crew.
  9. I'm happy to report that this place survived Ike...at least for the most part! I was curious about any possible damages and made sure to catch a peek as I drove down 45 yesterday.
  10. I just read that yesterday in the waiting room at my doc's office. Marilyn Monroe is on the cover I believe. The article covered a great deal of the Shamrock's rise and fall.
  11. Those pics made me want to puke into the bowl sinks! Enough with the bowl sinks - sheesh!
  12. I think the name of that bar is Great Dane or something like that. I drove by the other day and glanced quickly.
  13. I remember Best. I also remember the Sports Town and Pharmor across the freeway. I loved Sports Town! They sold this Gatorade gum there that I would beg my mom to buy. I've never seen Gatorade gum anywhere else. Where was the water feature with chimes? I'm trying to remember, but can't.
  14. Valero on Washington and...yikes I forgot the cross street! It's right across from the old Pig Stand
  15. I know you are in Heights/Washington area, but there are a couple places open on Main St. in downtown. Both have food, beer and tv: Live Sports Bar Molly's Pub
  16. Anyone in the downtown Houston area? How is it? Still ok in Spring...heavy wind
  17. Thanks for the info. I'm in Spring and the wind is roaring
  18. What side of town are you in?
  19. I would suggest Barbeque Inn on Yale/Crosstimbers. Now that place is a blast from the past!
  20. Oh yes - I forgot about Franks! I went there for the first time this past Father's Day. That's all my dad wanted - Frank's! We had to wait in line for about 20 min, but it was worth it.
  21. These are my top 3: 1. Baby Barnabys 2. Churrascos 3. El Tiempo
  22. I LOVED Merry Go Round - I totally forgot about that place!! Lots of those stores were at the mall I went to as a kid - Greenspoint. I think there is a Bakers in Galleria IV?
  23. I totally agree about Galleria III - It's like a different world! The only reason I venture over there is for the shoe department at Macy's. I didn't start shopping at the Galleria until the late 90's, and Galleria III has looked like it does today since then. I'm sure it was more alive back in the day.
  24. Thanks for the latest zombie mall link - it's great!
