  1. Not the main streets, but in the neighborhoods (like Avondale).
  2. If you ever wondered why there are no turn signs after... pm. It was to cut down on people cruising for hustlers.
  3. Anybody remember when Randall's didn't sell beer or wine?
  4. Before Rice, there was a store called Eagle. It was where Bed Bath & Beyond is at W. Alabama and Kirby. I believe there was a Jamail' on S. Shepherd too (where a pet store is now). Pasternak's was on W. Alabama @ Audubon.
  5. It was truly an amazing site to watch. The largest fire I've ever seen was a grain silo that was located on the northeast corner of Montrose and Allen Pkwy, diagonally across from the Magnolia Cemetery. The flames from that fire were probably as high as the AIG tower is tall.
  6. They've been painting the trim on this building. Maybe a black baby grand piano store - that's all I saw. I'll try to get a better look today.
  7. The vacant retail/restaurant space is full of pianos today. My best guess is that they are being stored there while the Alley Theater is being renovated.
  8. Cardet's was the first time I ever tasted Cuban food. Needless to say, it was very good.
  9. This most recently housed and IT firm. The only thing that remains now is the elevator shaft. So sad to see this one go.
  10. I think you mean Milam, not Main. One lane of traffic is closed on the Travis side.
  11. Seller's Bros. Stella Link @ S. Braeswood.
  12. What's going in at the old Barcadia? There were construction workers in there this morning.
  13. Cooters was across Sage from Cowboy. That men's club used to be a bowling alley.
  14. Isn't The Eagle currently downtown, near Market Square? I guess they're moving then.
  15. There's still a Success Rise silo on the west end.
  16. That silo burned in the 80's - biggest fire I've ever seen in my life.
