  1. Groundbreaking held for TSTC’s new Transportation Center of Excellence | School News | fbherald.com "The Transportation Center of Excellence is scheduled to open in time for the fall 2025 semester. It will host an expanded Diesel Equipment Technology program, as well as the addition of both the Automotive Technology and the Auto Collision and Management Technology programs."
  2. An oldie but goodie... 2015. Rosenberg area picked as site of technical college (chron.com) "The new campus, which could break ground as early as June, would be located on 80 acres, north of Interstate 69 on FM 2218 at FM 359." The frontage, in reality, is along the Southwest Freeway (59/I-69) between (not on) FM 2218 & Louise Street. If it were ON 2218, it would be where Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home & Cemetery are located. Sincerely don't know how FM 359 even ended up in that description as it's several miles from this intersection and not even in the same city.
  3. Yep. It's 8 Greenway Plaza. The reflections match.
  4. Sounds like their primary studio is getting an update. Should be ready early next year. mikemcguff.com: KPRC 2 gets new studio in 2024

  6. Interesting project to introduce native plants to areas across the multiple area ecoregions to help with both flood control and drought survivability. Native Seed Mix Development Project — Houston Wilderness One-pager+on+Harris+County+NSM+Development+Project+(May+2023).pdf (squarespace.com) https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/environment/article/native-seed-mix-prairie-grass-southeast-texas-18521467.php "In testing over the past two years by researchers at Texas A&M Kingsville’s Texas Native Seeds Program, the new 12-species mix “handled inundation of water, it handled drought and it looks fabulous,” she said.
  7. Agreed. Genuinely impressed this one seems to have come back from the dead - even though it seemed to have more momentum pre-covid. Should be decent height for that area. Marathon's tower next door isn't super tall, but it's around 340' from what I recall. This doesn't look too far off from that.
  8. Mmmmm... vaporware. Not Waterline. Waterline is chunky and unfortunate looking - much like myself - but at least it is vertical and still under construction. Also like me. Modern (behind Waterline) is also going up right now. The Ritz probably won't be coming out of the ground any time soon, if at all. The same developer (M2) tried to get both the Nashville and Austin towers built at the same time and it's not going well to say the least. The signs are already down at that site in the former - and it was further ahead in the development process than the Austin one.
  9. Additional comments from the co-founder of Cart.com, Remington Tonar https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/inno/stories/inno-insights/2023/11/21/cartcom-headquarters-return-houston-logistics-boom.html "What are your thoughts on how Houston’s innovation ecosystem has grown? This topic is very near and dear to me, and I’m very passionate on why it's important to continue to grow the ecosystem. Certainly, in the years since I’ve been in Houston, I’ve seen the ecosystem almost J-curve. When I moved down from New York City, I was unpleasantly surprised by the lack of infrastructure that the fourth-largest city in the country had for startups and entrepreneurs. Now we have multiple Cannon locations, the Ion, multiple national-level incubators. Omair and I and our founding investor, Jim Jacobsen, started this company at the Cannon West Houston, so in a lot of ways Cart.com is one of the most prominent examples of why we need to continue pushing for more startup infrastructure in Houston."
  10. The brochure has been updated again, of course and it seems there's been some attempts to lease out the existing spaces and fill pad sites. For Phase I The previously mentioned "Pickleball" site appears to have been fleshed out to a "Pickleball/Restaurant" concept, again pointing to a user like Chicken N Pickle. The Sueba apartment complex (forever with the rendering of their Katy Boardwalk project) also remains. The Kelsey Seybold building may be going on this side as a "proposed medical" building. The SF description is about the same. Proposed new tenants for pad sites on this side include... -Feng Cha Teahouse -The Good Feet Store -Lids -Hand & Stone Massage Spa For the Phase II side... New proposed tenants include -Raising Cane's (where the IHOP currently is, and if I'm not mistaken - it's still open) -Texas Regional Bank -Dunkin (Returning to the map where the old Carl's Jr. once was) -A Montessori School along FM 2977 A Pad Site adjacent to the SpringHill Suites also appears to be under contract. We'll see who the user is soon enough, it seems.

