  1. Great news that this tower has reached the 20th floor. I need to get over there and check it out, but you never know with that Katy Fwy when it is closed. I'm with Velvet & strikn on Houston's multiple skylines as being awesome. I had to come in from Baytown and took the 610 Loop North up to 59 and exited downtown and that view is most remarkable. It looks like you are seeing three different cities ... very impressive (check it out sometimes). I can't wait for BLVD Place and River Oaks District to get going as well.
  2. The Four Seasons downtown has the condo/hotel thing going. I definitely believe downtown Houston is ready for another upscale hotel/condo project. Perhaps we'll see a couple of new downtown "five-star" hotels in the next decade.
  3. Found this blurb in the HBJ. Who's got the skinny? Luxury Hotel Additional downtown optimism in the Chron. Bureau
  4. ... and more good news: Microsoft Corp. partners will be in Houston for the 2008 annual meeting/conference. There's about 7,600 of those booking 50,000 room nites. HBJ reports.
  5. Is this the one across from Hyatt? Or is there another former Sheraton downtown? Downtown Hotel
  6. Hines47HBJ Full Link This is the link to HBJ's article on Hines' new 47 story skyscraper. Hopefully this will inform to some degree, but no renderings still.
  7. I like the balconies built within the structure as well. Cosmo is really a cool building. Now, if I could afford one of those units .... nah, I'll just watch and enjoy.
  8. It appears financing to the tune of $500m for this project is happening. Financing
  9. Newsflash Not much info here; anyone have the scoop?
  10. Will this bridge have any style, lighting, etc. or just another run of the mill concrete bridge?
  11. Thanks for the pics. Didn't go this year ... now I wish I did. I loved that pic of the Hyatt nestled between the skyscrapers; but a great job.
  12. And on another thread we were discussing cranes and my concern was why they don't fall. Anyhow, Red and a few other HAIFers enlightened me about cranes. But ... whoa ... paper said it was the mud and the thing started to sink and toppled. Crane Operator positions open.
  13. Parkside looks awesome in that rendering. Hope it turns out like the picture.
  14. 2727 Kirby Here is the full story from HBJ. Interesting reading. Never underestimate the power of the wife.
  15. R O C K E T S Home court. We lead 3-2 with 2 to go.... home court..... yeah baby!!!
  16. woolie.... lots of us cannot afford these mega expensive highrises. However, it is great to live in a city where we have rich, not so rich but affluent, mid income and, unfortunately, lower income families. I will never live there, but will enjoy seeing 2727 from where I am in the city. Yeah, can you imagine the expense of a million dollar palace? I really can't, but I am blessed to have my 1800 sq ft "palace" and it belongs to me. So, let's build a 90 story highrise that we can see for miles... but not have to worry about the price.
  17. Yeah, the Ten Ten ... I loved that food court. But, of course, business must trump eating.
  18. .... but we all knew this anyhow. We're 6th best in the states. Link
  19. Exactly. There are many posters on this board who misspell words and use gramatically challenged sentences, but rarely do we not understand the post. Good post sttombiz.
  20. Downtown reminds me of the 80's. You will see lines of construction workers now in the shops and deli's. I haven't seen this much activity since the "boom" times. Add to all this a couple of new office towers and downtown is boom revisited.
  21. I am optimistic that 2727 will happen. But when some entity spends money to excavate, put up a crane etc., don't they lose that money with nothing to show. Kind of like Las Vegas most of the time?
