  1. Treebeards is getting a new mural. I can't tell what it's going to be yet, but it's very colorful.
  2. I guess that with the new Hines development, they'll finally tear down the old Sterling Bank building.
  3. W. Alabama is bad too. The drought really took it's toll. The road sank, but the manholes didn't.
  4. Well, it's not exactly a list, but nontheless, interesting. I did not realize that the Woodlands was Texas' #1 MaTer Planned communities.
  5. New List - Nice Find. http://downtownhouston.org/site_media/uploads/attachments/2013-02-15/2012-4Q_-_Stream.pdf
  6. You did take a picture of my place, should I feel stalked?
  7. TS Allison was in 2001. Sunnyland had moved out to Fondren at least by the early 80's. I think they may have kept the Midtown location as a warehouse, but I'm not sure.
  8. Is there a height/load limit on concrete structures? It seems that all of our newer construction uses concrete. The tall buildings built here during the '80's were constructed using steel. Isn't the cost of steel crazy right now?
  9. So did the former Fiesta on Dunlavy as well as the Container Store on Post Oak.
  10. Does anyone know what's going in at the old Texaco station across from Stewart Cadillac on Main? They've added on to the back and covered the original stone work.
  11. I wonder to where they'll relocate. They had far too much business to just shut down.
  12. I think I was mistaken. Someone's grandfather worked there as a maintenance man and had ghost stories. I know the ghost at Spaghetti Warehouse is supposed to be the wife of the pharmacist that worked there, who fell down the elevator shaft. She's still looking for him.
  13. I noticed this morning that Brown Bag Deli has relocated from the Houston Club Bldg to where Ziggy's used to be. I think they were the last tenant, so demo must be nearing.
  14. I remember reading something that it was haunted by a maintenance man that was killed in an elevator accident.
  15. I wonder what they'll do with the bunker/fallout shelter beneath Foley's/Macy's? By 1968, the government’s focus had shifted to public shelters, and the city had 464 fallout shelters. The largest was in the basement of the Foley’s at 1110 Main, which could hold nearly 39,000 people. There were also shelters under City Hall and underground where the Hobby Center is today. http://www.houstontx.gov/savvy/archives/spring06/spg06_heritage.htm
  16. Maggie Rita's (Ninfa's) closed. I read somewhere that there was a Cafe Adobe sign there now.
  17. Off Topic - How did Adobe get away with serving alcohol right across the street from a church/school. I'm comparing to the permitting issues over on Dunlavy (HEB/Fiesta Property).
  18. Maybe they're buying the Citgo and strip center as well. How close can you build residential next to a gas station?
  19. I never realized there was underground parking right there. I wonder what type of parking facility this place will have.

    METRORail Green Line

The plants are all dug out of the median where the new station is going in downtown. It looks like the early stages of construction. Does anyone know which design has been selected?
  21. Early 2013 - http://houston.culturemap.com/newsdetail/05-30-12-14-12-alamo-drafthouse-is-heading-to-midtown-houston-suddenly-has-movie-options/
  22. Wasn't Chelsea's the name of the bar that used to be in the basement of the old Plaza Hotel?
