  1. Dang i like that color lighting scheme of the W hotel. Dallas gets all the fancy lighting in their downtown and buildings. All Houston gets is ugly year-round Christmas lights. on their buildings
  2. ^^So maceo9903. It's good to see you like Houston but curious. What does Houston have that Atlanta doesn't. As far as i know Atlanta has trendier developments, better mass transit, and hills.
  3. i think houston semipro and zebra should get married. they'd fit very well together negative attitude and bad grammar skills!!!
  4. you couldve Cut the kid some slack, he is a new member. if they stick those raggedy christmas light buildings on one more of houston's buildings, i'm gonna snap! They already have too many buildings in downtown that have christmas lights around the rooftops. i personally don't think they will light this building based on the track record. if they do, i hope they use the flood lighting which illuminates the side of the building
  5. what i don't get is why six flags is in so much debt? First of all, they charge an arm and a leg for the tickets. They underpay their workers and operate in many states Someone in that company is stealing. They're stealing in the same fashion as our Dr. Priscilla Slade in TSU
  6. i bet its probably a dallas forumer using a multiple alias posing to be from somewhere else to help get a point across.
  7. can't say i have Red! Anyone know what colors are the lights gonna be? Houston downtown needs more blue!
  8. man you HAVE been gone for a while! < aka urbanlandscape> what rock did you climb out from under? It's been brought up on dallasmetropolis.com
  9. yeah i agree^^ not saying that its not a nice mall, but it didn't look all that to go home bragging about. For anyone to write an article putting it on the same level as Houston's Galleria is ridiculous.
  10. ^^the author of that Dallas Article that 713/214 posted is the stupid one.
  11. i'm still trying to figure out the point of slfunk reposting the same article that 713-214 already posted .???
  12. 713 to 214 is a hemroid. I don't get it, i thought that Houston's galleria was supposed to be the 5th largest shopping cmoplex in the country? You mean to tell me that this Northpark in Dallas took the title? Unless Dallas people think they're the only ones that exist in Texas without giving Houson credit maybe? I don't know, but i would like to see other sources saying that Northpark is the largest mall in Texas from other than a Dallas paper.
  13. oooh!!! tcole just got told off by a 12 year old. don't let him do that to you man!
  14. now we know where most of the growth is coming from in the DFW metro! I guess if growth doesn't happen in Dallas or the Dallas metro area, it can still count on Fort Worth to back it up to make the DFW area stay on top. Houston (just one city) however, we gotta do everything on our own! We're Houston- we pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps!
  15. PARTLY! but i really want rail because when i move back to Houston, i plan on abandoning my car with these high ass gas prices continuing to soar. I think buses are old fashioned and not as convienient as rail. i think if we had a designated thourough rail route, we can hit most major destinations of the city without having to take a car. Sorry for the slight off- topic stuff folks now back to the topic. So Lucky Strike bowling. They used to make candy cigarettes too huh? j/k
  16. Hey Hizzy, were you saying this sarcastically? If not, how do you feel that we're 10 years behind ? Oh and PS: I didn't mean to jump on METRO. I know they're doing all they can with what little resources they have.
  17. i see you like to play games Ms. "Nasa is relocating to Dallas!" like what? We sure ain't following suit with Dallas when it comes to rail!
  18. is it me or does it feel like Dallas is following us? Sorry Mods but it had to be said!
  19. i'M GOING TO REPOST MY REPLY SINCE A MODERATOR JUST GOT ON ME ABOUT MY PREVIOUS REPLY. I'M GUESSING DUE TO THE NASTY LANGUAGE AND PROFANITY THAT WAS IN MY OTHER POST. HERE'S WHAT I SAID IN MY POST THAT WAS DELETED WITHOUT THE LANGUAGE... TO NMAINGUY, I GUESS I'M A BONEHAD SINCE I LIKE THE IDEA OF THE TUNNEL. I'M GOING TO BE A BONEHEAD AND SAY IT LOUD AND PROUD FOR ME AND ALL THE OTHER BONEHEADS WHO DON'T WANT THIS UNIVERSITY LINE BUILT IN THE SAME FASHION AS OUR MAIN STREET LINE THAT WAS THE CRASH CAPITAL OF THE U.S. IN THE FIRST 2 YEARS OF OPERATION. THERE MODS... HAPPY? >
  20. there's already a thread like this in the downtown section. linky http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/i...?showtopic=4357
  21. negative AND grammar challenged! show more hope and support for your city bro!
  22. You know i'm, not really sure on how to respond to this one. The good-hearted side of me actually sympathizes with the guy. I mean, afterall, his experience level seems to be highly reveared. But the fact still remains on how i've grown very tired and angry of seeing our taxpayer dollars going to every city but Houston when it comes to lightrail. Cities such as Dallas and Denver all seem to have no trouble when it comes to gaining federal dollars to improve their rail systems. I think the best way to explain how i feel about this is that it's one roadblock that has been moved aside for Houston to improving its transportation options. Period.
  23. no disrespect intended but... what the hell you just say? I'm sorry but i was with you in the first paragraph but after that i was asleep
  24. Where in my post did i ever say that Dallas had monorail? I said that they buried a portion of their lightrail underground at Cityplace Station. Yes, i was suggesting just elevating or tunneling part of the train near 610 loop to avoid all that nasty traffic. I'm kind of finding myself getting a little heated over this so i'm gonna end and say that i respect your opinion Red. I have no gripe with you. Whether if my idea is strictly fantasy, you have to admit that it makes sense and needs to be done or looked into.
  25. Oh COST! POSH be GOSH! No one is talking about making the subway or monorail real long, just at least under or over the 610 loop. Even if they didn't make a subway a mile long, that would still be long enough to avoid the 610/ Galleria area traffic. Furthermore, I have a hard time believing that cities like Dallas don't have a problem raising the funds to bury their lightrail for 2-3 miles before it arrives downtown. AND, they just received federal funding and are moving toward building more subway lines. Houston can't even get one? We can build all these buildings and skyscrapers that sit vacant for months before people rent them. And can also build monstrous freeways in everypart of the city. (That's more expensive than doing the same thing for a train and just laying train tracks over it?) I'm just talking about one 1-1.5 measley subway/monorail line here folks. No one says it has to go throughout the entire city. Just needs to be able to avoid the areas with the heaviest amounts of traffic! Someone on here has gotta feel what i'm sayin'.
