  1. Just b/c someone calls themselves "liberal" doesn't mean they are "to the left" on all issues. I consider myself a liberal... I am obviously pro gay rights, pro choice (i don't like abortion, but my pro individual privacy stance trumps that), anti-organized religion... if the church says something is wrong and immoral, I do it and I do it often!! At the same time, though, I side with conservatives on issues like the death penalty, affirmative action and fiscal issues. And to answer your second question... No.
  2. But the U.S. Constitution which says everyone has the right to free speech trumps the CA Constitution, so even if that happened it would be overturned quickly since states can't amend their constitution in ways that violate the U.S. Constitution.
  3. Well I don't think this will go to the U.S. Supreme Court... California's courts will overturn Prop 8 most likely.
  4. The courts in California are going to do the right thing and overturn Prop 8... just watch. Even Governor Arnold said he hopes they do.
  5. Hopefully... I don't know why they could change it. The light was blue b/c it's Continental's building... it matched their logo. Why would they change that?
  6. The judges could rule that the amendment itself that the voters voted for is unconstitutional if it violates what's currently in the California Constitution. If that does not happen this could go to the U.S. Supreme Court where it will be decided if this violates the U.S. Constitution. I am not an expert on the U.S. Constitution but I could have sworn there was something in it that guarantees equal rights to American citizens. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  7. We should care what people think of us. If people don't like us, they may not support us, and sometimes we need support just like other Nations do. Well, don't think of it has becoming HIS ally... think of it as becoming an ally of the Iranian people... most of whom do not think like their current President who is a nutcase. Sometimes you have to deal with nutcases like that in ways you may not want to in order to achieve the better good. He's a nut, but unfortunately he's the President of Iran and we may need to do more than just ignore him. Just taking a shot in the dark here, but I am guessing you are an avid watcher of Fox News. I could be wrong, but the whole "all muslims hate jews" made a light go off in my head.
  8. OMG I know... I have already thought of that! ha ha Nice... every little bit helps!
  9. I am getting sick of hearing people say... "well the people voted NO on gay marriage so that's the way it should be".... heard that on TV several times today. I really hope the courts intervene (you know, those radical liberal judges who legislate from the bench). Just b/c "the people" vote for it doesn't make it right. The CONSTITUTION says all American Citizens should have EQUAL rights, and right now gay people DO NOT. Straight people, when they get married, are given additional rights from the federal government... gay people can't get these rights. Gay people are born gay (somehow I think I was not the only gay person born gay)... so b/c of that they should not be denied equal rights. If it takes the courts to strike down something that is unconstitutional, so be it! That's one reason they are there. If the majority of Americans decided tomorrow they wanted to bring slavery back and they voted that way... do you think slavery would come back? NO, b/c it's unconstitutional... the courts would stop it! And I see now fox news (shocker) is running the story over and over of the good little old christian lady who had the cross she was carrying knocked down to the ground by those evil gays as she walked w/ it in front of their protest. NEWSFLASH... although I DO NOT CONDONE VIOLENCE, it comes as no shock to me that when people are denied equal rights, or in California's case have their rights TAKEN AWAY, THEY GET ANGRY! If you are someone that actively worked to make sure gays do not have equal rights (like say, you voted that way), you may have to deal w/ that anger. I am hoping w/ Obama now President-elect things will change for the better more quickly for gay people. I am 100% positive gay people will one day have equal rights in this Nation... that's the way history goes... it's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when". It's common knowledge that the younger generations are far more supportive of gay rights than older folks... so once the older folks die off and the younger folks take over it's going to happen. I would just like to see it happen as quickly as possible. Sorry... had to rant! YAY GAYS!! Rally for equal rights on my Birthday??? I just may do that!
  10. Why weird? At first I was like... "how can they do that w/ the warm weather"... but then I realized there's an ice rink inside the Galleria mall where it's even warmer (in the winter that is)... so obviously the technology exists.
  11. They are preparing it for the rink... they have drain it and install special pipes and stuff to make the skating rink. I believe I read that on DG's website.
