  1. Editor: Please forgive my ill-written words. I had no idea how close this subject wqas to you. I am so sorry.
  2. A big deal WAS made of it. It had a Federal Reserve Bank in it. No one knows what happened to all of the money in it. I would tell you my hypothesis, but it would just be censored.
  3. So why is the thread gone? What happened to freedom of speech???????????????!!!?!?!?!?!?!
  4. Yes, indeed it WAS a hangout for Milby High School Students - I was one!!! Class of 1973!
  5. My son and I went there today and they were moving out furniture - closed, of course. Remodeling, relocating, please don't let them move out of Clear Lake!
  6. It isn't the same since Pappas bought it. MUCH MUCH more expensive - not worth it. Never going again.
  7. 311 IS a joke! for THREE years I have tried to get TWO separate things done. Neither has been done, I have moved from where one of the problems was, and I give up on the other problem. I first reported in July of 2004 that there was not a stop/street sign on our street - and that every other street had one. I have a child with emotional issues, and I needed an identifying street sign on my street. I then continued to call on a monthly basis - noting names, numbers, new work orders, etc. When we moved in July of 2007 - still, no street sign. There is a collapsing concrete block garage right next to my 84 year old mother's house. There are children living in the rent house on the property - the OWNER even lives on the property - but it keeps falling down - first the roof, then the bak, then the side away from Mom's house, then the side next to Mom's house. Again - called every month, names, work orders, etc. Still there. Again, I say, 311 is an insult to our intelligence.
  8. Why don't they just practice in the Astrodome? That would have been better in the first place.
  9. Forgot one - moved in current house and these was a 2 ton maple tree out back that looked sick. After three tree places looked at it, they decided it was "declining" - owners refused to do anything about it, we want the house, figure it will have to come down, and that's that. Well, about a week after we moved in , one ouf our dogs started digging under the tree. She brought out sawdurst, so we thought it was termites. and had it cut down. After they got down about halfway, they called me oput, and the tree was hollow - looked like someone had carved it out, it was smooth, beautiful wood. They said they had no idea what it was - and about an hour later, they were yelling :Cucarahas, cucarachas!!!". Wood roaches. Hundreds and hundreds. Terminex came that same day. Gross. Gross. Gross.
  10. So - where did you end up staying, and eating? We've stayed at the Tremont and Moody Gardens. Just trying to see if there is something else nice out there.
  11. Well, two things. The first is a dead body in the street at Bay Area Blvd. getting onto the freeway (years ago, before they changed it). It was before cell phones, so I don't know when the police were called, eveyone, including my father, just changed lanes and politely went around it. (oh, btw, he was nude) Second thing - not really the STRANGEST - but worked for a 5 star hotel in the 1980's. If we had a fire (or an alarm went off), we would announce "Mr. John Code - and then the location. For example. fire alarm on 15th floor, "Mr. John Code, 15th Floor." Well, one day we had a fire in the laundry chute (wonderful) and as it went down each floor, an alarm ws triggered, and PBX announced it, something like "Mr. John Code, 15th floor. Mr. John Code 14th floor. Mr. John Code, 13th Floor. Mr. John Code 12th floor, ad nauseum. Well, all management was at the Front Desk in case we had to start evacuating, and we were also, of course, waiting for the fire trucks. One of the inside phone lines rang, and the manager answered it. He said this out of breath voice said - "This is John Code. The elevators aren't working, so I have been walking the stairs each time I hear you ask me to go to another floor. I am damn tired now, and, by the way, your laundry chute is on fire!!!!" The manager had a staff member go get Mr. Code, escort him to the bar, and we had to come up with a new system. It was Mr. Pyro after that!
  12. Be wary of Ryland. They were in our former neighborhood, and they are pre-fabricated homes. The home comes in a large pile of pre-constructed parts. Some of them sat out in rain and sun for months and warped. Then they would put them together (watching them put the warped ones together was fun) and sell them. Don't ever buy one.
  13. As far as I know, they were all on S. MacGregor Way. I remember them being pointed out to me, and they were not that far apart from each other.
  14. My Aunt lived at 7105 (I believe) Sims Drive. It looked like a two story home, with dormer in the finished attic. They had a well. My Uncle built a mega garage and workshop. I would love to go by there, but never have the time. I would love a picture.
  15. Do you have one? Just looking at them on the commercials and in magazines, if I had one, I would keep it full all the time, and everyone who came over (even the postman) would have to come look at it!
  16. I jumped to the bottom - still sick with flu, and today this and trying to clean house is my pasttime- anyway - people who come up behind you and leave NO ROOM to stop - when you are going with the flow of traffic, (10 mph. OVER speed limit) in the right or middle lane. I had a friend in St. Louis who drove like that. I drove with her once. After that, I met her wherever we had to go.
  17. Me too! But at $5-6 k, I find it to be a little cost prohibitive.
  18. http://www.plumbersurplus.com/Prod/Kohler-...e/78012/Cat/757 Called, aptly enough, the overflow bathtub.
  19. and what is the purpose? Surely you can't get in them like that? *Disclaimer I have the flu and 103 temp. I am bored, cold, and aching. When I was looking at my small bathtub (flipped house - used as shower) I thought that I would KILL for a DEEP bathtub - and so you see where my thought process led me (I hope). By the way - haven't been on here in a while. Happy New Year!
  20. Windex DOES cure warts, and I am proof of that!
  21. That small urban nature sociaty on River Drive was once a residence. We knew the poeple who owned it. It is RIGHT next door to Charlton Park. The couple who owned it divorced, shw was put in a mental institution (she needed it, bless her soul) and it sat, and sat, and sat, and sat - and then somewho (not sure how) becamse whoat it is today.
