  1. Dang, you guys were too slow with the fund raising.
  2. Right back at ya. At least now we're on the path to finding out how much people value these buildings. I'm sure the owners will sell if we come up with enough money.
  3. Excellent. Apparently when I'm a jerk I can be very motivating.
  4. I know what the benefits are. I'm asking how much you are willing to sacrifice to have the benefit of keeping these buildings. Now we know.... $300. Since you are willing to do that, certainly you would also be willing to set up the gofundme account and put in the first $300. I'll be waiting for the link.
  5. Ok. I did my part to get this started. I looked up go fund me on Google. Here's the link.... https://www.gofundme.com You're welcome. Now you can all show how much you care about the character of our city.
  6. Do you appreciate that character enough to make a sacrifice for it? Personally I don't appreciate it enough to even look into what it takes to start a gofundme campaign for it. These buildings aren't even worth the time it would take me to look up gofundme on google and find out. I wonder how long it would take to do that. Is there anyone in this discussion that even cares enough to find out? If so post your results here.
  7. Just as I suspected. I assume from your comment that you don't care enough either. How much are you willing to put up? I stated my amount. State yours.
  8. And he's absolutely right. I suggest that if you want to save these buildings that you start raising the money to do it. Until preservationists do that you are nothing but talk. I'm not trying to be snarky here, seriously.... someone start a gofundme campaign or something. I'd do it myself but I just don't care enough. I suspect the rest of you don't care enough either. Prove me wrong. If enough people care then the money will be raised.Edit: I'll be the first to put in money to save these buildings if someone else will do the work of setting up a way to fund it. I'll put in $5. Let's see if we can get another few hundred thousand people that care as much as I do to pitch in and save these buildings.
  9. Maybe Neiman Marcus. The Galleria is not a location for the really rich to shop. I used to walk through it multiple times a day. It's for quinceaneras now. Without South Americans that place would be dead.
  10. It would cause economic harm to the family that owns this property to force them to keep it as is. If these buildings are to be saved someone needs to compensate them for that.
  11. I'd rather stay in downtown but those who argue that the galleria is popular with foreigners are correct. People from South America come in to load up on luxury items. My wife used to work in Neiman Marcus. That is a large part of their business. Walk through the high end shops in the galleria, you won't see rich people from Houston, they don't shop there. The women in River Oaks shop in New York, London, etc... My wife can't even get the kind of purses she wants in Houston. We get them when we're in New York.
  12. A helicopter pad on the roof? What? People that live in $1.2 million homes don't travel by helicopter much.
  13. There are buses that leave the NWTC multiple times an hour that will get you to downtown in about 10 minutes. Thousands of people ride them everyday. I rode it everyday for years.
  14. The article says this component would be on the North side of W. Gray where Sur La Table, Local Pour and Brasserie 19 currently are.
  15. That map shows what appears to be a shopping center and parking lot where The Sovereign is , doesn't it? Did they just put a new date on an old drawing and bring it out for this meeting?
  16. There is a meeting at Carnegie Vanguard High School tonight about Regent Square. If anyone goes could you please let us know if there is any news? I won't be able to make it. https://www.facebook.com/NorthMontrose/
  17. I had forgotten what my argument was after being interrogated. After looking back through the posts now I remember that it was this post. You are accusing people of stereotyping, in what way is a mystery to me. It seems that you are very naive as to the nature of drug and prostitution activity in Houston. I brought up a couple examples and you seemed to get ticked off by that. I'm sorry I touched a nerve here. People accusing others of "stereotyping" touches a nerve with me.
  18. I also never said "the police do drugs with the vagrants who sell drugs on the streets". You are reading a lot into my comment that is not there. You really shouldn't do that. Just read the post, take nothing more from it than what is said.
  19. I never said I dislike cops. I will not tell you why I didn't report it. I don't really care if you believe me or not. You are the one arguing with me. I just put my experience out there. If you have a problem with it, I suggest that is your problem, not mine. I've not said that you are full of crap or a liar, you are the one insulting people here.
  20. Why the hostility? Why would I lie? I'm not going anywhere with it. It seems to have gotten a rise out of you though.
  21. I've also seen Houston police in uniform doing drugs. They know exactly where the drugs are being sold. They can round the people up anytime they want.
  22. I've seen people selling drugs right in front of the police on this block. The police don't care.
