  1. It is just CRAZY to see that whole space leveled! Drove by yesterday and man Montrose is really evolving at a fast pace...

it was so fun too to see lots of people at Nidda Thai and Voodoo Doughnut (complete with employees out front waving everyone in) and seeing the work being completed at ACME seafood (and the huge ACME up on the tower) and then see the new Montrose Collective rising above the surrounding buildings... despite all the changes some see as good or bad, it was really awesome to see Montrose buzzing and it made me happy 🙂

  5. got this email just now:

    Dear Loyal Supporters,

Regrettably, after 45 years of bringing Houston the best of art house cinema, today is Landmark Theatres' last day of operation at the River Oaks Theatre. We have been so incredibly fortunate to have made movie memories with you all, from the early days of classics and cult favorites to the Oscar contenders that played for weeks, and those raucous late night audience participation staples THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW and THE ROOM.

Thank you for being a friend. Thank you for sharing your personal connections to the River Oaks over this past month. We agree that movie theaters are sacred spaces and we hope that the Friends of the River Oaks can preserve and protect this special place that has brought so much to the cultural landscape of Houston.

It isn't goodbye. In the wisdom of NOMADLAND, we'll see you down the road. When Landmark lands in a new location, if you are on our email list, you better believe that you will hear from us.

    Sincerely,
    Paul Serwitz
    President and COO, Landmark Theatres

  6. OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my head i was picturing it to be just one tunnel but yeah i just scrolled up to the top here to say oh yeah! it is a 2 part tunnel!!! doh! sorry for the confusion and thanks for clearing that up! Now we just need the flared opening on each end then i guess?

and haha in the picnic loop there is a little baby armadillo that i catch playing near the side of the road periodically! i have never seen it's parents so maybe you can ask your buddy if they have a missing child!!!  🤪

  7. did they finally put in the middle portion of each tunnel? in my head they are leaving the middle for last to keep sufficient light in the tunnels while working before placing the middle portion...

as of sunday on my FIVE hour bike ride (  🤪 ) the middle portions were still missing to connect the tunnels (ps...yes i am sunburned)