  13. Cart.com is moving its HQ back to Houston from Austin for a number of reasons - citing the former's better connections to its international offices as well as supply chain and logistical knowledge and resources. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/inno/stories/news/2023/11/20/cartcom-headquarters-returns-houston.html "The company that we were in late 2020 and through 2021 and part of 2022 was absolutely a company that was built for revenue growth at all costs," Tonar said. "Now the mandate has turned towards looking at profitability and cash flow, and the culture of a place like Houston is attuned to that kind of operating model." They are currently said to be looking for a location close to The Cannon near Memorial City, where they originally started. Even though they are a primarily remote-based workforce, their focus is on hiring locally.
  14. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/11/16/beyonce-concerts-drive-hotel-bookings-houston.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_27&cx_artPos=8#cxrecs_s "Hotel occupancy across the city last month came in at 59.5%, marking a 5.8% increase over September 2022. The average daily rate and revenue per available room increased 5.4% and 11.5%, respectively, over the same month last year. Houston’s hotels have maintained a steady increase in business in 2023 compared to 2022. During the first nine months of the year, hotel occupancy averaged 61.1%, up 7.8% compared with the same period in 2022. ADR and RevPAR were up 7.5% and 15.9%, respectively, so far this year compared with 2022, according to Houston First."
  15. Yes, it has been since last September. Still wishing I had backed up a lot of the information from that database before CoStar took over. There were hundreds of older, unbuilt project profiles that existed only there, as well as numerous heights for buildings and other structures that were not listed elsewhere. I probably still have a good number of my notes from the field when I was doing in-person visits or making calls, and tons of microfilm copies of articles I used for research on the older buildings & projects... but like you inferred it would take time to get it all entered into one spot again. I would love to start a new database - preferably Houston / Houston-metro specific since that's where I could tell you the most complete & accurate data per project was represented on a consistent basis on that previous site. Don't have the first clue how to approach such a task though. Maybe someone else does?
  16. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/inno/stories/news/2023/11/15/accenture-houston-innovation-generative-ai-studio.html "Accenture PLC launched generative AI studios in its innovation hubs around the country, with one in Houston. The move is part of the global professional services company's $3 billion investment into generative AI technology worldwide. The local Generative AI Studio is inside Accenture’s Houston Innovation Hub at 1301 Fannin St., which is owned by Netrality Data Partners. Raymond Hodge, director of Accenture’s Houston Innovation Hub, confirmed to Houston Inno that the studios were active at launch and immediately available to any existing Accenture clients. Each city’s hub is tailored to specific industries within that city, and Houston’s hub will specialize in chemicals, energy and utilities."

In November, theater officials announced a new three-year lease at a space on Bellaire Boulevard in the Gulfton area. 19. https://communityimpact.com/houston/conroe-montgomery/development/2023/11/10/construction-on-montgomery-countys-fish-creek-regional-park-to-begin-in-2024/ "Construction on the infrastructure for Montgomery County’s Fish Creek Regional Park is estimated to begin in the first quarter of 2024, Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley said in a Nov. 8 interview. Riley said the infrastructure construction would include work on the roads, driveways and sites for things in the park. “We’re ready to move on some of that,” Riley said."

  22. 80% Leased https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/11/14/texas-tower-clifford-chance-morgan-stanley.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_27&cx_artPos=2#cxrecs_s "Law firm Clifford Chance, which entered the Houston market earlier this year, has signed on to lease 60,400 square feet across two floors in the 47-story, 1 million-square-foot tower at 845 Texas Ave. The firm’s lease marks a major expansion of its presence in Texas Tower. Clifford Chance announced in early June that it is occupying space at The Square at Texas Tower, Hines' coworking space. Since then, the firm has transitioned to two spec suites to accommodate its growing team. The expansion into Houston builds on Clifford Chance's wider Americas operations in New York; Washington, D.C.; and São Paulo, Brazil. Also, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management has leased 37,600 square feet at Texas Tower."

  24. July 2022 https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Engineering-giant-Bechtel-to-move-Houston-offices-17295625.php#photo-22686089 "The project management, construction and engineering firm recently signed a 205,000 square-foot office lease in Parkway Property’s CityWestPlace campus in Building 3, according to CBRE, which represented Bechtel in lease negotiations. Bechtel’s new digs are about half the size of its 440,00 square-foot office space in Houston, according to real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield. The move comes after Bechtel earlier this year implemented a hybrid workplace policy allowing some employees to work remotely at least part of the time and commute to the office based on teams’ individual needs." Today https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/11/14/bechtel-departure-post-oak-office-loan-risk.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_27&cx_artPos=0#cxrecs_s "Engineering and construction firm Bechtel’s decision last year to move its Houston office out of 3000 Post Oak Blvd. has put the building’s owner on the clock, as a looming $80 million loan deadline corresponds with one of the toughest leasing markets in recent memory. The loan for 3000 Post Oak Blvd. is scheduled to mature March 1, 2025. However, because Bechtel currently occupies 99% of the building, the building's $80 million mortgage has been added to a loan servicer "watchlist" amid concerns over the loan's repayment once the building's anchor tenant leaves."

However, those deals were worth an aggregate of $596.23 million in Q3.
