  1. HAS THIS broken ground yet. I need to drive over there and check it out.
  2. Maybe it was a Nutria. Those things are freaky scary.
  3. I think Hornblower was joking. Besides Sarnoff works for the Chornicle now. Her columns still stink.
  4. I never knew Google offered that information. That is really cool. Especially if you are looking at land to develop. Aerial photography can be very expensive.
  5. That is what I was thinking. It will never happen. I hit the store on Alabama a few nights a week and YEP it is pricey as hell. At least the Seafood does not smell horrible (see Midtown Randalls)
  6. I do not know the source, but I work with a few people who used to work at the Galleria and their sources told them that Bloomingdales is a defenitely possibility. It makes sense. Lord &Taylor will not be vacant for long. I am not sure if Lord and Taylor owns their building or if Simon owns it.
  7. Totally correct. I went to get some Ice Cream last night and the parking lot was completetly full. There was not much big in terms of sports on TV, but still not enough parking for BW3. I can not believe another resturant / coffee house is opening up there. If you can't find a spot nearby to park then you will most likely go elsewhere.
  8. I am not sure what all that means, but Trump made a play on the Empire State Building a few years back. I am not sure how all that panned out but there is a great book on the subject (called Empire). I read it about 4 years ago and do not really much except that the Gross Lease of the building was eventually sold and there was a huge bidding war for the right. I am not sure if this was before or after Helmsley took control of the building.
  9. I suppose that is not too bad. If that included Electricity it would be a great price. At the end of the day I end up paying close to $250 monthly for similar services at my townhouse. I only pay $75 a month, but then I pay a yard man another $80 and my montly insurance bill is probably another $75.
  10. The rendering looks like it includes a highrise office building, a midrise office (probably medical) and a midrise residential. I did not see any retail. They must be keeping the retail closer to the mall.
  11. I drove by them last weekend and I thought they were quite impressive. Maybe just not your style. I have no idea how they lack intregrity. You will have to explain that one to me.
  12. Will you please enlighten us on your vision for the inner city. Instead of making sweeping statements how about offering us something a little more substantial.
  13. I just did the virtual tour and thought it was beautiful. Whoever is building those seems to have an understanding of taste. I like those a lot.
  14. I drove right past those last weekend. We were exploring that area (checked out Jefferson Davis Hospital Rehab, ate at Spanish Flower and looked at North and East end DT development) and noticed those. They have spectacular views and look really nice. The townhouses are built up on a hill and it looks like the view will remain unabstructed. It looks like 2 were completed and there was room for 3-4 more. There was a wall around the place and a gate. It looked very safe. The surrounding neighborhood is still pretty scary. Check them out.
  15. Good work. I think you come realize the benefits of owning and living intown (assuming that is where you want to be). It is none of my business so tell me to screw off if you like, but how much are your maintenance fees over there. Those fees scare me. The pool looks awesome !!! Congrats !!
  16. First of all I am sure Camden did not pay $58 per foot. They have had the land for quite a while and have been sitting on it. The second thought is that the project will built upwards allowing more rentable area per square foot of land. I would assume that a 1 bedroom, 1bathroom 950 SF place would run you about 1300-1600 per month. I might be off a few bucks in either direction.
  17. I have to admit to no liking this building at all, but I think it will look allright if in fact a second tower is built that backs up to the first. The building is very lean. I would have rather seen a larger (in width) building instead of two leaner ones. Oh well, it is there, nothing we can do about it now.
  18. Any idea what /who is going into that new center. Someone mentioned Whole Foods but that site is too small. I must just be a retail center with multiple tenants.
  19. It looks like it will get going soon. I have not been over there in a few weeks so I can not say for sure.
  20. If Barnaby can have three locations within 1.5 miles of one another I am not sure these guys can't. I ate at the Montrose Diner a few weeks ago and had a so so experience. The food was pretty good (The French Toast was great), but still left a little to be desired. The service was so so and our waiter was annoying. I was with my Fiance and he had to put on the over the top gay attitude. I know this a very gay friendly restuarant, but they can tone it down a bit. But I digress. I am excited for this diner to open. Hell I would be happy with a Waffle House in Midtown. Seriously. I know it is ugly, but I love the atmosphere and risk factor involved with that place. Speaking of fast food Midtown / Montrose needs... We need a Chick-Fil-A.
  21. I see a lot signs proclaiming "Coming Soon" in midtown, but the only thing I can see being constructed is the new Walgreens by Specs. Nifty. Can't wait for another pharmacy.
  22. Do we know who owns the new development in Town and Country. I am suprised most of us are still in dark to what they are going to do there. Has Neimans Closed for good?
  23. I would not neccessarily say ugly vs attractive as much as square vs non square. it is much easier and more efficient to lease a square building. As Crescent (5 Houston Center) and Hines (Calpine) have shown recently, square buildings can serve both purposes.
  24. I drove by the building for the first time ever on Sunday. I was taken aback by how small it was. I thought the building looked cool, but I was expecting something a bit larger. It looks like they are making some progress. What is an Artist Loft Anyways?
