  1. We moved, downsized, and are having to get rid of years of stuff. I like the "close quarters' bettef because I can keep the house clean easier - if we ever get unpacked! Just wondered if anyone else had downsized and felt more like they owned the house than the house owned them. PW
  2. Since the house sold, I never got to see finished pictures...busy moving, having mother in hospital, owning two houses, etc. Do you have any topost - please?????
  3. There are already government drones at Ellington. We see them all the time. It scares the hell out of us. We knew they were coming, it was on the news, in the paper, etc. But no one ever said WHEN they were coming. They are here, huge, and scary. And they're watching you. "Holy Big Brother, Batman!"
  4. Went to Carraba's once. Was NOT impressed. Zio's is ok. Angelo's I don't care for. Is there any place we're missing?
  5. That's kinda what I think. My asthma and Hashimoto's thyroiditis just won't let me do a lot - especially if it has to do with dust and heat. I was over there today, and just about wiped myself out, trying to find all of my Christmas decorations in the garage.
  6. We aren't in physical shape to do it, and have a bi-polar son.
  7. I tried to post this before, to no avail. Moved to Middlebrook about a week ago - then found out about this. Friendswood Development said that we were "Built out" in Clear Lake, because that isn't true. They are building new houses in Bay Oaks - and this property they are talking about has had cattle on it since 1991 - for tax purposes - free land - until they start building. And don't forget the "ex" golf course that will be turned into houses in the $300,000 and up category. Clear Lake built out????? Hardly!!!!
  8. Had several people come look at what basically will be the reamains of my husband's single life, and the 10 years of my previous marriage. They charged us to cull "trash from treasure" and want to reserve to right to auction anything they don't sell. I smell a rat - even though we get 50% of the auction profits. Anybody who can help me? PW
  9. So all we have to do is post. I do that anyway! Way to go HAIF!
  10. I want one! (Purplemonkeydishwasher - and a nano, too, of course!
  11. No - no double payments until October. We are in the house, our other one is vacant. We own it.
  12. Just bought a house - built in the 70's. Had an inspector - but in the middle of the inspection he found out that one of his sons was being sent to Iraq, and he just fell apart. I had had him on another inspection, and he did a great job. But on this one he missed some things. He did catch that there was something wrong with the tree in the back yard, and we had two tree companies come out and say that the tree needed to go - but the sellers wouldn't even contribute to half of the fees. Today, our dog dug around the tree, and we found sawdust, and yes, termites. It is a huge tree and has to come down asap. Also, tonight while cooking dinner, I found out that two of the newly installed GFCI outlets don't work. There are problems with both showers in the house, and I could go on and on. What is my recourse at this time? We do have the homeowner's warranty, but it is $55 per visit per craftsman. The tree will be around $1500. We are paying two mortgages. But not until October.
  13. HCAD has it valued around 1.7. million. Apparently it is an estate of someone who passed away, and the trustee is paying the taxes - $14,000+ to Harris County alone!HCAD has it valued around 1.7. million. 14. I'm sorry I wasn't clearer - we are the buyers. One more signature and we are out of option, and closing asap! Well I am impressed. What kind of trees are those - in fact, what are all the plants )I love to garden, just can't tell what they are. Can't wait to show that picture to my husband !
  15. http://search.har.com/engine/dispSearch.cf...mp;backButton=Y You can see on the left and right of the door where a small wall used to be. I would like to have that rebuilt, but I don't think I will ever be able to match the brick. We are downsizing, downpricing, downliving, moving on down. Inside is nice. Outside is butt ugly. Thanks.
  16. I'm insulted. We opened up our city. Period. We recieved all kinds of people. Guess what? There are all kinds of people in the world! They sent us their upper middle class, middle class, etc., etc., They sent us criminals. We have all of the above here. I am so sorry that they feel that we didn't treat them well. It isn't because we didn't try - we gave our time, our money, donations of food and clothing, places to stay. Yes, our crime rate went up, but it would when the general population increases, anyway. We tried. I hope we learn our lesson. I honestly hope there is no next time, but if there is the same situation, I hope we stay out of it.
  17. www.gracehis.com If I were you, I would hire and inspector AND an electrician. Have to do that to get the best inspection you can.
  18. I've been told that there are nursing homes that will take patients on a short term basis. I am starting research on that in the morning. I am exhausted from staying up all night last night with her, and trying to find her a live-in companion the rest of the day.
