  1. I wish I had some awesome story behind Cosmic08, but I don't. I was watching a show about the planets on Discovery while I was signing up on HAIF, so that's where I got cosmic. My current pic is of my fav movie, Pretty in Pink. I'm an 80's kid.
  2. I've gotta go just for that pizza!! Brothers had another hidden location on 45N/Cypresswood in a strip. I have no idea if it's still there...was about 5 years ago. Yep, went to the movies there many many times. I think the last movie I saw there was Batman Returns. I have no idea why I'm thinking the Chick-fil-a was 2 stories - ha! I do remember it was by Montgomery Wards. I spent more time on the Foley's side too. That Gap by Foley's was like one of the last "name brand" stores to close, so I heard. I can't believe it lasted that long! I also remember Beeper Boutique - haha! I had to have every colored case they carried
  3. I used to work at Visible Changes waaaaay back in the day! Lots of the stylists have been there since it opened. There were always rumors that location would be shut down, even back in the 90's, but it's still there!
  4. I grew up going to Greenspoint Mall and have fond memories of it. When I pass the mall, I feel sad because it looks nothing like I remember - haven't even stepped foot inside in about 10 years. Anyone have any memories of the mall during better times? I fondly remember: Coach House Gifts - that store was full of stuff that you just had to touch - kinda like a tame Spencers Chick-fil-a - Wasn't it 2 stories tall? I was really young when it was open The Levi Jeans Store - I've never seen so much wood panel in a retail store! 2 Visible Changes salons - the original by Penny's and "Visible Changes Too" by the food court All the fake trees and lights that lined the walkways Brother's Pizza - I think it's actually still there. Good, greasy pizza that was larger than the plate it was served on!
  5. Can anyone tell me where Chinatown is/was? What streets make up the borders? I've never seen this place?
  6. I've seen exit signs on the freeway for Chinatown, but when I exit, I don't see anything? Where exactly is Chinatown?
  7. I think this place is awesome - old recycled items. I've seen some pretty cool glass doorknobs and other one-of-a-kind items here. http://www.historichouston.org/newSite/war...e/warehouse.htm
  8. I'm answering my own question...sort of A co-worker of mine told me that this place was built in the late 70's and that the Houston Post interviewed the owner. She couldn't remember specific details. I would always notice this place while riding in the backseat of my parent's car as a kid. I just picture a spooky guy all cooped up
  9. Ah ha! I did giggle when I read your response. I drove by this place yesterday and the ground level of the property is massively cluttered with junk. I wish a reporter from the Chronicle or some other publication would interview the owner of this place and get the scoop on the vision behind it - That would be interesting. Does anyone remember this place when it was under construction? I bet neighbors were like what in the...?
  10. I wonder what the point of the rooster on top is?
  11. Yeah, fart noises at 7:00 a.m. don't do it for me. Frosted hair - ha! I have no idea, but I'm gonna guess that yes, he does.
  12. Haha! The Creed madness DOES need to go! The Roula and Ryan show reminds me of that Jimmy Fallon morning dj skit - the "Z-105" one, where he plays 100 sound effects in a row that a 10 year old would find amusing. It's on the Best of Jimmy Fallon dvd.
  13. I'll see if I can get the address and go from there.
  14. I almost wreck everytime I drive down 45 and try to get a good look at this place and figure out what the heck it is. So interesting. Any new info on this place? I need to take a pic so everyone knows what I'm talking about. I think it has a rooster on top too? On the east side of 45 north between downtown and n. main. looks like a teeny tiny air traffic control tower
  15. Great info, rps324! I too am in the market for an older home under 200K. Love mod homes. Check out Oak Forest too. You may be able to find a home around 150K there, but it might need some TLC.
  16. The location on 45 and Tidwell. That location looks like it is on constant lock-down with the surrounding iron fence. The stray dogs wondering around don't help either.
  17. Will do - thanks!! If I make it inside a unit, I'll post pics.
  18. Awesome - THANKS! I am so curious what the inside looks like
  19. Yeesh! I think we may see a fish with 3 eyes washing up on the shore soon...
  20. WOW - Thanks Sevfiv and Sheeats !!!!! I'm pretty new to HAIF and love all of the info I've read so far!! I now have a new appreciation for historic Houston and now share all kinds of stories with my friends! Now when my boyfriend and I drive around, I make him do the driving so I can pay attention to my surroundings more. I would love to explore an apartment here and am going to see if I can...
  21. Honestly, this doesn't surprise me. The last time I went to East Beach (about 6-7 years ago), you couldn't pay me to get in the water ...looked like a pool of chocolate milk!
