  1. There is supposed to be a rooftop bar... perhaps the roof will be "celtic gardens"? Sounds pretty cool if it is
  2. Not when Camden owns half the land. BUT... Midtown owns the other half... and their job is to build parks.
  3. You're right. My buddy rides Greyhound and says the Austin station is very nice. My theory is that HPD and Greyhound do nothing about the loitering going on around it. If they moved in full force and ran off anyone hanging out w/out a bag... then things might change. Problem is people hang out even inside the station (and Greyhound's security does nothing to run them off). When I've been in there, they had homeless guys opening the front doors for people asking for money. If Greyhound won't even make an effort to run them off... there is no hope for this place.
  4. It was supposed to go to the Intermodal Terminal north of Downtown... but funding for that went away.
  5. My coworker was at a red light by the McDonald's when the gunman ran right by her shooting at HPD. She said the police were firing back so she floored it and ran the red light. It's amazing no one was hit. Yes, we need to remove this bush station asap.
  6. I've heard she has no plans to do so (apparently her church is right across the street). My guess is she'll live in it until she dies... then her relatives will sell it and the old house could become a bar like Komodos.
  7. Just discovered a new rendering and information that Post will be building out a third phase in Midtown! More info here (with rendering from their investor report): http://innerlooped.com/809/post-midtown-phase-iii/
  8. I like the look. However, if people complain that it's ugly down the road... they could always put that same metal trim along the roof line over the stone sides. That would make the entire building mesh.
  9. Mai's held their grand reopening over the weekend and I covered the event here: http://innerlooped.com/745/mais-grand-re-opening-with-a-dragon-dance/ There was an awesome dragon dance as part of the opening! The inside of the place is very nice now... but prices still seemed good.
  10. I thought these changes were related to work and expansion at the church.
  11. You are talking about Midtown Grove (in Midtown). InnerLooped continues to cover it... http://innerlooped.c...ove-is-planted/ http://innerlooped.c...-midtown-grove/ http://innerlooped.c...n-grove-update/
  12. The tattoo/barbershop and salon next to Natachee's/Sigs are now open... http://innerlooped.com/517/big-kats-meow-open/
  13. I love this development. After coming back from San Fransisco, I kept wondering why our Midtown/Downtown didn't have more garages w/ street level retail. This will provide plenty of parking for the restaurants under (and across) the street... so it will truly make it an area where you can park and walk to various bars/restaurants w/out having to hop on an airport shuttle bus to get you to the next place.
  14. Your wish is my command... http://innerlooped.com/494/scout-square-renderings-posted/
  15. Midtown was moving forward even during the downturn. Don't forget Camden Travis, Farb's apts at McGowen@Bagby, the development near Continental Club w/ Natachee's, etc. We've had some major developments while a lot of the city sat idle. Midtown will explode once the economy completely recovers. It's just too convenient of a place located between Downtown and Med Center along the rail line.
  16. Finally found one of the renderings I was talking about w/ more info on the project... http://innerlooped.com/368/pub-fiction-v2-0-coming-soon/
  17. I saw this and thought about going to the meeting. It's awesome news. I'd love to know what properties they are looking at.
  18. I already view the area as sustainable. Just wait until the economy rebounds... Midtown is going to explode. Everything that I've read says there will be ground level retail with parking above it. Based on the culture map article and list of prospective tenants... I don't see how they'd all be able to fit in the Boy Scouts building along with Landmark's planned office spaces.
  19. It was rainy and gross, but I added a couple of snapped pics of the work on InnerLooped. This is going to be huge for Midtown and can't wait to see it completed!
  20. I actually love those metal town-homes! I don't worry too much about Midtown btw. Our neighborhood already has a diverse selection of apartments (and it seems each one has to out-do the next in looks and features). Even the older apartment buildings in Midtown are nice and in good shape. My main hope for Midtown is that the middle area (east side of Main by Nouveaux) gets some condos and more retail in the next 10 years.
  21. Glad to hear this. I've been to Barcadia last weekend and last night... each time I wondered why they didn't expand into the adjoining space w/ more games. The place is really cool.
  22. Went by Midtown Grove today and added progress pictures to InnerLooped. Here's the rendering of Midtown Grove...
  23. Just got back from the Pavilions and was blown away by how much space NRG now occupies. They are not just in the tower, but are also on the ground floor and a big chunk of the second floor. You can literally walk up to their offices and be creepy by staring at employees working at their desks... or stand in at their board room. Just added pics of it on InnerLooped. The offices are really cool looking btw.
