    I'm a bit younger than you, but I used to go to the Bellaire Theater with my friends and sometimes watch the $1 movies, but they weren't cartoons. Midnight Rocky Horror Picture Show! When we weren't doing that we were smoking in the parking lot. haha. What fond memories:) That was a cool theater though.

    I just heard the latest info on this project. The developer wants to do a large, high-end condominium project, not a mixed-use, with a huge spa/wellness facility. It sounds pretty amazing. They are currently meeting with architects.

    I would be shocked if they put it out in the Woodlands. That wouldn't work. Galleria/Highland. The Derek sucks and everyone knows it. They've got some tough competition with Zaza, even though it's not in the Galleria area. The thing about W is it's known and interntational which many people who come to Houston (i.e. from Mexico, etc) are going to the Galleria and want to stay over there. Maybe they will revamp the old Galleria Westin and make it a W. That hotel is old and dingy. That's my guess.

    Hmmm.. Well I wonder if this project is still a go. We did basically all the Memorial Hermann POBs and MOBs over there and Memorial City Mall, but this one is definitely not our's. You couln't pay me to live there! I think I would kill myself if I had to deal with that every day. Maybe Drs and RNs would live there. That would make sense.

    Yes but most of the West U kids I know all went to Lamar with me and the River Oaks kids I went to private school in middle school with continued in private school for high school. They don't go to HISD, even with the IB program at Lamar. A few do, but majority are at St. Johns, Kinkaid, etc. Right Kinkaid?

    I also very much agree with you two, especially Kaid. Everyone wants different things and by God should have them! lol. I will take my tiny little urban place and you your mcmansions:) I'm having a boring day, we need some better topics. Come on Niche, bring it!

    I do think that some people in River Oaks and its social and civic entities are old school in their thinking for the most part about integration, etc. Didn't they just allow Jews to become members of The River Oaks Country Club in recent years? My parents house hunted there in the very early 70s and were also not welcomed with a very warm reception they said. They are 2 different ethnicities, Israeli and American. They bought in West U instead, where you actually know and see your neighbors, kids play in their front yards and ride their bikes around the neighborhood and to school. You don't see much of that in River Oaks, besides that the houses are so far apart and often set way back on lots and with private drives. I guess its nice for privacy though.

    Also Rich's on San Jacinto. They have great guest DJs. JR's is right near South Beach and is fun too. I wanna go! lol

    Don't quote me on this, but I think that parcel of land is next to or right near the new 34 story medical tower that's under construction and owned by MetroNational. They may have scrapped this project and went the medical route. I mean, it would be awful living there with ambulances, Katy freeway traffic and the mall all in one condensed area. This is purely speculation though.

    Sambuca Jazz Cafe is around the corner from your hotel in the Rice Hotel. There's also Red Cat jazz Cafe across the street from your hotel. There's the Sky Bar near downtown that is a short cab ride and has great views of the downtown skyline. Sammy's at 2016 Main is also very near you too. That's fun for dancing. They play like Earth Wind & Fire type covers. All of these places are live music/jazz club venues. Icon has a shuttle service to all of these places I think. It's a little English looking cabbie.

    Yes it was Mason Jar. Wouldn't 9 acres be the whole center? I think there is still some property behind the restaurant no? Or does that belong to the office building?

    No it's not at all. It's like at the Beltway in new Chinatown. I don't know why our project description sheet says that.

    Yes, construction is beginning. Below is the project detail information. Park 8 will consist of three beautiful 23 floor high-rise condominiums with commercial retail center and recreational facilities. Using the high-rise condominium concept, 1.2 million square feet are created over 17 acres of land, with 250,000 square feet allocated for commercial retail usage. Near downtown Houston, the building complex includes an adjoining parking lot and features swimming pools, fitness rooms, and game rooms, while also allowing pedestrian access to shops along the street.

    HAHA! Yeah I sort of know her too. Her name is Cassandra Carter. Yep, wanna be Plaboy girl. She did one little insert for a special section called 'College Girls.' I know way too much about these ridiculous people! I guess that's what I do.

    Oh yes, there is tons of redevelopment. My firm even merged with a local firm in Biloxi to work on casinos. They are actually breaking revenue records. I get a publication called Mississippi Gaming News, www.msgamingnews.com, they have all the info about the casinos, etc.
