that lot with half price is already closing and being redeveloped...(along with the Jack in The Box being demolished this month) look for that to start happening in 2021...there is a thread in going up!

OH MY GOSH! That store is so beloved by so many in Montrose!!! Can't believe the day has come...
I guess they do have that awesome HEB on Alabama so that is good!

Honestly that is sad but as said above, i definitely understand...dumb covid!
i was hoping D & B would hang in there as part of the Richmond "revival" that is coming eventually.

In fairness, Meyerland is a million times easier to get to than Post Oak, and there's already an Academy near Kirby facing 59 to the east and the Academy that's out towards Memorial City.
I hope long term that shopping center ends up full of vacancies so its owner redevelops it into something much more interesting.
that IS what is happening if you are speaking of where Dick's Sporting Goods currently is! (Post Oak Shopping Center)...That plaza should be closed by end of 2021 is my guess...
if you are talking about the plaza where Luby's is, that isn't going anywhere for a long while is my guess as it going through some changes and additions (like Kenny & Ziggy's taking over Luby's space...) but cool about DSG moving to Meyerland...you are correct it is an easy access area!

interesting that you say that...
i had mentioned above, yes it is new BUT my first thought which i forgot to express previously is why didn't they have this facing east and west not north and south...
as you come up on this in either direction TRAVELING east/west you just see a skinny block of concrete and you have to turn your head to look at it as you pass by to see what in the heck it is...and on top of that, the "Memorial Park" blends in with the monument since its all the same color (just etched in)...
i think it would have looked a bit better and been more of a statement turned the other way to actually face you as you drive into Memorial Park...but yep still like it...just hope they eventually do some sort of landscaping on the median or around the monument...

Yes they just finished a week ago! It took about 2 weeks to build...
while i do like it, i am wondering why they then laid/planted only grass on that entire median...
it looks nice but super lonely haha!

I love Joey's! The atmosphere is similar to Moxie's, but the food is way better.
awesome to hear! i had no idea what to expect as i had never heard of them! my condo is pretty much behind moxies and across from Joey's so i am excited to have both!

i used to live in the heights long ago and love it so much...i knew the owner of the super cool store jubilee just down the street from this complex...i was and still am in love with 19th street.
part of me is excited for the people that will move to this apartment complex and get to enjoy the area but then there is the other part of me that loves the quaint hometown feel of this area...especially 19th street.

i actually forgot all about Joey's Restaurant coming to the Galleria but the construction fence is now surrounding Yauatcha and the fence has the big Joey's Restaurant logo printed on it...so this is happening!

Man they are working fast and steady on the land bridge...
the old HUGE baseball park/soccer field area is completely cleared like nothing was ever even there and the road with access from the running trails center to the picnic loop is now closed off and they even replanted this giant tree 1/4 of the way into the middle of that old road...
the entire volleyball and wooded area between that road and memorial drive is completely cleared as well with workers there early morning to early evening working away!
they mean business!
oh and heads up...with all the stuff going on (construction, re-configuring Memorial traffic lanes AND the Houston Open going on, this area is to be avoided at all cost unless you are on a bike (like me!) in my opinion...
last night traffic was so bottled up that i swear some were trapped trying to get out of the running trails center for 20 minutes or so!
anyway...exciting stuff!!!
*well except for the traffic part
and edit to add one note...due to all the construction the old entrance to the picnic loop is now closed and you are now supposed to enter the entrance that is on Memorial Drive!...so don't get trapped in the exit to the running trails center as stated above since that is a dead end!

Donuts are great with lots of options as stated above! They have both cake and yeast donuts...however my new favorite is Hurts Donuts on Memorial (5801 Memorial...) They have a good mix of donuts and their cake donuts were just different somehow and i loved them!
This is Voodoo donuts as seen on Denver Eater:

Yes Voodoo is opening there and i think it will be perfect for Montrose and a good location although i really wish they would have stuck with the original planned location of the little house down by westheimer/dunlavy...but yep this is good!
also Nidda Thai is apparently in no hurry as they are slowly but surely chugging along at a snails pace...maybe opening by spring? who knows!
I bet Voodoo opens before they do at this point!

I wonder if that means they are moving from the Galleria location (which we already knew...) but NOT relocating to another uptown/galleria location!? I thought for sure they would find a way to stay in the area (like the zadok's location or possibly even the old ethan allen location)...
interesting!

dang that photo shows just how huge that building looks compares to "you know who"...
haha
i am so loving this building and cannot wait to see it completed!
in semi related news, i wonder if they were waiting on this corner to be done in regards to sidewalk etc before putting the giant flying saucer street sign/light up at this intersection...which they haven't even done that yet at the Westheimer intersection too...maybe they are waiting to do both at the same time?
anyway...wow...love Aspire! thanks for all the great photos!

🤪 haha!
and this morning drove by those (in-)famous rock columns to see progress on the building...
they are moving along pretty quickly and think it will be another month before it is mostly completed...so looking at an "early next year" opening i bet...
also it SEEMS that the north facing side might be the actual entrance...it will then face the gas station? who knows as i am confused and need to go by there when i can get out of my vehicle and do some investigating
edit to add: Crud, they really do read this forum as they have now added a new bright color to the buiding... almost NEON YELLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good grief!!!! haha!
I am hoping when this place is done i will go, well dang i was wrong...this is super fun and adds some much needed character to uptown...
