  1. WORLD TOY IN THE RICE VILLAGE!!! Those old Jewish ladies were like Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall in the barber shop in Coming to America. It was where Banana Republic and NY & Co. are now at the corner of University and Morningside. Thank God 5 & 10 is still there. No matter if you need a new spatula or a costume, they've got it!
  2. The project is on track and is going to be completed Spring 2008. Below are the specs for the project. Park 8 will consist of three beautiful 23 floor high-rise condominiums with commercial retail center and recreational facilities. Using the high-rise condominium concept, 1.2 million square feet are created over 17 acres of land, with 250,000 square feet allocated for commercial retail usage. Near downtown Houston, the building complex includes an adjoining parking lot and features swimming pools, fitness rooms, and game rooms, while also allowing pedestrian access to shops along the street.
  3. Well my firm designed our building downtown 20 years ago then moved in January 2006 after rennovating it. I think we may be one of the few though. Does anyone know? We have designed several other office building downtown as well.
  4. Over 1 million square feet -- Four Oaks Place, owned by TIAA-CREF and managed by Transwestern.
  5. Yes but there is more than just the Discovery Tower. The article unveils plans for several others. The other article I mentioned from March 18th talks about the trend that many Houston architecture firms are moving downtown over the last year. I know my firm did.
  6. Very interesting story in the Chronicle today. I knew about a couple of the buildings, but there are more. The downtown skyline will soon be changing. Hopefully they will design some interesting buildings. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4663689.html Also check out this article from a week or so ago. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/busine...ff/4639327.html
  7. Yeah, the client wants to keep it under the microscope for now. It's driving me crazy cause I am doing the PR for the local architecture firm. The Houston Chronicle did an exclusive story on January 24 and the HBJ just gave a brief description. Below are the facts. Regent Square General Description A new Houston neighborhood built on the principles of urbanism and smart growth to create an upscale, vibrant community and destination district inside Loop 610 alive with shopping, dining, entertaining, socializing, working, and living

  11. Last week, the AIA announced the 150 favorite pieces of American Architecture, according to the public poll "America's Favorite Architecture" conducted by The American Institute of Architects (visit www.aia150.org) 3 Landmarks in Houston were listed: #132 Pennzoil Place #134 Reliant Astrodome #139 Williams Tower In addition, 2 buildings in Austin were listed as well as one in Dallas. 12. If anyone is interested in updates about the Park 8 project, I have just learned that my firm, Morris Architects is working on the design of this project. I am awaiting further information, so I can do my thing. I can forward this on to a personal email or post the main points on this site.
