    There is still a Skyline Deli in the tunnels underneath, but maybe that corner that connects to the Esperson building is going to be spared.

    I'm still curious if they are going to make some accommodation for the tunnels during construction. Seems a long shot, but it makes you wonder why they would bother putting up signage for something that is about to be a hole in the ground. EDIT: Odd error message. Strange things are afoot at the Circle K

    Any area in particular, or are you just looking for everything? I think Alonti probably has the record, they seem to be in or under every other building. Murphy's deli is close behind. There are more independent jewlery/watch repair places than I thought would be economically sustainable. Eye doctors, dentists, convenience stores fill out the spaces not occupied by quick lunch places.

    There must be a ton of upside in taking a risk like this. The interesting thing to me is how a usable, building like HC is underused in its current state, but something new in its place would justify the cost of a whole new tower. I guess that's the devil in the details of real estate development.

    Just saw the same thing. I seem to recall reading that the rest of the Americana building is empty as well. A replacement development could be another Houston Center type with a bridge over the street, but I would imagine, unless tenants are locked up for something huge that they would build on the blocks one at a time. Sitting empty, the Macy's/Foley's building is going to look like hell in short order.

    In the section of building with the different facade facing Rusk, I noticed that they were doing some interior work on a 3rd or 4th floor area, which I noted in a previous post. I walked by later, and you can see furniture and fixtures and a finished interior where they were working. I am guessing that they were putting together what the rooms will look like as an example, or to work through options when they start to outfit the guest rooms. I could be wrong though.

    I also noted that it looks like they have a mockup of a finished hotel room in the area that I noted the sheetrock work being done earlier.

    These idea for high-ish rent property right next to campus struck me as awfully ambitious. Students with money typically lived in houses when I was there, permanent residents would probably steer well wide of campus for every day living. Wish them luck though.

    The tenants certainly seem above average in attractiveness.

    You can see some of the stone work being uncovered on the upper floors now. I'm still interested to see how they are going to get the black gunk that is on the brick behind the white-ish panels off or if they'll paint over it.

    It's Catholic, I've been to open bar events in the parish hall of Catholic churches before. Or maybe Cafe Adobe predates the ordinance.

    A couple more. They are definitely stripping the cladding. The windows are out of the upper floors too.

    Partially answering my question, they extended the scaffolvator all the way across to the other building.

    Isn't 806 Main going to be a JW Mariott? I have no idea if corporately they would or would not not want to open two locations (albeit different brands) very near by in quick succession. The two hotels will obviously serve different purposes, so who knows.

    I would imagine that you are correct. There are probably only four or five of us on the planet that would parse the language thoroughly enough to notice a difference.

    News to me. Last I read, Skanska had Gensler working on "something" but it wasn't specific enough to be able to call it a "major office tower".

    I noticed someone doing what looked like sheetrock work on the third floor of the narrow strip of building with the yellowish panels that face Rusk. He was right above the window unit a/c in my pic above. Is that part contiguous internally with the 806 Main building? It is a different height, but could be a section that was not raised when the original building added the additional floors way back when.

    St. Anne's (the church across Westheimer from Adobe) uses the lot for overflow parking for nearly all of its surfaces. It wouldn't be a proper Catholic church if it had adequate parking.
